I can understand where y\'all are coming from, moe.\'s definitely not for everyone. I don\'t really see them as trying to be a jamband, they\'re just being theirselves. Their music(more often than not) is a lot harder than most jambands, some people who are used to the dead/phish-style jambands may not agree with it too much, but it suits me fine.
Their style of jamming is also a lot different than most jambands. They tend to stick to long drawn out solos and switch off back and forth between them, as opposed to a band like Phish who all work together in any given jam and guide it into certain directions. As far as musicianship is concerned, they\'re all top-notch, I don\'t think they\'re skill on their respective instruments can be argued(esp. Rob).
That Palace show you speak of was one of my highlights of last year, without a doubt the flat out funnest show I\'ve ever been to. From the Meat jam that went into Rockafella Skank to the mariachi band joining them for Mexico, it was a night to remember.
All they basically are is five guys going out on stage with the sole purpose of having fun, and more often than not it works out for the best.
