LIVE WEBCAST: Toads Place @ 10PM TONIGHT 5-16-2009

I\'m glad you all enjoyed the webcast. According to the show details on my blogtv page, there were a total of 298 viewers!!!! The most I saw was 53 at the same time during the 2nd set. That\'s pretty dam good for only announcing a few hours before the show. Thanks all the people that reached out to other boards, texts, and networking site for getting the word out.  I had a great time doing it and reading the live chats while the band played. It was awesome!  f-in technology.

We couldn\'t announce it earlier because:
1. Didn\'t know if it was going to work. I knew toads had wifi, but didn\'t know the bandwidth or the stability of the network.  I did a speed test when I got to toads and throttled back 1/2 of the total upload speed.  Some isp have  "speed boost" and have short bursts of upload/download capability and then get slower.  I wanted to make sure the connection was not going to drop out.  It sounds like it went pretty smooth.
2. If local people knew this was going happen in advance, they may decide not to go.  I\'m sure the band will want a certain number of presale tickets sold before they allow another webcast at toads.  The numbers at toads could have been better.

I have to thank hare from Brooklyn for doing the macpods webcast at Eric\'s piano store and Eric for inviting him.  I couldn\'t believe how easy it was when I saw him do it.  I had to try it!  I wish I had known about this site years earlier, I could have fed kens camera into broad cast. Better late than never.

also, The high quality encoder is really cool and worked out nice.  I was able to adjust the the audio and video bit rates and choose stereo 44.1khz audio. This is a new feature and  big step up from the standard encoder.

i would help with a taping of a show (video wise), but no one has ever asked me.  and i dont want to step on the toes of people who do it currently.   studio just got in tons of new equipment this week thanks to state grants (thanks taxpayers), including 6 brand new mini HD cameras.  If we ever wanted to do an elaborate multi shot of a show, we can.   just someone needs to approach me.

that would be cool. we should do it when we have 5 or 6 people plus ken willing to run cameras all night.

6 HD cameras, that would be a nice project to work on.  we\'ll talk.

Thanks for doing this though Matt.

Just jumping in here, but I\'d love to help out with recording.  The impression I had was that Matt, Dave, Chris, Ken, et al. had it under control.  But if you need more help, please let me know.  It might even get me to more shows.  "Honey, I *have to* go to the show tonight.  They need me to record it."  ;-)
