The show was a lot of fun. Coda is a very nice space and the sound seemed really good where I was. Gencs told me at intermission that he wrote most, if not all, of set 1. I thanked him for Intension and told him that Doughboy was a good vibe to send everyone to break with. The crowd totaled around 50 people or so. Apparently some people who will remain unnamed could not tear themselves away from Pearl Jam. The drum solo featured a brief glow-noodle war. A glow-noodle is a glow-ring that is not connected together at the ends. Only one noodle in attendance but it had its moment to shine. There was no one running lights for the first set and the beginning of the second. The lights that were on were very dim. Once the lights kicked in the show took on a new feel and gave the crowd (and maybe the band) a second wind.
Intension was everything I hoped it would be. Psygn keeps moving further up my favorites list. Late and Great and Good Things are cigarette-break songs right now. I feel that L & G could become epic.

...only stayed for 1st set which had a goddamn phenominal see the light>puppetry in it, i can for the most part take or leave good things, the drum solo and what my girlfriend calls "that dough song" were really good, however i don\'t think a single "glow-noodle" hitting jordan in the head can be called a brief war...wish i hadn\'t driven like like 6 hours in total yesterday or i may have actually been able to survive the dirive home, i got to my house at like 4:30 and barely made it up the stairs...didn\'t see any mics around, but hope to hear the stl>puppetry again...overall, good time at a cool little place that i hope they play again sometime...

as the defense lawyer for said people with no names, i would just like to bring to the attention of the jury that the band, who has a CT-heavy fanbase, happened to play a show \'local\' to CT, on an evening where one of the biggest rock bands in the country played CT for the first time in 8 years. that\'s all.

as mike pointed out last night - if we timed it a little better, we probably could have done both shows, without missing too much of b\'fast set 1.. who knew?

Can\'t knock the band, per usual.  The tapes (if there are any) will be great and will make the show seem better than it was.  STL > Puppetry went pretty deep, as did Intension.  The Late and Great > Overexposure was colossal and the top highlight again.  Man, they\'ve been killing this one since play 1.  Even the debut at Stone Church a few months ago was epic.  It seems they bypassed the normal 10-play grace period and had this where they wanted right out of the gate.  Of course, it is still getting better and more varied each play as all their originals do drastically for the first 10-20 plays.  The only thing I\'m uncomfortable with right now is that all 4 times I have seen this tune, half the crowd leaves for a bar/bathroom break during The Late and Great and misses the transition to Overexposure and it takes them a while to get back into it.  I\'d like to see Overexposure on its own a few times or prefaced with some other songs.  I don\'t see why it has to be tied to The Late and Great for its entire existence.  Anyways, there were only about 50-60 people there for second set, but to everyone\'s credit the action was all down in front and fairly raging at times.  The place may have been 75% empty, but everyone there was getting their money\'s worth from the band.

Speaking of the venue...
:sigh:
The Wetlands closed.  Tobacco Road closed.  What\'s a mid-level jamband to do?  These are the scraps we\'re left to deal with.  If this place thinks they\'re ever drawing rock band crowds, they\'ve got major concept issues.  This is a nightclub.  It is not a rock venue.  It is designed for 18+ dance nights, 80\'s nights, and drag-queen talent shows.  When the bouncer moved the velvet rope out of the way as we entered, I knew we were in trouble.  The posh crushed red velvet surroundings, red mood lighting, and chandeliers were enough to make me feel bad about wearing jeans and a t-shirt.  I doubt any of us would get in dressed as we were on any other night of the week.  Holy shit were we out of place.  Drinks were $6.50 bottles of beer, of which there were six to choose from and no draft, or you could get a mixed drink starting at $7.50.  In other words, they totally discourage beer sales in favor of expensive martinis and such, which ain\'t exactly rock-crowd-friendly.  They have four measly par-cans to light a stage that could easily be surrounded by 24-48 lights and they have no place for a light tech to stand.  If you want to convince me that you\'re serious about having shows, at least light your frikin stage.  Some beefy security guy felt the need to pace back and forth across the length of the stage through the first two rows of people for the entire night.  If you tried to watch the show from the first two rows, this guy was clipping you and blocking your vision every 60 seconds.  This club just doesn\'t get it.  Next!

