The Demo Is Mixed Better Than Any Breakfast Album

Wow.  Fantastic levels.  Even at such an incredibly compressed level it sounds amazing.  They should keep these versions for the album, sans Living Daylights.

where can I hear this of which you speak?

nm found it on Myspace :)

World Needs Us ----- I\'d like to hear this song a little heavier and darker between the choruses. I\'ve heard way more rocking versions live.

Reel Time ----- Sounds kinda sparse, I\'d like to hear more drums & bass come through in this song.

The Message ---- "Angels in the air tonight" is the best part. The "come along with me" part sounds too sparse and non-rocking. The hippidy hop part sounds ok but Tim could be bustin some nastier funky riffs. Maybe I\'ve been listening to too much Rage and Audioslave lately. "There was a time when you knew all of this...." = quality from there on out

Living Daylights ---- Even a little more attitude in the vocals would be cool. Like 311 "Down" or something. Otherwise I\'m not a big fan of this song.

...

huh I guess my review of these demos is a little less than glowing. I know a demo is a demo and they don\'t sound as good as final cuts. But.... unless the final cuts are gonna be quite a bit better than this.. my vote goes for

Live Double Album!

I like LD. Not sure why they don\'t really fuck with Tim\'s voice in the studio though. It\'s too clean, I want it to haunt me in a way he can\'t naturally do, that\'s the beauty of the studio imo. However the backup vocals are pretty ghostly and I dig.

Hard to say much about The Message. I guess it sounds alright, "Come along with me..." vocals are so hoo haa though. I\'m actually impressed with the mix on Matt\'s rap vocals, makes it more than bearable for once. I just hate this song though so...

The outro from 5:05 on is really nice though. Layers sound great.

Reel Time----brutal studio translation. Maybe just vocally speaking... again?

World Needs Us sounds the best of the batch instrumentally imo. But these vocals are ridiculous.

I hate to be back on this vocal bashing kick but I can\'t pretend like it impresses me any more than it used to. This band sings with their hands, not their lungs. I will never talk about my lack of support in this dept. again.

The crickets and the rust-beetles scuttled among the nettles of the sagethicket. "Vamanos amigos," he whispered, and threw the busted leather flintscraw over the loose weave of the saddlecock. And they rode on in the friscalating dusklight.  --Eli Cash

I agree some bad ass creepy effects on tims LD vocals would add a lot to the song.
