Not booting after added RAM is a common issue.   Try putting one stick of RAM in at a time to try and determine if there is an issue with one of the sticks or slots.   Are you getting anything on the screen with the new RAM in it?

As far as an fdisk prompt.   Don\'t play around with that.   It "reset" your computer\'s hard drive forcing a reinstall of windows and losing everything.   In windows try doing a disk check to see if there are any errors on your hard drive.

What kind or error are you getting when you try to burn a cd?   Memory speed should not be an issue as the new memory isn\'t really all the faster then the old stuff, there is just more of it.

It could be that the memory you purchased is PC133 and your system was designed for PC100 so it could be a compatibility issue...if you put your old memory back in and it boots up than that is probably the issue.

But reading the rest of this it would seem entirely possible that you may have messed something else up with your recovery cd\'s.

If your old memory works than I\'d return the new stuff you bought and exchange for PC100. And then I\'d try to not rely on a music forum for your tech support issues!!!!

Good luck!

I was trying to be humorous rather than critical, the dangers of neglecting to add the ;-)

Not questioning others knowledge, interested to know how it turns out for you...

have a good holiday!

actually, you were right with the PC133 and PC100 advice.  The burner works great and I\'m gonna go out and try to get some new ram that hopefully will work in my machine.  Thanks for the help!
