No more free Breakfast
« Reply #90 on: February 26, 2010, 10:31:53 pm »
When The Breakfast pays off all debts and decides to call it quits, what do we all do?
I know! We can all meet at sports bars and watch golf!
They need MONEY!!!! C\'mon ya\'all great fans, let\'s make the guys some MONEY!!!!!

p.s.I went back and read all my posts on this issue, which upset some of you people.
I don\'t see where I said anything that was so offensive.
We are tossing some ideas around to maybe try and save this band from extinction.
Whoever stops in to .info please bring your sense of humor!
I apologize to anyone I may have turned away from this band.
There\'s an ironic twist of humor behind things in life, I just like to throw it out there.
If some people are sensitive to this type of humor, again I apologize!

ken i like yur message. tell the breakfast to only stream music for a fee from now on. and also tour like nobody has toured before. 2 shows a day. that\'ll teach \'em (\'em meaning the listeners)
i think it\'s turning back on me / i\'m down on the upside

Maybe they can negotiate a deal with a mix engineer where they pay a reduced rate in exchange for giving that engineer work mixing all their shows.  then sell high quality, well mixed recordings of their shows on the website live phish style.  i know, as a mix engineer, i\'d definitely cut a band a sweet deal if i knew i\'d be getting consistent work...

yea totally.  i do pretty darn good mixes on my home rig.  did all the premixing for Live As Is at home.  so there wouldn\'t be the expense of using an outside room.

Whoever thinks I came up with this No More Free Breakfast thread, should understand I didn\'t!
I don\'t even know how to start a thread!
Someone put my name on this idea of no more free Breakfast!
This wasn\'t something I came up with to present to you people.
People shouldn\'t start threads with someones name on it without the persons approval!
I was more interested in finding ways the band could generate more funds.
The declaration of no more free Breakfast was NOT my own words or statement of what
was needed for the good of The Breakfast.
The person who started this thread under my name should let themselves be known!

I think there is a good middle ground here.  I\'m sure there are plenty of people that would throw $5 towards something, but not willing to spend $15-$20 on a tshirt.  If ken\'s DVD\'s (for example) were available for $5 at the table that might be a perfect inexpensive item that would support the band...especially considering they have been given away for free in the past.  This way it\'s not a "charity" but the band would receive income they wouldn\'t have normally seen and the fan gets to go home with something.

We tried selling the DVD\'s for quite awhile, nobody seemed that interested.
There\'s a few hard core fans who want everything,
most people at a show are saving their money for drinks.
Matt and Chris should be putting more of my videos up on youtube.
I\'m 40yrs. behind with my computer skills.
I still feel there are hundreds of shows out for free download,
it\'s enough for people to check the band out with.
Future shows should be recorded nicely and sold in some
format that would satisfy the people buying the shows.
Times have changed people.
The Breakfast players are in their 30\'s.
They could make more money as a Taco Bell drive thru window worker.
They play for their love of music, life, the universe & mostly
for all you people who care so much for what they do.
They travel to please you people, and help make you feel good about life.
Their music goes beyond music, it\'s a voice from the deep
corner of the depths of what our souls once have known.
They bring that to us...again and again...
