hmm

lacking in the heady jams. The flow was busted. Splitting up these songs is just not that cool, right when I start to get into the music it switches up. New Beginning = meh.

Just wasn\'t feelin the vibe last night. What a wierd night. Making me wonder about how much I\'m really still into this band..

:wah: Lacking in heady jams? Most of the show was pretty heavy and fast. Gravity & Eschers were hetty. Scheme part 2 really f\'n hetty I agree though i probably would have rather heard buquebus unbroken. It still raged though. my 2 cent. i hope you wont decide you don\'t dig the band that much anymore.

That\'s what I mean. I love some music thats heavy and fast but IMO this just ain\'t PBs forte.

A nice well developed Tribal Funk jam or an emotional Mooboo or a spaced out SeeTheLight .. thats what Breakfast does best. Or a Puppetry that rages out but only in the last few minutes.

Any headiness that was about to occur in Gravity, etc was wiped out with the introduction of guitar-and-keys playing the same notes, hammer-ons-and-offs back and forth mostly. To me there\'s no melody in this, and it doesn\'t sound cool. Every time Tim does this I can\'t help but think how frickin\' good he could be playing if he forgot about those keys and just played some sweet guitar. I firmly believe now that Breakfast needs a keyboard player.

I thought it was strange when Tim called the band the "whatever experiment" or something like that last night after introducing Adrian and Ron.

Scheme Pt 2 was heady, definitely. And Surreal was absolutely nailed, best I\'ve seen.

Yet this trend from tasteful / heady / trippy to ----> rockin\' / fingertappin\' / partymusik is definitely one reason I haven\'t been making much effort to get to shows outside my hometown lately. I used to be totally mesmerized by their music, the tasteful development of the songs, the ambiance. Lately it seems like they just wanna put on ragin\' rock shows.

That\'s cool but not my cup of shroomy tea.

sorry I don\'t mean to be negative, I tend to ramble on about stuff and honestly I\'m so glad to read these great reviews of this show most of you put up here.

pretty weak first set...you know it\'s a weak set when the best thing about it is the fact that they didn\'t sing the fresh cut lyrics

i didn\'t think scheme was the best 2nd set opener, as the first set was pretty endothermic, but it was played well...even if it did segue into new beginning.  buquebus>scheme>buquebus was clearly the highlight of the night, but simpleton encore was a close second.  tunage was pretty funky

i\'d give it a 4/10 (5=average)

he called himself "the atrocious whatever experiment" (see here).

i don\'t think i\'d be able to identify a "heady breakfast jam" if i heard one..

i really enjoyed last night. but i have yet to make it all the way through a show in which i do not find myself missing jordan at a given time. makes me wonder how things would be if i\'d never seen/heard this band play before july 2006..

my exact sentiments if i left after first set.  as the drinks went down and the energy in the place rose a bit, i totally forgot about any of those thoughts and had a damn good time.

i miss jordan sometimes during parts of a show, but as of last night i really think tim has come a looong way in playing the keys.  the flow back and forth btwn keys and axe is seemless to me.

also, before last night i was for inducting a new keys player, but i don\'t think anyone else could ever truely be a member of the breakfast besides tim adrian ron and jordan.  an i also question whether i would even want to see jordan back full time.  def wanna see him do sit ins and maybe full shows, but i really like what the trio is doing regardless of moments in shows that seem a little flat.

Seriously some real adjectives would be helpful.

Funny... it was always the Breakfast\'s rock appeal that I thought made them so different from other jam bands. If I wanted spaced out, mellow "heady trippy" jamming, there are about 10 million other bands to look to.

I think my assessment (ie: bitching and moaning) was lengthy enough.

And there are 100 million other rock bands to look to if that\'s what you want. But IMO when it comes to the spaced out heady atmospheric stuff, nobody could ever beat PB / The Breakfast.

And when it comes to diverse styles, going from rock to jam to funk to jazz to ambiance and back again they couldn\'t be beat. Lately it seems many of their talents are being sacrificed for the, IMO misguided, notion of putting on a straight rock show

I suspect if they are serious about this, they may pick up some new fans, but they are also going to lose some old heads. I know in Northampton area the band took a big hit in \'04 when they decided no longer to be "psychedelic"...

see there are a lot of people that know what headiness is and have no problem recognizing it ;)

imo, I think you need to realize that the band is growing & changing constantly... they\'re never going to be what they "once were" --- they experiment with new styles & changes every time they play.  You either need to recognize the "headiness" of the band itself & grow/change along with it, or be left in the dust.
