Massive riot at former Breakfast venue!
« on: March 25, 2008, 02:28:11 pm »
Good Times Emporium in Somerville, MA is a place PB has played a few times.  It is also the scene of tremendous sketchiness every day of the week.  I go sometimes to play pool or arcade games, but my favorite part is always making it back to my car alive.  In October, someone was blasted in the parking lot over a bad drug deal.

But this takes the cake:  A riot involving over 100 people...in the kids birthday section...on Easter Sunday.  WOW!

Something doesn\'t make sense to me - 100+ people fighting/rioting and only 3 people arrested?  Either the number is severely exaggerated or BostonPD isn\'t doing their job well enough.  Either way, I can\'t believe that there were this many people out on Easter Sunday when they should have been home spending time with their families (if they celebrated the holiday).

Dude, it\'s an alternate universe in Good Times.  You\'re picturing wholesome nuclear families who live in a house with two parents and 2.5 kids spending time together on Easter.  These are not the people at Good Times.

The people who frequent Good Times don\'t give a fuck about Easter or any other day.  They are there on weekdays in the middle of the day and on Saturday nights at midnight with the parents getting loaded and the kids running off playing video poker and slot machines.  (Yes, kids of any age are encouraged to do this...you put real money in but only get tickets out when you win so it\'s legal.)  Families seem to be anywhere from 6-15 people.  I\'ve never seen less than 50 people in that birthday area.  Sometimes I go in on Mondays since I have the day off and it\'s always packed at 1PM with little kids playing slots with parents nowhere in sight and older kids playing hooky from school.

Just trust me, 100 people is nothing...the only thing shocking is that nobody got shot.

They wouldn\'t shut the whole place down over a fight between 10 people.  It must have been hundreds.

Did I mention that PB played this place twice?  Figures, haha.

SO wish I had been there for this...would have made a great, great Youtube video.

Nope - as soon as I heard about the scope of the brawl in the title, I knew it wasn\'t The Breakfast crowd, and rather the lowest common diversity denominator from some of Boston\'s finest neighborhoods immediately came to mind.  The names of the arrested pretty much kangfirmed it for me.

I remember the first time they played there.  If I remember correctly, there was a pretty sweet Peace Frog and Dave was in 7th Heaven because he was running the lights.  Good Times!

Brett Cusick was convinced that was the best place to ever play at.  What ever happened to all those old school PB fans?
