WOWZERS!!!The SallyAlli birthday show did not disappoint. My first highlight of the night was WTF > Mooboo\'s. Mooboo\'s still proves it\'s one of the best songs ever written. Honey Butter was silliness. They nailed Golgi. New Beginning is really growing on me and last night\'s made me like it a lot. Badge was very fun and another one nailed. Merge > Tuneage was the second highlight. Ser stage antics going on. I absolutely LOVE Tuneage and don\'t understand the bashing it gets. The antics didn\'t stop for a minute as Gladys was total craziness complete with Tim "making love to my camera" (pic to follow) It will be my new avatar.

Last night also proved that Ron Spears can have fun on stage. I\'ve got the pics to prove it.

Stevie\'s whistle being totally owned by the sound guy: priceless!!!

Shake and Bake!!!

Almost forgot: Where else but in New Hampshire can you see two homosexual dogs going at it right in the middle of the dance floor. :lol:rotfl:lol: (at the end of the night when the band was packing up). They must have heard "time to pack up".

I\'d have to say the best part was the part you left out. The second set starting Rufus. I came with intensions to see either a cut me some slack or a rufus, and i must say i dont even mind not having heard some slack. That rufus was ser. I do agree thought about the rest of the show. Tim was playing like he was tripping, ron ripped the bass apart, and how rediculous (rediculous meaning good) does adrian look behind that snazzy new drum set. Hopefully he will have some new cymbals to compliment them soon.

Happy Birthday to Sallyalli again and ironically the next stone church lands on my 21st birthday. And 2 days shy of 4/20. Kinda odd if you ask me.

I never saw and proof of those confetti cupcakes. Touché to the lucky few.

Wow.  Let me get a few good keystrokes down for this one!  Mooboo\'s opener?!  Been a long time since I can remember Mooboo\'s opening a show.  The show was about 5 minutes old and it was already better than the night before, which really got me into it.  Not that this came as a surprise given the comparative venue disparity.  Stone Church v. Bill\'s Bar is a matchup on par with Madison Square Garden v. New Haven Coliseum.  Anyways, they exploded every jam.  Walls and layers of sound flying in from all angles.  Using all his keys and guitar and pedals Tim was making 7 or 8 distinct sounds simultaneously at several points.  All the segues were money, the type of segues where if you are just getting into the band you couldn\'t possibly know where one song was ending and the next beginning.  Then after a huge Honey Butter that I thought would close the set, they bust out Golgi Apparatus.  And by bust out I mean bust out.  That\'s the stuff that setlist dreams are made of.  Can\'t believe I posted on Thursday in the Webster\'s thread that only a setlist including Divided Sky would have sufficed for that show, then they bust out a new Phish song including a Divided Sky tease 2 days later.  The last time I saw them debut a Phish song was 11/17/00 when they pulled out Stash in Butterfield dorm.  I immediately had flashbacks to that during Golgi and felt like I was in a time warp for the rest of the show after that.  The party jams, the low ceiling, the college crowd, the first 10 rows hopelessly locked in... This was the best first set I\'ve ever seen.

Take a look at the setlist for set II.  That\'s a complete second set in only 5 songs.  That means some major-league J-A-M-S.  Rufus and Merge were bigtime per usual, but the thing that excites me most is that they built such a ferocious set around 2 brand new songs and another debut cover.  Tuneage was wayyy over the top from the night before.  Tim was doing stuff on the Rhodes that I didn\'t know he had in him, then was call-and-responsing with himself on the Rhodes and guitar.  The Breakfast offers something completely unique right now with one man being able to mix guitar and keys together into one thought in a solo or jam.  It\'s really working and it\'s something almost nobody else can offer since the standard is to split the two instruments between two people.  But who wants to be standard?  Anyhow, everyone completely lost themselves in all the jams, and they seemed to go on forever.  I just stood there laughing at the end of the show, utterly owned.  Hadn\'t reached that point in a while.  Love when it happens.  The Gladys Pimp encore was one of those great encores where there is no energy dropoff from end of second set.  They just come onstage and jump right back in the pocket.  To top off everything they did the old end-the-song-but-then-jump-right-back-in-the-jam trick to drive the place nuts.  What a show.  What a venue.  Was this the greatest Breakfast show I\'ve been to?  I don\'t know, I\'m not sure I can track that anymore.  But suffice it to say that this show looked and felt like all of the absolute best Breakfast shows I\'ve ever been to.  Thanks everyone for making it happen!

hehe still waking up and clearing the haze from last nights show, but, WOW!!! Those guys played with a new confidence that I\' have never seen eminating from the band.... just completely owning the stage.

