I have to say that I am getting tired of the folks on .info who always make excuses for the band.

I wanted to make the same comment after many of the recent shows only garnered crowds of 50 people.  The recurring excuses: "the weather was poor", "there was too much going on locally that night", "the kids are out of school", "the kids are in school but don\'t go to shows on XYZ weekend", "the kids are in school, but studying for midterms" etc. etc.

I have been bummed out about the turnout lately also. I dont think there has been a sudden drop in attendance since Jordo left though, and I dont think people arn\'t coming out because the band is not playing up to par. I dont know what the problem is, promotion maybe? I dont want to be making any excuses, but there has always been doozies. i just dont buy the "The Breakfast wont work w/ out someone on keys." arguement. I dont know how many people are actually saying that, maybe it\'s all in my head..? Btw i agree with Kind M\'s point about the boys needing to mingle with fans more, esp. at a fest like wormtown.

MORE PROMO!!!  my friends in omaha are worried that the upcoming oct 2nd show is gonna be super dooze b/c there has been absolutely no promo at all.  they would be doing it themselves, but they told me that the band\'s booking guy told them that they would be sending Ando all the promo materials (since last time, he spent a lot of money on the last 2 shows in omaha, and also b/c there is new promo stuff to plug the new album etc..).  however, the booking guy hasnt sent anything to them yet (after many requests i might add..).  i might personally write their booking guy an email to quicken up the process, i mean YSMB is also playing in omaha in a couple of weeks and there is more promo for them than the breakfast and their on the same freakin booking agency!!  sorry for the thread hijack...

I fail to see this drop in attendance since Jordan has left.  Attendance has been hit or miss since day 1, as far as i can tell w/ very little rhyme or reason backing it.  One night there\'ll be a packed crowd in a small market, next night there\'ll be a sparse crowd in a big market city.  I\'d love to point the finger at something and get that fixed, but I couldn\'t tell you where to begin.

The band busts their ass on stage on a nightly basis and I can\'t thank them enough for that.  Whether it be the Breakfast, Timmy Tour, the Good Time Boys or whatever, everytime I go out and see them they continue to amaze me.  You\'d think after seeing a band for 50 + times you\'d see every trick they got in the book, but that couldn\'t be as far from the case.  Hopefully this tour will prove to be successful, I know plenty of people from across the nation who are looking forward to their chance to catch them, and there\'s no doubt in my mind that they will give them a good show every chance they get.

DO IT! Email Alex. He is a busy guy but he took the time to answer my email venting my concerns about the band\'s presentation on the Crescendo Website AND within days of the correspondence the problems were fixed!!

Drop in attendance since Jordan left? I agree w/ Igzi here. There has always been a problem w/ attendance it\'s not the loss of Jordan. It is plain to see that it is mainly do to the band not having a Publicity agent and depending on fan support only.

The MySpace page is the first effort I have seen to put the band in the Mainstream Public\'s eye.

Dave and the fans here that use .info as a gathering place have done a wonderful job of keeping .info @ the top of the list on Google etc. when someone searches for info on The Breakfast but they have to be looking for The Breakfast. That is not a problem w/ MySpace.

As for the upcoming tour, well I doubt they will be selling venues out just based on the crowds last tour. I think it will help the band really figure out their future tour plans though as I think they may rethink some markets now that they are a trio.

How about this.

Everyone can sit behind their computers and dictate what needs to be done and how they think it will work. GET OFF OF YOUR FUCKING ASSES AND HIT THE FUCKING STREET WITH POSTERS AND FLYERS. PRINT THEM OUT AND HANG/PASS THEM OUT.

It is fucking silly to sit behind your keyboard with what needs to be done. Promotion for a band that no one has every heard of is unbelievably difficult.

My line is thin with how excuses can be made about who should be doing what. Do you think their would be civil rights in this country if those smoked out hippies just sat in their rooms smoking dope and talking about what should be done? NO CHANCE. They got off their asses and went outside and started a revolution.

Get to it. I will post flyers/posters for anyone show you want.
Love many, trust few and don\'t be late.

Uh bro I think the Civil Rights movement was lead by Blacks for Blacks, sure there were hippies backing them but why not?  Black Folk had all the kind shit!

As for your venting on people flyering. Ya gots ta chill. Flyering is great but if they have not been heard of by now in the NE after 7 years and 1000+ shows......
I think you can concentrate the flyering effort on the grassroots team across the country.
Oh wait the grassroots team does not exist anymore it\'s now the Wild Pack or something huh?
Well contact those that have signed up w/ that and go there.

Now go smoke a boule and chill yo!

not even going to get into it.

It was a blanket statement about the flyering and postering which, last I checked every band in America still uses as the #1 source for getting their name out there.

smoke this, broseph!

the fans can definitly do a great deal to suplement the band\'s promotion, but sometimes i dont feel like theres much there to suplement.

the problem that I see is the plate is too full for the one person who runs grassroots and now that it is being delegated to others you should see a difference in the way it is presented. all you need to do is support your band and stick by them.

if your going to a show, why not bring 20 flyers and make 20 new friends? if you have the extra cds, why not burn 5 copies and bring them with you. If you a regular at a deli or some store, why not ask them to hang a poster for an upcoming show?

the help that is needed is individual, nor do I think it should have to be entirely the .info community that grassroots is relied on. I do think that if we make it a small effort to get 1 poster up or give 20 flyers out at a show, can make a difference.

this board does have members from across the US and a majority in New England and New York, so why not utilize that and make the shows here a sell out and success and the rest will spread. Its all about perception and the perception of this band is not nearly what it should.

first and foremost, this is NOT directed at you spacey.  that said, when a good faith effort is not put forward by the band and their management you cannot fault the fans.  where is the grassroots push for each and every show?  hell, in the "Dig" forum, which is supposed to help with promotions, .info still has this bit of crap from 2004

You can also find any contact info at http://www.thebreakfast.org under promo and Contact.

Thanks!

fyi, that URL goes to some empty directory.  go to the breakfast.net and their promo page, and the link to find out more about how you can help doesn\'t even take you to an email sign up (http://www.thebreakfast.net/promo.php?promo=grassrootsjoin & http://www.thebreakfast.net/promo.php are EXACTLY THE SAME)

if i was new fan who truely wanted to help out, that information would confuse me and perhaps discourage me from taking further action.  fans want it easy, and the current information is making it anything but that.

why is the guitarist leading the charge?  where is our designated grass roots leader?  i personally am on the street teams for moon boot lover (satellites), ryan montbleau band (bleau crew) and assembly of dust (tavern walkers).  we receive emails ASKING US FOR HELP.  we receive emails REMINDING US TO HELP.

perhaps i am missing something, but i still cannot find a "sign up" for the breakfast street team (whatever the hell it\'s called).  i also happen to live outside of most of the markets they frequently play in, so me flyering would be of no help.

i agree with you spacey, that everyone loves to point out what\'s wrong and who\'s fault it is.  but the big finger should be pointed squarely at the organization who has not made it easy for the fans to help out, or when their help is needed urgently.  who\'s currently responsible for running the grassroots campaign, still tim?

When I discovered PB they had a PHENOMENAL Grassroots team headed by one Grayson Brulte.
Spacey is the first fan I have noticed that has the same drive to make Grassroots work since Gray.
