The Red Square is broseph approved. They are really interested in getting the band for NYE.

I woouldn\'t be completely opposed to the idea but I think CT is a better idea, gotta stay close to home for the home town faithful

I don\'t disagree with you Me! at all. The people who ran the show were all about the Breakfast like I have never seen. She basically backed Stephen into the corner and was like "you tell them to make it happen", "we want them for NYE", "you tell your people to let them know and lets make this happen", after about 5-minutes of this and the breakdown in HB, I went back inside. They dig the b\'fast and she mentioned something about getting ellis all the lights he wants/needs for NYE.

the show was intense.... #15 for me. Great great time. Apparently I was the only one who bought a ticket from red square\'s site and had them at will call. The guy there said, "Are you William?" I was like, "Uhhh, yeah, how\'d you know?" etc. etc. I was shocked to say the least. There was only 30-40 people there I\'d say but they rocked their asses off and I had a blast. Couldn\'t have been happier to hear Memory of a Free Festival, that\'s one I\'ve wanted to hear for a while. Always happy to hear Surreal, Honeybutter, Psygn, Intention, Beef, Rufus etc. Thanks boys for a great time. Hooray day off after a Breakfast show!

ya, your probably right about the turnout, just seemed more because of the set-up. of course, the 2nd set seemed to be much lighter than the 1st.

It\'s hard ro argue with that

but if there were only a handful of people there, is that what NYE would be like too?

tapers checking in here: yup, only about 50 paid I would bet.  the tape is OKay, this club is not the greatest for acoustics.  Kindms and bigmamagrape were there with me and he should have the show up after they get home from wormtown.  (For those who care: AKG c414\'s omni spaced 17 cm hung from ceiling about 8 feet in front of stage -> V3@16/48 -> I river/D8.)  Sounds a bit boomy on first listen.

edit to add: dam, I almost forgot to say what a great performance!  These songs got really extended, and awesome 2nd set rapport with the audience.  Adrian\'s set up in front with the band liek a jazz trio is really entertaining to be able to actually SEE him play instead of being way in the back.

I live in Albany area and I have a few opinions about Red Square in general and bkfst NYE in particular:
Red squre is nice, the owners and bookers are solid folks.  I think the capacity can\'t be more than 400, prolly more like 350.  For a THU night show that wasn\'t locally advertised even at the food co op 1 mile up the street I am not surprised by the turnout.  HOwever, with SUNY Albany over 21\'s living off campus within easy reach of Red Square more CAN be done.
The next time they are here I will flyer on LArk street and at the co op, I can\'t do more than that, but I think that will increase attendance here.  This town has several colleges in it, a student population of at least 50,000 if you count RPI in Troy, SUNy, College of St, Rose, Albany School off Pharmacy, Union college,Skidmore ( in Saratoga, but still close)

About NYE, I think the place is too small, that is the only "downside" I can see other than not being in CT, which seems to make the most sense, family and more hardcores fans being local to CT.

1 - Inverted

Happy Birthday sung to Animal by the crowd at Encore Break.

When Adrian showed me the two sets he wrote for last night, well first I had to scoop my jaw off the floor.  One of the best written setlists in some time.  The first set looked like it was going to rule the night, however, this was not the case.  Though the inverted Psygn to open the night was cool and a fresh idea, and the inverted Attraction was sick as ballz, the return of Hard Luck, the jam from HLH > Heather, Scheme, and Memory (Reprise) owned the night.

The crowd was into the show all night and Red Square is a pretty cool venue.  They are just open under new ownership and hopefully we can get there again.

I was a bit disappointed in the turnout and was having a conversation with Bigmamablueberry about this.  What does this band have to do to get people to their shows?  This is a mystery.  I was thinking about this on the ride home and came up with this.....What do people go to see live rock music shows for?  Sex, Drugs, and Rock and Roll.   Obviously just having one of the three is not enough, because the boys bring the balls to the wall Rock and Roll each and every night.  So when you think to yourself, "what can I do to help get people to Breakfast shows?", lets start thinking sex and drugs please ;)

Great to see all those that made it out to the show.....Josh (aka bdfreetuna) great to see you again and hope to rage out again soon......Gabe....I cant believe that your sister remembered me from the boat cruise......she (and her friend) = cool ass friggin folk....missed you though......

She and I spoke about this on the drive home after the show.  We came up with the same three reasons why folks go to shows :stoned: , and added to see old friends and to meet new ones to the list, making 4 reasons.
One thing I can think of that IS unique, but would require some effort by some one affilliated with the band is this:  making sure that someone from the local music press gets invited and IF they come writes a review.  For instance, the Albany paper is Metroland, and I am wondering if it was covered.  In essence, this is one of the things a P.R. person would do for artists, which of course, they can\'t afford.  So I wonder how this could be accomplished by the likes of us fans?  e mail the papers ahead of time????  I am just spouting here and have zero time to do this.  Does anyone have any other [ good, not silly:bounce2: ] ideas????

