I love the fact that matt knows nothing of the dead or phish....

Yet he is taking the band to that next level...

that phish and the dead were both on....

where the improvisation leads to epic, emotional,moving, unexpected, transcendental,  unforgettable  exhilirating, blissful musical moments.

What a paradox.

I just can\'t wait for the real collaborations to commence on new songs...I want to see what matt has to bring to the table with song structures, themes, and comping styles...

and the last daniel street...GSOT, my fav one...

sometimes matt is great during jams, and other times is lost, but thats very easy to do with music like the breakfast. only time will tell if it was the right move for the band.

dont get me wrong matt is a very talented musician and a super nice guy, but sometimes it seems like hes on a different page then the rest of the band, probably due to the chemistry that the band has built up over the years that he has yet to establish. that is why i said only time will tell, i mean hes only been playing with the band for a few months. i do love the jazzy element that he brings to the table though

^ I feel this way as well. Sorry if that upsets anyone.
Like kartoon said, he is great but sometimes it seems like he is trying for a completely different sound than the rest of the band and it just does not fit. hes uber talented though probably just having a hard time finding the groove at some points, at other points he is dead on.

thanks sally and kartoon...

but i am sold on the spontaneous jazz solo\'s, but then again these guys pack tight jammed out heat...so it\'s all subjective i guess...

i\'m just not pouncing on this guy like a horny rabbit, i still think he needs some time to refine his style and sound...it hasn\'t been that long.