i will vehemently deny those allogations.  you will never see me in possesion any glowy object, let alone flinging one at jordan.

this was an interesting show.  it made sense that they busted out most of the new tunes considering they\'re starting to record the new album today.  good things i\'m still on the fence about but this version really made me look foward to the album version.  the arrangement was really spot on, different than the more raw/straight foward versions i\'ve seen them play.  lots of pretty ladies at this show which was a nice change from the usual sausage fest we\'ve got goin on.  highlights:  definitly overexposure and a puppetry.

i couldn\'t expect too much as the last show i was at was the middle east, which was one of the best shows i\'ve ever been to.  it was definitly fun nonetheless.

I thought it was a decent venue, easy to get to, i found a parking spot a block away and eveyone else seem to be the same. security didn\'t bother me at all in and out walks around the block no problems. Jim the only reason the guy was pacing back and forth was because people where puff\'n down in the front row and he couldn\'t figure out who it was all night.

highlights for me STL and the Psygn (man i love this tune) to open the second set. i had a great night all around. thanks to the Shady Acres crew hope you guys got home safe.....

i thought the show rocked, as usual. but what the fuck is wrong w/ nyc? i don\'t get why ppl don\'t come out to bfast shows. maybe it was a number of factors: mother\'s day, pearl jam, disco biscuits in albany. i know that personally my friends used all three excuses. (the mom\'s day excuse, imo, is lame unless you\'re physically out of town, which happend to two of my ffriends.) nonetheless, the bfast rocked SO HARD! really great time.

had a lot of fun on sat

I thought the opening jam was fuckin great, perhaps even my highlight for the night, I always love a good things (GREAT Thing) L&TG>over, I agree with whoever comented about the crowed thining during this tune, it seems just cause it gets mellow, these guys can\'t win they\'re balls to the wall rock and they\'re to heavy, mellow and everyone leaves what can these guys do?
anyway though, I though L&TG actually was  a tiny bit more jammed out than usual, which was cool, I think this tune could actually be jammed out rather nicely, and over exposure was HOT per usual.  and I love me some honeybutta!!

Thanks to bezerker for the call!

The opening jam was great! It definitely had some "Shakedown" feel to it and sounded like there was a quick tease before finishing out and heading into Inner Glimpse which got the crowd going and set the mood for the evening. Future Peek continues to become a much better song everytime they play it. Attraction is always nice to hear. The STL > Puppetry was extremely well played and the Puppetry jam is definitely worth listening to again. (I do believe I saw mics) I am not a huge fan of Good Things but it was nice to hear, had been a long time. It sounded really good and was great when they jammed in Intension which is when I began that the first set was over, followed by a nice unexpected Drum Solo before a routine Doughboy closed the set, which I thought was the show. There was word going around that if there wasn\'t 150 people paid that the band would only do 1 set. Luckily there was 2.

Per usual, I wouldn\'t be surprised if the 1st set was longer then the 2nd. However, this 2nd set was everything a 2nd set should be. Psygn was awesome and though I only heard the jam from outside, the word was "top-shelf". Tricky Ways was standard. The Late and The Great was the best I have heard, gave me new hope for the song. It was jammed out fantasically before heading into an Overexposure that was over the top. The highlight of the 2nd set if not the entire show. The Overexposure was played like it was suppose to be played. Hopefully a recording surfaces and you can all hear this. Then came a nice Superfly to end the show with a Honey Butter shout out in the Superfly part.