Has anyone ever explored the possibilties of contacting student services at any colleges? Get names and numbers of student leaders. College heads are always looking for something to do! And Thursday nights are ussually huge. BUT...they need to know about it!!! These are resources that were being worked on years ago and now.....:hscratch:

Good, good times :)

I was tired as hell for this show but I made it front-row standing to the end, so it must have been good ;)

Psygn inverted = the way to go!!
Merge was insanity
Beef Barley was fun as hell
ummm.... MEMORY + REPRISE!!!!!! that made me happy to say the least

Stephen I\'m with you on the sex+drugs bro... somebody\'s gotta put little pieces of paper inside that mountain of free DVDs.. I betcha a few more people would be sticking around for the second set hehehe

oh yeah, and sex too, definitely

... Turnout was pretty damn small but it\'s good to see a lot of familiar faces having a blast. Oh yeah, if that mysterious gap between the stage and the crowd lasted for any longer than the first song I was about to start doing weird things in that space. Probably a good thing people loosened up quick ;)

I am always astonished about those mysteriously gap between the band and its fans. but it happens all the time and its definitely not just The Breakfast. As far as NYE being at Red Square, I am not too sure especially if you can\'t get a HUGE turnout, which is what the band wants and needs, but since its alot closer to me that CT, I vote YES!

I love sharing anything I bring (goodies) with fellow infoers or even the band. I do agree about the sex part...there needs to be more sex going on at these shows...(or at least strippers dancing next to Tim, Ron, and Adrian....or would this dissract them from producing amazing music? Freespirit knows Im just joking...but that fart incident happened to me the other day...some kid farted so bad I tought I was going to hurl...I opened all the windows..but I think this one girl I was helping at the time (when I first smelled it; thought I ripped it. I think I will post an MP3 version of this show. Ya I know a taper posting MP3\'s but here is why.

The setup:

We clamped to the ceiling about 4 feet in front of the band at Red Square. We ran Omni\'s spaced only about 17cm apart. The recording is pretty good. It is a lilttle bass heavy but an enjoyable listen IMHO. I played parts of it for Tim last Thursday after the TTour show. He said he thought it sounded good.

I was critically listening to the show and trying to even out a first set gain change when I noticed what can only be described as a skip. I was running akg414xls/st > Grace Design V3 (ya for new toys) > optical > iriver h120, we also ran COAX > D8. Kyle has the DATs and I think they are fine (ie. no skips) but I am not sure when I will be able to get the DATs from him, Maybe this weekend. So what I think is a good idea nd feel free to say otherwise. I will post a streamable version of this show so u all can listen to it on your computers and a zip file containing the MP3\'s when I get the DATs I will seed the flac files.

The \'skip\' seems to happen every ten minutes so I think it was the new firmware I loaded on to the iriver. I have since switched back to the older build I wasn\'t having any problem with.

Sorry.

I had to work late last night. I will have it done by this evening I promise. I will most likely have the DATs sometime this weekend me thinks as well.

I need to do a Burning Spear set for a friend as well so that will be posted if you have any interest in that as well

Well I could have put them in a .zip file but I would have had to upload the the show x2 if i wanted it to be availabel for streaming as well.

It took me a lot longer to get it tracked and etc last night. I didnt finish until like 11ish or so. But just to reiterate.

These mp3\'s are just to tied people over until I get a better quality copy of the show. The DATs shouldn\'t have the "skipping" that happens on the this source. When that happens i will bit torrent the flac files and / or upolad it to the archive

please do, having as many shows on the archive as possible is important. Plus its my preferred way to grab shows :)

I absolutely was not complaining. (well maybe a little :D) I was just stating how spoiled we are with Archive and, until now, kinda took it for granted. I realize and fully appreciate all the time and energy put into these projects!! And I also know it was a quicky fix for those of us not fortunate enough to have been there. So....thanks again!!!

I knew you weren\'t complaining.

I got so stuck tracking it out last night. You would think with all the shows I have seen and taped I could tarck a breakfast set a little faster than last night. I was starting to get pissed at myself.

Beef Barley > Attraction To Shade Ditty* > Beef Barley

Hard Luck Harry > Heather > Surreal Radio

Those two runs gave me a hard time figuring where to make the 2nd split

The BB>ATSD>BB through me for a loop trying to keep a setlist because of the inverted way it was played.

The HLH>Heather was so smooth, I thought it was a nice new jam out of HLH.

ditto that, I just started streaming it online... the levels of all 3 instruments came out very good, clear, good bass/trebel/whatever

in other words, nice job :)

.. edit) well now I downloaded it... sweet, I haven\'t noticed the skip yet...

MEMORY of a FREE FESTIVAL!!!!! yeeeeeah!

Really? I guess you must have been tired because ATSD starts later than you have it tracked and the 2nd split back into BB was nigh perfect.

The transition into Surreal could have been split a sec. or 2 earlier but other than that sweetness!!

I just posted these thoughts because I think it will be easier to track Breakfast shows now due to the clarity between instruments and the fact that Tim pretty much has a tell for the next song 98% of the time if you\'re listening.
