Winning the series every year is the mentality of Steinbrenner and Yankee fans that came on board after the \'96 series win.  Those of us that have been around for a while understand that you don\'t win it every year.  I think the Yanks have a good shot at the East as we have Balt/Toronto and sox still have a series with the Twins who aren\'t half bad.  So, we\'ll just have to wait and see how it all unfolds.

As for the other divisions and the NL, who cares!

The NL won the World Series last year...by a team with the worst record in the entire playoffs. Also, each division has won the World Series over the last 6 seasons. The division that started this was the NL West with the Diamondbacks in 2001. So don\'t think the AL East reigns supreme just cause the Red Sox and Yankees are good. When is the last time the Blue Jays, Orioles or Devil Rays made a run at the top 2 spots? If it was recently then I\'m wrong but I really don\'t pay close attention to AL baseball. The reason why the Yankees and Red Sox consistantly make the post-season is because they play ~45 games each against these crumb bum teams.

The NL West has 4 teams in the hunt for the post-season right now. Assuming the Rockies and Dodgers win 3 more games each, the NL West will have 4 teams over .500 at the end of the season. Show me an instance where the AL East could replicate this. Top to bottom, the NL West is the best division in baseball. Now, does that mean they will definitely get 2 teams into the post-season? No. Does that mean they will win the World Series? No. My point is two good teams at the top of your division it doesn\'t make it the best division in baseball.

If you read what I said, I never down-played the other division or league.  I just said "As for the other divisions and the NL, who cares!"  See - I\'m not a sports junky that needs to know every player on every team and how every team is doing.  I\'m a fan of my team and my team only.

Yeah, I def read that wrong.

I just wanted to defend the NL since it\'s often referred to as an inferior league.

Unbelievable how bad the mets are choking right now. They need to turn it around now or they are dunzo. Even if they survive with the division they have to stop playing like shit if they expect to go anywhere in the play offs. Something is wrong with reyes mentally at this point and until he gets over it the team won;t succeed.

As I told everyone in this thread on 7/18 with a 9.5 game lead (post #144), the Yankees are going to win the AL East.  I didn\'t even notice that someone went in and colored the words "Yankees" and "win" red in that post.  Hilarious.  Of course I will still end up right.

Here\'s my next prediction: After the Yankees win the AL East and the Sox back into the wild card, get ready for the riveting Indians/Angles ALCS!  Sox and Yankees both go down in 4 in round 1!  Hehe!

Like I said, somebody colored them red.  It was the .info server.  The server, despite not posessing the intelligence of a human, is still capable of accidentally creating images which are ironic and thus humorous.

Now, back to the leacture at hand.  You\'re going down.  I\'m going down.  If there are any Indians or Angels fans reading this, prepare the celebratory festivities because one of you is winning the World Series.

gagne is my hero. that\'s all i want to say about anything regarding baseball at the present time except as i am typing this and watching espn, ken griffey had just ended his season due to injury (most likely), poor guy, i used to love watching him play. i really hope he makes it back to the AL to DH and be able to contend for a championship by the end of his career.
