Now, before i begin this, i want to say....I loved living in downtown new haven. I miss it at times, and then other times when i am about to fall asleep on a thursday night, I am SOOOO HAPPY i don\'t live near Gotham Citi anymore. Let\'s just say, Thursday nights were painful experiences for sleep patterns.
But I want to give warnings to everyone who does look into this. The company, Residences at Ninth Square, has AWESOME locations on Orange Street. I lived at 44 Orange above the Royal Palace, JK Hair Art, across from Miso, around the corner from other amazing resturants (Kudeta, being one). You can walk anywhere, not worry of the parking. (so miss the daily walks to OOlong Tea Bar!) (And no I am not paid by the city of new haven for tourism!)
However, the noise factor, horrible. And its just not club noise. That i knew i was getting myself into. 50% of the building was state aid. The other 50% yale students, young professionals. Not that I am trying to be judgemental, but I can kind of tell the difference. Noise in the hallways, blunt guts on the stairwell, smoke alarm going off every month because somebody doesnt know how to blow smoke out a window, beer spilled in the elevator, drug deals in the lobby (and I am not talking ****, lets try crack). ANd this was a NICE BUILDING. Rent is $1500. (split between my best girl and I....not too bad) It was a real shame for the working class kids living there like us. No matter how much we complained, the office never listened. I just felt for the money were spending that I could walk into the lobby (which has a 24 hour doorman) and feel like i wasnt going to get mugged and have it at least not wreaking of urine.
Besides that, I would still recommend the place if it wasnt for the fact after we moved out, it took 2 months to get our security deposit. We just got it finally because I think they were tired of seeing my face. So Renters, be weary.
