i like their songs, and i like their albums. i\'ve seen them 15-20 times, and they just don\'t do it for me live... i don\'t know what it is, but i\'d rather not hear them jam... but i like their songs... weird..

not so weird... I know where you\'re coming from. I liked more them before I saw them live a few times, and I sort of felt like they shouldn\'t try to be a jamband...

I hear ya...Seeing them live is hit or miss. I have heard moe shows that I couldnt finsh listening, while last time I saw them at the Palace they were freakin off the hook. Bottom line is they write catchy songs....I havnt listened to my moe. cds in awhile and yet I can still recite their songs to ya...
How real is that?

I can understand where y\'all are coming from, moe.\'s definitely not for everyone.  I don\'t really see them as trying to be a jamband, they\'re just being theirselves.  Their music(more often than not) is a lot harder than most jambands, some people who are used to the dead/phish-style jambands may not agree with it too much, but it suits me fine.

Their style of jamming is also a lot different than most jambands.  They tend to stick to long drawn out solos and switch off back and forth between them, as opposed to a band like Phish who all work together in any given jam and guide it into certain directions.  As far as musicianship is concerned, they\'re all top-notch, I don\'t think they\'re skill on their respective instruments can be argued(esp. Rob).

That Palace show you speak of was one of my highlights of last year, without a doubt the flat out funnest show I\'ve ever been to.  From the Meat jam that went into Rockafella Skank to the mariachi band joining them for Mexico, it was a night to remember.

All they basically are is five guys going out on stage with the sole purpose of having fun, and more often than not it works out for the best.

Exactly! Thats what I like about them....You just go to a moe show to have fun and its not like phish where soo much is expected of you as a band...

oh, thanks Grayson, I didn\'t see that post for some reason.

Yes Dan, I think the guys in UM are hugely talented. Don\'t know their music ALL  that well (unfortunatley I don\'t have a single album or show), but every time I\'ve seen them they have torn it up.