Any show that opens with Mooboo\'s is destined for greatness, clearly... last night being no exception.  i love the way that song consistently captivates me, and those folks in the crowd who don\'t know every note and word feel like they are truly missing out on some amazing secret... it was a big opener and quite appropriate for the first song of possibly one of the best breakfast sets i\'ve ever seen...

gbfb was great as usual, kept the crowd moving and dancing.... but wtf>mooboo\'s was where the heat was... it seemed to shift the energy forward quite a bit in the venue, which then became completely tipped into overdrive by that tremendous honey butter....

but certainly, the phish bustout! holy crap i didnt see that coming from a mile away. if you\'re gonna cover a song like golgi you have to absolutely own it.... tim nailed every note with more soul than i\'ve heard trey anastasio play with in the last 10 years.... HUGE crowd reaction, and some of the most confident playing from each member of the trio.... well done...

set 2 rufus opener just sorta picked right up where set 1 left off.... holy huge rufus. i had no concept of time but it seemed like the song was about 30 minutes, and hit all the right spots that it usually does.

it was then that a huge vacuum came and sucked all the energy out of the venue.... if A New Beginning is that way, i am sprinting away in the opposite direction. yeah it was the first time I heard that song, and yes, i\'ll give it another listen, but YUCK! not well timed at all....

thank goodness for that merge>tunage.... i haven\'t heard merge in MONTHS and have heard them teasing it/dancing around it at shows, finally last night moments before they busted in i remember yelling "just play fucking MERGE"... (fitzy, you may have caught that on tape)... but the segue into Tunage was hot and that song has got some potential, i was glad to have heard it at the stone church for the first time.

gladys pimp encore: HOTNESS!!!!! everyone just completely let loose and gave whatever was left in them to that song... the band included. great, great encore!

all in all, the evening was completely fluid and well-executed. the band was confident, relaxed, and comfortable, and it translated beautifully into one of the best breakfast shows i\'ve ever seen (rivaled only by the puppethouse today at least)....

phenomenal show...PHENOMENAL!!!  i totally forgot how much the guys sound so freaking good at the stone church and how  i am completely pwn3d (<--had to throw that in there HAHA) at every show at the church.  i was bummed that i missed the mooboos opener (had wanted to here that all weekend) but when they brought it back in after WTF, i was almost in tears.  honey butter was nutso and golgi was off the chain!!!  rufus was bangin as usual, but to segue that into new beginnning...i have to agree w/ the princess, it wasnt that cool (although this is the 2nd time i heard the song, i guess i gotta wait till it grows on me).  badge was a great cover, merge was rippin, and tuneage--that song rocks out hard, im extremely diggin it.  and gladys encore was prob the best encore song ever.  thanks to the band for a great 2 nights!  it was a good way to start my first 2 2007 shows, looking forward to a fantastic year.  my body is hurtin today...and my voice has semi-returned.  thanks to postom, igzy and mamalaka for the great company, and great seeing everyone!!  seeya next week homies.

oh ya- and sallialli- hope you had the best 21st b-day ever!!!!

last night was easily the best breakfast show i have seen so far this year..

i am not happy to say that i missed mooboo\'s>gbfbits, but walked in as dig was playing.. i got the rest of mooboo\'s which was good enough for me. i miss hearing that song more often, but i guess it\'s better to be kept as a treat... so glad to hear golgi!! i had heard it being rehearsed in syracuse and was pissed that it didn\'t end up getting played. glad we got it last night! rufus>new beginning=not my cup of tea. the song has yet to grow on me.. merge>tunage was up there as well as a kick ass gladys encore.

all in all a great show. the guys sounded great/the lights were unbelieveable last night.

thank you postom for the ride up/thanks pcaspian for the ride down. i was in a car that was pulled over on the way to the show as well as pulled over in a different car on the way home. new hampshire cops ought to get a fucking hobby.

One for the ages, enough said.  I don\'t see how anyone could have possibly have been disappointed by anything last night, maybe the only disappointment would have to be the fact that it unfortunately had to end.  They were fuckin\' smokin\' from the first notes to the last.  Just when I thought that WTF couldn\'t possibly get any better at that point, it goes into Mooboo\'s?!?!  I must say that I agree with Todd because I remeber thinking at a few points during it that Mooboo\'s is possibly one of the best songs ever played.  I also was convinced that Honey Butter was gonna close it out but Golgi, seriously?!? I was so crital of it for some reason and shit did it ever shut me the fuck up by being perfect and the Divided Sky tease that could not have been pulled off any better as well as them adding their own personality to it was silly.  Rufus made me happy cuz i was sure I\'d see it at Bill\'s Bar, and New Beginning was not bad at all and I remember a few months ago wishing that they\'d cover Badge and then actually doing it was kinda surreal for lack of a better term.  I could\'ve taken or left Tunage the night before, but now I\'m a fan of it.  All I have to say is that they had so many grooves and moments where I think they absolutely played to the fullest of their abilities, no question.  But I think if they had to play every song with the intensity that they played Gladys, I don\'t know many shows they\'d be able to survive before they all exploded.  I also agree with Wolfman that it may have been the best one I\'ve seen, and I was outside during the break and while i was near him I heard him say that it was the best first set he\'d ever seen to at least two people and I had to break his balls about it probably cuz he was right, but anyway.  That is all from me, and I have a feeling a certain birthday girl must still be buzzing.  Keep it up muthafuckas!!!

