advice on a present
« on: May 12, 2005, 01:42:01 pm »
Ok, so every year on my birthday i buy myself something stupid for a present.  Well, that day happens to be today and I have no idea what to get.  I\'m thinking about an Ipod.  Does anybody have any advice on these?  Are they worth getting?  Is there a better model than another one?  Any advice would be great.

Thanks

IRiver = better.

i have one, its fantastic and i like it a lot more than all the iPods ive fucked around with. color screen, am/fm radio, drive for storing pictures, voice recorder, and you can actually even record the radio when listening. not to mention it was $100 cheaper than the iPod w/the same memory, but that was in December so i dont know what has happened since.

Iriver, huh.....never even heard of that, although i haven\'t done much research.  I\'ll have to look into them.  How much memory do they have?

theyre obviously gonna have different versions, mine has just under 20mb/10,000 songs.. although 10,000 songs in our live/jams genre equals anywhere from 3,000-5,000 tunes.

the only thing i like more about the iPod is they have the arm for the car stereo that plugs right into the lighter or outlet, its really stable. for the iRiver and other mp3 players you gotta buy the Belkin FM transmitter, it works well, its cheaper, and you can actually use it on any stereo b/c it runs on batteries too. its just not as stable, guess its not really a big deal.

so to listen to it in the car, does it put out a certain frequency and you have to set you radio dial to that channel??  i\'m alittle confused on this part cause that is one of the key selling points for me (playing it in the car stereo).
