Completely agree on spoon.   However, definitely not their best album ever.  But still a good listen.  Esp enjoyed "Nobody gets me but you" and "Got Nuffin".   If anyone out there wants to start getting into them, I suggest listening to earlier albums first. :)

Mavis Staples - You are not alone
(Thank you, Mr. Jeff T****y for introducing her to a new generation by producing this awesome mix of blues  and soul...)

Jack Johnson - To The Sea

Sufjan Stevens - The Age of Adz

Arcade Fire - The Suburbs  and Arcade Fire - Contra  (both were in this same year, right??)

Ray LaMontagne - God Willin and the Creek Don\'t Rise

Josh Ritter - So Runs the World Away

Am I the only person in the world that thought the MGMT album was subpar in comparison to Oracular Spectaculor??  I was highly disappointed....

if you were expecting something similar to oracular spectacular, it doesn\'t surprise me that you were disappointed. i\'ve heard that same sentiment from many. obvioulsy, i thought it was awesome mostly because of how different it was (and how well it was done). they took a big risk by getting psychedelic and i think it really paid off. i would like to see some more of their pop sensibility come through with their next album though...just because they\'re so good at it

Agree with Skye\'s last two picks... Ray and Ritter...

And I would put Dr. Dog\'s "Shame" above both of those. And Sufjan Steven\'s "The Age of Adz" probably at first place.

Been sort of a weak year, overall, though.
