World Needs Us, The

@ THE WORLD NEEDS US

bring me the answer bring me the key
bring me the life that is waiting for me
i\'ve gone through obstacles been through the fire
i still haven\'t found my hearts greatest desire

tired of jealousy, tired of pride  i\'m bringing out whats been brewing inside
working my craft and honing my art, you can\'t love another if you don\'t do your part

its been a struggle and i\'ve hit a block
but you know what they say about ships in the dock
i\'ve been so lucky, i\'ve been so blessed
i made myself a really fine mess

where we going nobody knows
when you die it\'s not about money or clothes
living with power, living with grace
i\'m gonna die with a smile on my face

The world needs us to be
more than we thought we were previously
and the world needs us to show
a side of ourselves we may not even know

the world will still go on without us
the world will still go on without us
but we cannot go on without her
no we cannot go on without her

give me a heart and a soul thats refined
an expressive body and positive mind
free me from vices free me from fear
free me from anything that keeps me from here

when you put your god in the heavens above
you\'re no longer working for brotherly love
but this is our time and this is our place
now awake to the challenge we face

and the world needs us to smile
cause things ain\'t that bad every once in a while (life is worth living)

and the world needs us to cry
to polish us and wash us out from inside (ending the suffering)

and the world needs us to live
so we can learn how to serve and to give (serving and giving)

and the world needs us to die
cause were part of nature like the bright blue sky

World Needs us: Grew on me quickly after the first time i heard it. well written and good jam segment. my only criticism is the vocals (specifically in the verses)...which i think could be helped if matt maybe tried belting out, rather than relying on falcetto. All in all, i like the song.

this song has a lot of potential.  good composition, good lyrics... definitely good material for a great studio recording, as well as being a cool jam vehicle.

however, matt doesn\'t sing falsetto at all in this song, so i\'m not quite sure what you\'re talking about ds9237846762453485837.  the last verse IS belted..... :?:

i knoew teh last verse is belted...i think he should do that in all the verses.  I would consider the first couple verses sort of falcetto.  maybe he should drop down an octive in those verses, then do what he normally does in the last verse.

nah man, matt definitely sings those first verses in the modal register.  falsetto is an entirely different register.  (i.e. that little voice adrian uses in buquebus)

SER song. Very good point about bringing it into the studio, Jim. I\'m really liking the acoustic version.

I love this song. It has grown on me a ton since it debuted. I\'m beginning to like Matt\'s voice more and more (on this track at least). I very much respect his decision to take voice lessons. Finally someone taking the title "professional musician" for its full worth.

Between this jam and Rush\'s they\'ve recently produced two originals that will bring people to their knees.
The crickets and the rust-beetles scuttled among the nettles of the sagethicket. "Vamanos amigos," he whispered, and threw the busted leather flintscraw over the loose weave of the saddlecock. And they rode on in the friscalating dusklight.  --Eli Cash

Cool song, and it has grown on me since I first heard it. The jam, oh the jam portion of the tune is proving to be a ser platform to go off on. Check out the last boat cruise version. Is this Striker\'s first contribution? What a debut if it is. Same with Chris, strong first tune to bring in!

I don\'t think the world needs us. I think the world needs serious help, but people aren\'t gonna do shit to fix it.

When paris hilton gets involved in the presidential election you know this whole world is going to shit.

yea the title of the song is actually contradicted by the line the world will go on with out us, but we can not go on with out her. We need us would be a more accurate title.

maybe the world in the title refers to all the people of the world tho. that would make sense.
