I am sorry that he died but I think that he should have scaled back how "intimate" he was with dangerous animals when he decided to have a family. When you have a wife and kids it is time to stop poking the bear.

^^yeah but a stingray is not a dangerous animal.  usually a sting will hurt , but would never kill you.  It\'s that he got stung exactly on his heart

Hey take that animation down, it\'s awful. The guy died and left behind a wife and two kids. People are sick heartless fucks.

This makes me really really sad. His love for animals was unmatched, and he did a lot to raise awareness as well as money for them.

I also don\'t think he was particularly wreckless around animals, and I do NOT think he "had it coming." Everything he did around them came from years of experience and was very calculated. He knew what he was doing and was actually quite careful. The guys at the local reptile exotics store are twice as wreckless as he was.

:( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

I really can\'t believe this.

Please keep in mind that the name of the documentary he was filming is "Ocean’s Deadliest on the Great Barrier Reef". Any animal that has a 6 inch barb on its tail has the potential to be dangerous even if it is docile by nature. Steve made his reputation by getting close to dangerous animals, it was something he did all his life. He had an incredible knowledge of animals and almost 40 years of experience trapping and handling them. If any good can come of his death I hope that it reminds people that no one really knows what an animal is thinking and that caution must always be exercised when dealing with them.

Here is a great obituary

*I removed the animation at Joc\'s request. Anyone who missed it and wants to see it can do a google image search for "irwin stingray". I posted the least offensive one that you will find.

This sucks, everyone knows that.  The only thing anyone should be arguing about is what the title should be of the Breakfast song in his honor.  (And there needs to be a Breakfast song in his honor.)  Some ideas:

"Protector Of Blubladan"
"The Lizard King"
"Gator Madness"
"The Late And The Really, Truly Great"
"Get A Load Of This Beauty Sleep!"

what\'s funny is that, it didn\'t occur to me beforehand, but while singing \'naked in the rain\' last night, all i could think about was steve irwin..

Quote
Standin\' on the corner of civilization
There\'s a time there\'s a place for me
In a world where I can\'t be found
Cold and mean people give me the creeps

Going to the jungle where the elephant roams
Got to get away gonna make it my home

Losing my taste for the human race
Social grace is a waste of time
It\'s absurd when I look around
So sublime that we blow my mind

Naked in the rain with a killer whale
I can\'t taste the salt when I lick his tail

Naked in the rain
Doctor Doolittle what\'s your secret
Give it to me doctor
Don\'t keep it

I never met an animal that I didn\'t like
You can come to me I won\'t bite
Don\'t you know dog is man\'s best friend
There is some love that you can\'t fight

Naked in the rain with black tattoos
Runnin\' through the woods laughing at the blues

Naked in the rain
Doctor Doolittle what\'s your secret
Give it to me doctor
Don\'t keep it

Listen to the talking heart in my chest
With this gift good Lord I am blessed
There\'s a lump and it\'s in my throat
I\'m in love with the wilderness

Naked in the river skinny dippin\' my way
In the waterfall I just wanna play

Naked in the rain
Doctor Doolittle what\'s your secret
Give it to me doctor
Don\'t keep it
Naked in the rain
Doctor Doolittle what\'s your secret
Give it to me doctor
Don\'t keep it