Honey Butter is well, Honey Butter.

had a lot of fun at the show. sucks there wasn\'t a great turnout. the coda is a nice venue, but security is kinda weird. i enjoyed the show for the most part, wasn\'t the best breakfast show i\'ve seen. i\'m kind of relieved that there are other people out there who aren\'t huge fans of good things-i\'m not either. as much as i enjoy most of the new songs, i like hearing the old as well. see the light>puppetry was awesome. i loved hearing the original version of stl rather than the inverted. loved superfly and honeybutter at the end of the show. big thanks to walsh for driving into the city (if you call that driving ;)) and thanks for not leaving me there. shady acres went well-then again i fell asleep on the way back in a very uncomfortable position and when we got to the hotel i was in sleep mode/passed out.

I didn\'t read all the comments about the show but if anyone there didn\'t drink then they were in for a shock when they, like me, ordered 2 goddamn cokes and the bartender goes, "ok, 2 cokes that\'s $10," a fuckin\' 16 oz., 3/4 ice filled, plastic cup of coke cost $5, I didn\'t dare get an actual drink or beer out of fear that I wouldn\'t have enough on me to cover it.  Also, before we went in the guy at the velvet ropes told a kid if he touched the ropes again, he was gone, though he wasn\'t staying, and he only touched the ropes twice, I don\'t think it was an offense serious enough to get one "bounced."  buttholes.

The "No recording" was pretty much my fault.

I ddin\'t have my recording EQ so peck was kind enough to offer to have the band bring his rig etc for me to run. We had made all the arrangements prior to the show so it would get recorded. Unfortunately the Gods seemed hell beant on making sure I didn\'t get to go. Saturday My car decided it didn\'t want to behave. So I tried to get someone to cover the show but in the last minute it didnt happen.

so $780.00 later my car is fixed. My wallet is still recovering.

Sorry folks. I wanted to be there.

I will be at Wu-Li and Strangecreek so we have those covered.

Yup, the no-recording gods only half shit on me. Had my video camera set up by the soundboard. Thought I hit play at the beginning of set 1. Went to check on it/ change tapes 50 minutes later and saw it was on standby. I have a lot of Doughboy, all of set 2 and the first minute of Honey Butter. Sound is very good for a video camera. I recorded in 16-bit digital mode. Thank you to whomever, probably Dobson, that started the camera at the beginning of set 2. Glad it got recorded, because I wasn\'t there for it!!!

The crowd was light, but with Pearl Jam rocking the Meadows (I still am wondering how the show was.  Though I am sure it was a great time) and DSO a couple of blocks away, it was pretty obvious that we were going to be light attendancewise.......How can you knock anyone for going to see PJ?  When was the last time they were in CT?  I dont knock the people who went to the show, but I do have a small hatred growing for Eddie Bedder.......

Since Dobson was sick and got to the venue later than expected, I think the sound was pretty good since it was me and the Coda\'s sound guy working the setup (with a couple of calls to Dobson w/ questions).  And there were no real technical glitches that I was aware of........

The highlights for me was the Future Peek (fucking JAMMED like no version to date)..... Puppetry was ser per usual and of course the Late/Over was the face owner of the night........Honey Butter as an encore was cool to see....and for those who badmouth Good Things.....If you dont feel anything while listening to Tim sing it and the band play it....You Have NO Soul!

Lets try to get some heads to Mill Street......

Last person I expected to see @ Coda was TerryOB....yet he was there with his birthday entourage.....

eventhough i\'ve bashed good things on this board before, i really have to admit that the song was great in nyc. i always enjoy when tim plays a well-crafted solo. the song should sound great on an album. but i do have to say that it\'s definitely a buzz kill for the crowd....

especially with the energy they bring on all the other tunes. i stick around during it but it definitely slows down the pace

I can\'t argue with the fact that it brings the set down, but sometimes you need breather tunes or everyone will be leaving the show 45 min early and useless, I\'ve seen it happen back in the day when breathere tunes were alittle more rare...

i think a breather is good when well placed.  good things was placed well in sat\'s set.
