Come ON. Was there really any doubt...
« on: January 27, 2008, 03:10:39 pm »
these guys would find the right guy on Bass? I understand feeling weird about not having Ron on Bass but did anyone really think the music would not be up to par?
This is The Breakfast people. They don\'t do anything half assed musically.( yes that is also an admission the "atrocious keyboard experiment" served it\'s purpose even if I did not dig it as much they did rock the fuck out).
I posted this in the Post Ron-Breakfast thread in Dec. and that is why reading all the posts about how surprised people seem to be that it\'s still The Breakfast is amusing.

Dude I already told you.

They are gonna get a new guy on Bass and people will compare him to Ron.

The Breakfast are not going anywhere but National!

The reason Ron left is he did not want to tour. The rest of the guys do and still have the desire to bring their music to as many people as possible.

Tim and Adrian are one of the best things to happen to music in so long and their vision deserves to be manifested.
This band has gone through so fucking much in their history and the fact that Tim and Adrian want to soldier on despite the loss of desire from 2 guys they started this thing with makes me more of a fan of them then ever!

The elation I have felt listening to Breakfast music again since Matt joined has been wonderful and I have every faith in Adrian, Tim and Matt to find a Bass Player that not only fits the music but will win our hearts also.

i feel like this is a response to my post in the daniel street thread, so...

it\'s not that, leith. the whole thing for me is that it sounds this good this soon. of course i trusted the band\'s decision in who they were bringing on board, but i also expected it to be much more different and take a bit of getting used to at first than it actually was. i was expecting a miscue here and there last night, and i really don\'t remember *any*.

one thing i didn\'t do is compare him to ron - and i\'ll probably never do that. it seems pretty pointless if you ask me.

Pointless? Maybe. But natural? Surely.
The crickets and the rust-beetles scuttled among the nettles of the sagethicket. "Vamanos amigos," he whispered, and threw the busted leather flintscraw over the loose weave of the saddlecock. And they rode on in the friscalating dusklight.  --Eli Cash

You\'re feeling is on point. Having just gone through a similar situation with TLG only reinforced my belief that nothing would change in the overall Breakfast Sound.
It is something that Tim and Adrian have been perfecting for the past 9-10 years and I really did not see them throwing it out and starting over.
A big reason why I have just been hohum about the change. I mean yeah I dug Ron in the band but I did not see this being as big a deal as most on this board did.

Yeah I feel it\'s pretty pointless to compare the 2 bassists also but it\'s gonna happen.
