I wanted to dress up as Elton John and have my girlfriend go as Eminem, but she vetoed the idea.  We may end up as Fred Flintstone and Betty Rubble having an affair.

Post by: galenas on October 20, 2003, 03:04:31 pm
will tix also be $10 at the door???
Title: -- Offical Freakout Thread --
Post by: dogpatch on October 20, 2003, 08:19:56 pm
13 at the door....I always like to get tickets in advance, in case it does sell out. So I bought my Freakout tickets today from tickets.com But I payed freaking 17 each! It would have been cheaper to get them in the door! I thought advance was supposed to be cheaper, but those slinkers add service charges and handling fees so you pay up the ass. What\'s up with this. What\'s the point of getting them in advance.
Title: -- Offical Freakout Thread --
Post by: tiedyetoga on October 20, 2003, 11:27:59 pm
The Service charges have nothing to do with PB. Thats all tickets.com, I\'m sure that you can call the Webster and buy them there. The Freakout is going to be a packed house and to buy your tickets in advance is a good idea.
Title: -- Offical Freakout Thread --
Post by: dogpatch on October 21, 2003, 07:34:25 am
Yeah, I know the service charge has nothing to do with PB. I\'m sorry if I made it seem like it did, I was just ranting at tickets.com:-D I did call the Webster, and they said for tickets call tickets.com. I couldn\'t really have bought them at the Webster\'s box office seeing it is a three hour drive! But I\'m glad I got the tickets anyway. A Packed house eh! Good to hear; let\'s hope there\'s dancin\' room!:P

Smoke free sucks!

This is why NYC is lame now.
Title: -- Offical Freakout Thread --
Post by: galenas on October 21, 2003, 08:15:12 pm
NYC lame??? come on! just b/c non-smokers are now free to breathe unpolluted air and keep their lungs in a natural state?? i don\'t think so. NYC will always be the place to party, smoking or not! and now it\'s even better, b/c you can go out and not come home w/ a sore throat and hair that smells like an ash-tray for the next 3 days.

MMW!!!! Can\'t wait for that one. Anybody going to the show in Torrington?

And yes, smoke free is a relief. Has that fully taken effect in CT and if not when? I thought it took effect for official bars soon, but certain places, who are under the title of "coffeehouse or cafe or whatever" are still allowed to support cancer until a later date. Anybody know the deal?

You can go to Archie Moores and smoke if you want. I for one do not smoke and I hate coming home smelling like cigs.
Title: -- Offical Freakout Thread --

Yeah, I dig the no-smoking.
Title: -- Offical Freakout Thread --
Post by: Drew_Kingsley on October 22, 2003, 04:43:01 pm
Smoking never really bothered me, but I guess it can\'t be a bad thing (for us non-smokers)... unless somebody has a nicotine withdrawal fit and killed us all.  But what are the chances of that happening?  50%, tops!

I\'m not sure about Chili\'s in staven (i try not to eat with the locals).  But the one in Milford had no smoking.......but the bars in new haven are still smoking.  Last weekend, the playwright, botegas, and sci fi were all smoky.  I really can\'t wait.... I hate when my hair smells of cigarettes. Plus the smoke always makes my contacts get dry.    This is a fantastic idea, all you smokers, can kiss my tight ass.

I don\'t smoke cigarettes but if you had a problem with security before you can bet that "tight ass of yours" that you will now.

It just sucks. That is why NYC IS LAME. I used to be able to go to venues that were "smoker" friendly and now that is all gone. And not to mention the FUCKING SMELL. None of you dirty ass hippies know how to shower! The stench in the bars is AWFUL. I personally would gladly smell of cigs then have to smell the fucking BO that permiates throughout the "JAMBAND" clubs now.

You\'ll see what I am talking about soon enough

I heard the Webster is a giant echo chamber with shitty acoustics. Is this true? Thoughts? It can\'t be nearly as bad as the Patrick Gymnasium at UVM in Burlington...saw SCI there and it sounded so bad. Couldn\'t really hear half the instruments. Stilla Grate Time.....anyways!

Let\'s see...

It\'s general admission, but there are seats in the back.  There\'s a great space for taping (though it\'s not a great taping venue).  You\'ll know it when you see it.  Security isn\'t too bad, but they will bust you.  And, though you didn\'t ask, parking is surprisingly decent, just don\'t park too far away or you\'ll be in the hood.

i don\'t see why they would.  every time i\'ve gone there they run people out of the lot and make them go inside.  one time i got stuck listening to a despicable opening band.

but, don\'t take my word for it.  i\'m not always right.

i\'ve been told pb goes on right at 10:30, and that other cool stuff will be going on prior to that (in addition to the opening bands).  as far as i know, there\'s not much around there besides the ghetto...you\'re wise not to venture very far from the webster.

acoustic in second set included U.S. Blues and Needle and the Damage Done. im not too good with song names but i know that Buquebus was in the second set, and i dont think there was anything out of the ordinary played besides Tim humming that song that Homer sings when hes waiting in the car for Bart at the Spinal Tap show.

tim was saying during sound check how he kept hearing that song in his head whenever they shuffled from electric to acoustic all tour. they also played vera st. and people are strange, i don\'t know how much either of those have been played, but its not much if at all...

it was great seeing you too, john. i\'m glad my clown costume came out ok, but the sad thing is that i own (and frequently wear) all the articles of clothing that made up my outfit! how did you make out on poster sales? they were amazing - you\'re seriously very talented! i would have loved to buy the special gold-framed one, but i was a little low on the cizash, ya know? are you going to be at any upcoming shows? i\'ll definitely be at tobacco road and i\'ll almost definitely be at mexicali blues. i\'m also thinking about hittin up cambridge this thursday b/c i\'m seeing moe in boston on friday. not 100% tho.
