UM @ The Belly -Up

Great Show. Conspirator opened but due to preshow activities outside I only saw the last song. Jake sat in. It was cool. I think I rather like these Bisco characters and the DJ was dope.
UM :
I: Jam > Sociable Jimmy > Sweetness > Stewart*, Roulette, The Fuzz > JO > Kimble, Miss Gradenko, Mullet (Over), Andy\'s Last Beer

II: Nopener, Divisions > JO > Divisions, Robot World^>Stewart^> Run Like Hell/Another Brick jam^ > Sweet Child O Mine jam^, Padgett\'s > Anchor Drops > Walletsworth, Dirty Love, Snucka pt. 3

E: Women Wine and Song

*Last Train Home and Glory teases
^w/ Magner on keys w/ Joel and Brownstein replacing Stasik

1st set was for me a bit ehhh. 2nd set was incredible! I am a bit biased as Divisions is my favorite song and they ripped it up w/ a Jazz Odyssey in the middle!
The Dirty Love was decent but I just kept thinking man The Breakfast would tear this song a new one.
Overall I had a blast and danced alot but I did not leave drenched in sweat as I would have if The Breakfast had just got done. FACT!!!!!!!!!!!
UM is a solid band and I noticed that they act big and thus get treated accordingly. I say this because I have NEVER seen a band bring in their own full Soundboard console which took up dance space like I did tonight. Crazy. The light show was decent for technobeams. Their LD knows what he\'s doing for sure.
The Major difference I saw/heard tonight between the 2 bands is this. Hand Signals.pfft. The Breakfast LISTEN to each other waaaaaaay better then the guys in UM do. I have seen The Breakfast take a jam and turn it on it\'s ear in a split second with all the guys jammin\' eyes closed! I do not think I will be seeing that anytime soon from UM. Anyway I am glad I went and will see them again most likely tomorrow in L.A. but tonite only confirmed that The Breakfast is the way more talented band for my $$$$$$.

out of curiosity, what do you think about this:

Would it be wrong for the Breakfast to cover an Umphreys McGee tune?

LOL that would be sweet. It would put to rest the "who is better " argument for sure!

interesting indeed.

people would fall in love with The Breakfast immediately, once they knew that 4 is the magic number...

well, actually 3 is, but 4 is now...
