tranced-out buquebus
« on: April 09, 2006, 09:05:38 pm »
listening to the buquebus from 3/27/06...sick, dancey, trancey, jungly version i\'ve been waiting to hear (during the first jam, anyway)...have they been doing this with any other tunes?

i realize trance isn\'t really what they\'re going after, but after hearing buquebus these days, i\'d like to hear them try it elsewhere.

oh and big props to jordan for those synth voices ~15 minutes in on buquebus (reminded me a little of tdb\'s magner and his heavenly choir). hopefully we can hear a little more of that in the future.

i think the band could benefit from being just a little bit more repetative during some of the trancey jams. thats what trance is all about.

4-30-04 Cafe Nine Buquebus is one of the better trance jams I\'ve heard them pull off. Great sounding recording too.

Ummmm... not too much trance I hope. It\'s not what I think of when I think of this band. I do love it in Buquebus... but I would hate to have it pop up everywhere.

for real Buquebus is getting pretty sick... at first I wasn\'t sure if I was down with the tranced-out stuff, like the first couple times they tried it in Gladys Pimp I think... but now they got this polished and Tim can bust out some pretty complex echo-melodies now.

For the record I can\'t stand Disco Biscuits. It took Breakfast to win me over into livetronica-- as long as it kicks ass!

^^
ditto

Used sparingly it can kick ass. Used too frequently and it gets cheesy quick
Fortunately Breakfast haved proved time and time again to be FAR from sell outs and I\'m pretty sure they are well aware of this delicate balance.

I like the trance-out in Buquebus especially. There are a few other songs where in the jam it works and it can really get people moving.

The bands ability to switch from a rock oriented tune to funk to spaced out trance is what makes them so good. They cover all the bases and more importantly they are becoming really great in each of the genres. It still surprises me how people can\'t get into this band.

i third the fact that, while i enjoy the tranceyness in my show going experiences at times, i certainly dont need it to be prevelant in every show... for that is the very reason i wouldn\'t be able to tour with bands a la the biscuits, but obviously can get down at a dance party or two of there\'s...
and like spacey said, it is the absolute dominance in the many genre\'s the breakfast covers that makes them the sickest band on the seen, rock on

ps buquebus trance = :disco:
taints rule, gypsies drool!
