yup.. that\'s what i decided to go with.. not official yet, but just kicking off the transition, and figured i\'d start including it in my info files for shows...

I love PBfans.com and continue to think of myself a breakfast fan, but I suppose we may have to make the appropriate changes.
This may actually be a good time to pose the question:
Is there anyone on the list that refuses to recognize PB as the Breakfast and is in denial that there has been a change?

I\'m sure there is. Just read posts from vet regulars (of shows not the forum). Many show the signs of denial. I fell in love w/ PB but am eatin\' up sum Breakfast now!
Yes indeed Leith, the denial runs deep... The name change symbolizes a transition from a band that was OURS (read: small group of people) to a band we have to share. It symbolizes not seeing them in places like the Butterfield Dorm or (hopefully!) The Dying Room. It sybolizes a concern that things will become less.... personal. I can\'t stop typing pb as an abbreviation for the band. I can\'t I can\'t I can\'t.

I share your discomfort and actually feel very uncomfortable referring to them as The Breakfast. It\'s kind of like my name. It\'s Alexander but I have never been able to say Alex for some reason and will never associate myself with that name. Most guys named Alexander refer to themselves as Alex but I never even realize that my name is the same when I meet someone named Alex. Very strange but I can hardly say Alex or The Breakfast. Is Al a good name that fits me? Probably not. Alexander? Sounds nice but maybe a little too formal. "Ahh... the name is Al or Skal baby!!".

Joc maybe you understand where I was coming from a few months back when I was harping on how the Vet regulars were so used to having "their Band" and seemed unwilling to share. I believe I compared them to the Phish fans that did the samething for a long time in the Phish Community. At some point you gotta realize this band that you have seen from the get go is actually A BAND and not just a couple of friends screwing around anymore. I think the name change goes a long way in helping this conversion.

Know what you mean. Have spent so long raving about pb and talked about things up on pbfans, any change is going to be difficult. I still refer to the band as pb, though - nothing against progress, but due to their, shall we say, less than huge reputation over here, I don\'t want to confuse anyone!! I am trying to refer to the band as "Breakfast" - drops the definite article so is sort of a compromise! To me they will ALWAYS be
Psychedelic Breakfast - that was the band I discovered and got hooked on many moons ago.
I do understand leith\'s point of view, however - after all, the band call themselves The Breakfast and that is how they will be promoted. On the other hand, I don\'t think the pbfans name will confuse many new fans. After all, if they are looking for the back catalogue and live shows, they will see pb everywhere. Maybe we should ask all these new members we\'ve gained recently. (That\'s a hint to the newbies out there

I have to agree with duane, too - both about the name and a place to argue with people other than the wife!!
Even the people I work with know about PB. Sometimes I play my old tapes at work.
They tend to remember the Psychedelic part more than they remember the Breakfast component. There is a 40-something friend of mine and he is always calling them something different. One day he will call them the Psychedelic hotel and another day he will say something completely different like "how\'s the Psychedelic Picnic Table".

I was actually kidding about not wanting to share. A band this good needs to be heard by the masses.