The Stone Church is my favorite venue to see The Breakfast, and probably my favorite that I have ever been to.  There is a magic there that is undefineable.

Saturday was by far the best Breakfast show I have seen there and up there with one of the top shows I have ever seen.  In the past, Breakfast shows at the Church were pretty well attended, but during the show it seemed that a lot of people were lurking around the grounds, inside and outside.  However there was not one moment all Saturday night where I saw anyone doing anything but getting down with eyes fixated on the stage.  And the band showed their appreciation by throwing down a top notch show.

We will be back there as the last show in a 3 night 420 run.......

Start making plans now because.....
4/20 - The Mezzanote Syracuse, NY
4/21 - Keene State College Keene, NH
4/22 - The Stone Church NewMarket, NH

should be a run of dizzying perportions......

Keene.

Anyhow, incredible show. Not going to write a big review, it\'s already been done.

I can\'t believe they are going to play TWO nights in New Hampshire in April. Keene is only 40 minutes from me. Woo hoo, I feel spoiled.

Well I am about to listen to this show straight through. I did listen to the debuts and Tunage.

As for Golgi it is obvious from listening that it was a hit. However on disc it really pales. It is done well don\'t get me wrong but on disc the song suffers drastically w/o keys.

Page has some rather sweet runs and fills in the song that are totally missed in The Breakfast\'s cover of it.
After the initial excitement of hearing this I would have most likely went for a drink.

Badge on the other hand. AWESOME cover. Nailed that shit hard!!!! Adrian and Ron absolutely shine on this song!  Tim shreds it and this song had me dancing my ass off!

I have kinda come to the conclusion I probably won\'t be travelling crosscountry for Bfast trio shows unless it is really ez for me to do. However after this song and hearing I Feel Free covered, if the guys announce a show w/ a set of Cream covers or a Cream album I do believe I would book my flight the moment I heard.

So Tunage, Well to me it is another Honey Butter. Meh beginning and lyrical content ending  w/ truly insane jams that have the potential to go anywhere.
The false ending I could care less about, when they come back to end it, it is not all that spectacular to me. Could just be the newness and all, probably is.

Anyway these are just my opinions based on listening to the music and not actually being there in the midst of the raging energy that is the front row of a Breakfast show.

Without a doubt Ron and Adrian nail that shit.......
Tim was having a problem going into one of the jams with what note to hit.  Basically trying to learn lyrics and play the song in a different key than the original is tough work.  Usually I dont hear any misses, but since I have been listening more, i was able to catch one in this version......Still HOT HOT HOT though....
All three of them killed the second take of it in soundcheck though.......
A couple of more run throughs and it will be a killer killer cover for the ages.....
Honestly I think it got a better reception than Golgi......

just listened to the show.... awesome!! the energy level is crazy. I\'m a big fan of the monster that is tuneage. the honeybutter and golgi are fantastic. divided tease was perfect. It should really be badge > merge > tuneage...Thanks again chris

:chin: I could\'ve sworn I heard a "shake n bake" tease & jam, I just don\'t know where/when in the setlist it happened :?:

after the seriousness of the Merge, the sillyness of the \'shake and bake\' came right before the Tuneage and after relistening, listen to what Jason A says right before me.

Badge is exciting to hear.  The vocals could use some fine-tuning though.

so, what song is timmy hinting at about 7:52-8:00 into honeybutter? is it thumpasaurus??

which brings up a thought~ i truly believe that tB\'s setlist notations need to include not just *=teases and/or quotes, but HINTS. timmy hints at stuff like no one i\'ve ever heard. i don\'t know if its because hes playing and hears something that reminds him of something else and plays at it for a bit, or whether he\'s simply trying not to tease anything at all, but got himself close nonetheless. either way, he hints at other songs all the damn time!

Well I have rarely ..seen or heard tim go so agressively balls to the walls on every part of every song as he does for this entire show. What was up with him that night? Just feeling the force or ......????

What ever the reason, the result is very enjoyable, high energy, unique sounding versions of almost every song played. Animal and and ronnie dont miss a beat of course but Timmy really just single handidly threw it into ser face owning, over-drive ragefest mode right from first note and never let up.

Wish I coulda been there.

Just got through listening to this one and all I can do is say thanks to Tim, Ron and Adrian and everyone else involve with putting on this show and Chris for recording it and sharing. Def one of my favourite trio shows - Honeybutter and Rufus (sorry fellow Team Queebers - am not turning, but it made me reappraise the song) are definite highlights, but Golgi (apologies, leith, I loved it even without keys!) and Badge?? Nailed is not the word. End of Badge into Merge in particularly worthy of mention.

Can\'t wait for Bill\'s Bar to finish d/ling to hear the new Escher\'s parts. In the meantime, guess what I\'ll be listening to in the car on the way to work tomorrow...

This is only vaguely related, but has anybody else noticed the rash of Christian-based advertisements due to the word "Church" being on the main page?
