actually, floyd were in talks with kubrick about composing the score for 2001 and it was pretty much a done deal, but when kubrick played classical music on the set during shooting, he liked it enough that he called off the floyd deal.

Movie - released 1968
Song - released and first played in 1971

It\'s possible, but I doubt that Floyd would shelf this song live until \'71 if it was written 3 years earlier...

They might have been lined up to do the soundtrack, but I can\'t imagine that they\'d be that bent out of shape that they\'d write an monster of a song like that as an FU...

Argue abt it all you want but the fact is back then it would have been too fucking expensive to do this if they weren\'t getting paid for the score and to do it on a whim is not something Roger Waters would have been behind for the money it would have cost.
It\'s a simple coincidence just like Dorothy and Dark Side.
Worrying is like praying for something you don't want.

watched. Saw no correlation between music and video.

I did that back in (98?) when it first came out and while it was cool, I didn\'t see anything that impressive to be a correlation.
