As I was left out of last night\'s sold out Biscuits show in S.F., I decided to take up a friend\'s offer to see Air Supply and Led Zeppelin tribute bands at a dive bar. Turned out to be one of the most fun-filled nights in a while.
In addition to playing the love songs of Air Supply with a punk edge, the band members really dazzled the crowd pretending they were playing at a stadium in the early 80\'s. Some of the funniest band commentary and stage banter I have ever heard in my life was unfolding throughout the entire show. And the outfits, wigs and sunglasses were priceless.
I didn\'t realize I knew so many Air Supply songs prior to last night. It was so much fun that I was inspired to jam at the front of the crowd and was singing along to all the madness (after initially jumping on a speaker at the back of the room). At one point, one of the lead singers headed into the crowd and handed me the microphone, allowing for a random, 1-minute vocal solo during "Even The Nights are Better". I think a friend may have a captured a video or photo of it.
When travelling through the crowd asking what people wanted for Christmas, I was first to respond: "I want to "Make Love out of Nothing at All", which happens to be an Air Supply song title. Defintely elicited a roaring response from the room.
Imagine the guys from Jackass in a band; that was the degree of hilarity sustained at the show. And the post-show Guns N Roses dance-a-thon by the jukebox kept the night alive at 2am.
I think I\'m officially on "Hair Supply" tour! :holyshit:
