Trust me that is well worth it. 3000 acres, 3 spring filled lakes, you can rent boats, bring your own boat, they got showers, floating log cabins, regular log cabins, hiking trails, rock climbing, volleyball, and even better a beautiful scenery.....

its the breakfast then dj williams projekt and then special performance by moonshine still and then the good old boys Barefoot Manner...pretty hot music back to back...

we were already looking at this, but the addition of the breakfast sealed it. as of right now, we have a group of 16 going - folks from GA, NC, SC, VA, MD & NJ so far. that should increase as we get nearer the actual date. what time are they playing? and they\'re on friday, right? i gotta schedule some time off to make sure i\'m there on time, but that\'s the worst part of the worst month for me, work-wise, so i need to plan now. also, any info on the floating log cabins? that may be worth a rental!!!

too bad the bridge won\'t be there, but by god, y\'all couldn\'t\'ve come up with a better replacement!!!! thanks!

any .infoers who want to come down, let me or jill know. we\'ve already got some out of towners that\'ll probably be meeting at our place (if not staying with us thursday night) so we can make room for others, if ned be!

yeah about the floating log cabins, you have to reserve them in advance and they could possibly be booked, so go online and type cove campground in gore,va and there should be a website and all the info is there about the cabins. Im telling you this place is unbelievable, you wont want to leave when you see it.

thanks for the info and see ya there!

This sounds like a sick festival - and Barefoot Manner is probably my 2nd favorite band behind the Breakfast right now.  So the Breakfast plays at 9:00 pm? that would be a good timeslot.  So do they play before or after moonshine still?  No offense to moonshine but it would be a joke if they had to play after the Breakfast.  Otherwise it looks like an awesome festival and I might just check it out!

barefoot manner is a perennial favorite down south. they\'ve been around for a while and have a pretty hardcore following in nc, sc, va, etc. but they don\'t seem to tour a whole lot. they are always a lot of fun, however. acoustic/electric mix of down hom styles of music. i\'ve warned my metal loving friend from nj that, other than the breakfast, this weekend may be pretty mellow for his tastes. he promised to wear his maiden t-shirts to keep the energy level up.

i\'d absolutely LOVE a Question Mark with Barefoot Manner. i think its a tune best suited to both bands!!

does anyone else have a ringing in their ears??? sort of an insistant voice calling to me. telling me to do something.... something about floating.....

Barefoot Manner is basically a jamgrass/ bluegrass band.  Super high energy, super tight.  Unbelievable dueling mandolin/ banjo, playing a million miles an hour while composing sick melodies.  Best bluegrass band I\'ve ever seen, even better than Railroad Earth, Leftover Salmon, Bela Fleck, better than any of that shit.  Hopefully the Breakfast gets to play a solid two hours or so.  I\'d hate to drive all the way up there and see them play 45 minutes.  But it may be worth it just for Barefoot.

really though anyone interested in throwing down for a cabin get a good sized group together and it\'ll cost us next to nothing, we\'re fam we can cram a lot of people in one cabin, any know what the prices are for cabin and floating cabins?
Title: 1st Annual Camp Barefoot
Post by: jking on March 21, 2006, 01:38:59 pm
they only have \'05 prices up, but the cabins are 70 or 75 for up to four people ($12 extra per person above four). it looks like they only have one floating cabin, so stay away! but i\'ve got messages in to them to find out more details about number of cabins/floating cabins, proximity to the stage area, prices and whatever else we might need info on. they\'re just not open during the week at this time of year. but i definitely think that a big ol\' group should come on down!

also, origen, looks like the breakfast has the 9-10pm friday slot, so i doubt they\'ll get much more than that, unless they get some late night jamming time.

9-10:00 pm on Friday is a good time slot for the Breakfast.  At least people will be out of their tents by then.  And that Thursday lineup looks good too, with spam all stars and u melt.  I\'ve seen Spam All Stars a bunch of times in Atlanta and they\'re pretty awesome.

Overall it is a great idea for the Breakfast to play festivals in the south, because they\'ve had so little exposure down here.  They seriously need to try to hook up Smilefest in North Carolina and Harvest Fest in Georgia.  That would instantly double the size of their east-coast territory.

Title: 1st Annual Camp Barefoot
Post by: jking on March 23, 2006, 05:07:00 pm
the vip tix include *free* camping on thursday night and an extra night of music. maybe backstage access, but i\'m not sure about that yet. i have a contact number for someone in NC for tix info, so i\'ll ask him when i call.

a floating cabin is a cabin on its own private, floating platform (or wrap around porch, depending ow you look at it). its a primitive camping cabin with electricity but no water/mattresses/indoor plumbing - but it does have its own outhouse, fire ring and boat!! there are shelters (14x14 enclosed rooms with nothing else) and some other primitive cabins that are lakeside, as opposed to laketop.

VIP tix just bought... I suggest u get yours soon, since there\'s only 100.  I\'m still debating getting a cabin or a big-ass campsite for the whole crew... or, perhaps, renting that "party bus" from ebay?
Title: heck ya
Post by: barefootin on April 27, 2006, 11:31:19 am
they do welcome rv\'s, so bring the party bus!!!And for reserving campsites, you can\'t do that you just have to get there early and pop a tent or hold fort. But you can reserve cabins, which the floating log cabin is booked, and one other, I think there is one more which is a little ways from the festival grounds. But there is only 30 VIP passes left...so get them soon!!!!
Also the thursday is a soundcheck night w/ the spam allstars and umelt with others..You can only get into soundcheck is if you have a 3 day ticket or VIP pass, so get them soon as they will run out soon. Also reminder there is only 800 tix available. This is a upclose and personal music gathering, they did this to make it very friendly and upclose like its family. You can\'t get anything better for a music gathering...see you there!!!!

can\'t wait! we actually got some campsites for folks who didn\'t care about the music, but most of us will be in the music area (at least until we finally crash at the floating cabin). and after meeting with/talking to the folks who own the campsite, i think this is gonna be a truly awesome time!!

Your right...the land alone is so beautiful that you will forget that your still in virginia. And then to top it all off they add music, what 16 bands one main stage where you dont have to worry about seeing what band at what stage. But anyways this land will suck you in and when its time to leave you will be sad and want to stay...the lakes..showers, hiking, climbing, paddle boats, canoos, volleyball courts, campfires, spring filled lakes with diving pads in the middle of the lakes, Im telling you B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L !!!!!! Enough said..

I\'m definitely in - I can finally meet you guys when the Breakfast goes on.  Or we can create our own Breakfast tent city.

Anyway it\'s going to be sick.  And if you haven\'t heard Barefoot Manner you won\'t be disappointed - they are my 2nd fav. band behind the Breakfast and they are the fastest, tightest, most high energy bluegrass band I\'ve seen.  Also Cosmic Charley is the best Dead cover band around, better that DSO in my opinion.  If you can handle Dead cover you\'re gonna get plenty of it.

yeah Hal Month is now the keyboardist for cosmic charley.  Also Ancient Harmony and Cosmic Charley are doing alternating sets at Charleston SC this weekend I believe both Friday and Sat.  That will be the best non Breakfast show I can think of.  Ancient Harmony may be getting ready for a full blown tour!  Also in Cosmic Charley is bassist Dave Demizio, from the famous Athens GA band Fuzzy Sprouts (get the CD Liquid Light).  I\'m telling you CC is better than DSO - all jamband veterans doing super high energy Dead Cover.  Anyway this festival is going to be insane - if the Northeast crew hasn\'t heard of the other bands at this festival - trust me - they are all sick.

can\'t wait only 2 months away. I know the nugroove fest is the same weekend but Im telling you the land this Camp Barefoot is located on is so nice, you will not be disappointed. I just went there for the first time last weekend to help with the production crew do some stuff and I was so amazed with  the land and set up it is going to be so awesome. Dont forget to bring your fishing pole or even bring horse shoes. They will also have horse shoe pits set up around so possible horse shoe contest with different bands possibly, in the making actually. Anyways We also got Spam Allstars and Moonshine Still which will be coming off Bonnaroo so it will be a unbelievable weekend. Remember get your tickets...See you there...Also I heard in the talk that Barefoot Manner are coming up with a bunch of special performances which means special guest for their 600th show...

The hot showers are clean, the spring filled lakes are clear with beautiful mountians in the distance, and even better the hiking trails are unbelievable, also dont forget to bring a bike if you got one for the bike trails...Hopefully sometime during the day I will be able to fit in my schedule to listen to some of the 21 bands playing...I heard also the free champagne to everybody on friday night for barefoot manner 600th show....Spread the work there is only 1000 tickets and they are going at a steady pace..Dont want anybody to be left out...

Title: barefoot all the way
Post by: barefootin on June 09, 2006, 09:05:45 pm
Nugroove looks good but the prices are like $50 more than Camp Barefoot tickets plus the vibes are not the same. This campground Camp Barefoot is located at and the amount of poeple Camp barefoot is going to have (1000 people) its going to be so chill, and drinking champagne with everybody will top it off. And I personally think the lineup is alittle better than nugroove anyways, Spam Allstars and Moonshine Still will be coming off Bonarroo plus The Breakfast and Barefoot Manner suprise will be the moment of the weekend. And I personally think Cosmic Charlie is better than Dark star but they are just not paid by a huge reocrd label so thats why you dont know much about them but down south they are really big. AlsoThe nugroove productions people could careless about the fans they just want to get huge and take your money....I am telling you once you see the cove campground you will be wanting to go back to camp barefoot every year.....

inertia1215
did you purchase tix for Camp Barefoot or Nugroove. either one have a good time. if it is camp barefoot then cant wait to celebrate such a great weekend with you...see you there

"From heybro Productions, I would like to say thank you to everybody who is part of Camp Barefoot festivities and planning. But here is some info that might help you answer some questions.

1.Yes, you are aloud to bring your dog, just keep it on a leash is all we are asking, if your dog creates problems we will make the owner and dog leave the festival grounds.
2. The roads are cleaned up and are ready to be traveled on, so that means using gas scooters or bicycles to get around campground is not problem, you just can\'t use 4 wheelers for insurance liabilities.
3. You do not have to reserve any camping. We have camp 6 and camp 5 reserved for the festival and Camp 5 will be family camping plus alittle more laid back camping..But if you want to be away from either of these 2 campsites you can contact the cove campground and still reserve a camping spot somewhere else on the campground, but please dont worry this campground is 3000 acres and is plenty of camping sections, so in a way you wont have a problem that weekend if you decide to wait to camp somewhere else on the campground..
4. All camping is car camping but we will have a section to park your car if you feel like hiking into the woods and camp or to participate in a tent city style camping...
5. If you buy a VIP pass which I think they are almost all gone maybe a few you get thursday camping for free so you will only have to pay for friday and saturday camping...
6. 3 day tickets are still available but they are almost sold out, we probably have maybe 30 to 40 3 day tickets left available...
7. We have 2 day tickets($25 per ticket plus camping charge upon arrival per person) still available also, and if we dont sell them out by the day of the event then you can pay at the front gate but they will be $40 a piece plus camping charge upon arrival per person
8. We will have plenty of food vendors and art vendors but are not allowed to sell beer per county regulations..They are going to let us next season but could not get the permits in time this season to be legit, so to obey regulations and laws we advise you to BYOB and if you run out there is a brand new walmart about 15 miles away from the campground, you actually have to pass it to come into the campground, so your better off stopping and stocking up. We just dont want to be like nugroove or floyd fest and try charging $8 per beer, that is just not right.
9. And last but not lease the campground will have ice for sale if you run out plus we will be going around selling ice also, please keep water in your body due to being dehyraded in july.
10. Oh and yes the showers are hot showers, they work great !!!!
11. more info or to buy tickets go to http://www.heybroproductions.com

thanks again and look forward to celebrating such a great weekend, not only celebrating a early Jerry Garcia birthday but it will be my birthday as well, so we will be passing out champagne to first come first serve, I think we got about 50 bottles and tons of plastic champagne glasses...So come celebrate.."

I\'m almost definitely going to this fest.  I\'ll see Barefoot Manner in Boone on July 1st so hopefully I can buy the ticket from them at the Boone Saloon.  Also where is Gore, VA?  is it up towards DC or is it closer to NC?  I can\'t find it on a map.

gore is just west of winchester, va, so up near dc-ish. from winchester, its about 10 miles west on Route 50. and i\'m pretty sure "gore" is just a collection of a few scattered houses, one gas station (with old school dial pumps), this campground, the adjacent boy scout camp and a quarry. so i\'m not too surprised you had trouble finding it!

oh, and i\'ve got the last couple AH shows. if you want, i can bring extras along for ya.

Yeah, the Nugroove guys are so sketchy that they have to go on multiple message boards and talk a whole bunch of crap about people they don’t even know. I saw this same posting on the U-melt boards. It’s rude and uncalled for. Instead of talking you’re your competition, try putting on a good show. And maybe your ticket sales will do the talking for you.

Title: what are you talking about
Post by: barefootin on June 22, 2006, 10:10:04 am
I am just a person helping volunteer at camp barefoot and actually went to nugroove last year and their personal was rude and mean and they dont even get along or support one of the best fest ever gathering of the vibes. That is why i said it. And it just seems funny how camp barefoot has had their band lineup up posted for about 4 months now and then nugroove goes and gets some and most of the same bands, which seems like they are doing it on purpose to take people away from camp barefoot. I mean come on..I wish nugroove best of luck, but from what I hear camp barefoot ticket sales are going very well, better than they expected from what I hear. Also camp barefoot looks like more of a grassroots fest then a digital drug dropping fest. Thats all I am saying..but like I said I wish the best if luck for nugroove, I just like grassroots bands and vibes better than just plain on drum and bass all weekend long. Now talk about headache...

Bro, Nugroove has no problem with you guys promoting your show. It looks like a good lineup (being in the same business, we have like-think about good bands, so we book the same guys). You guys are in your first year and we wish you the same luck as us, or anyone in the same game. However, you give your self too much credit: I guarantee you no one ‘copied’ you’re lineup. The only reason why I even bothered to address you is because you’re going all over the proverbial town (i.e. internet) talking a lot of trash about the show. Rest assured, we will not engage in that kind of behavior, but you can’t expect to have cart blanch to say unfounded things like ‘we don’t support vibes.’ It’s a big market, and there’s room for both of us. We appreciate you coming last year, and you can have and express your opinion of the program, even if it isn’t shared by very many who attended the same show (as reviewed by several reputable institutions: see Jambands.com, 4twk, etc). But your attempt to drum up publicity for your show by bashing others is not appreciated, and I’m calling you on it.

oh, and i\'ve got the last couple AH shows. if you want, i can bring extras along for ya.

That sounds like a good location - up in the mountains, not too hot, plenty of hiking, national forests, stuff like that.  I could make a whole vacation out of it.  (and I\'d love to hear those AH shows - If they would play closer to ATL I would go see them).

And as for this Nugroove vs. Camp Barefoot debate, I think it\'s a close call but Camp Barefoot will be better because they have a young, high energy, modern band (Barefoot Manner) headlining both nights while Nugroove has the old and overrated DSO both nights.  Granted, Camp Barefoot has Cosmic Charlie, which is also a Dead cover band, but they will be playing a 2 set show Friday night only, between the Breakfast and BFM.  This is the perfect amount of Dead cover and the perfect time slot.  Let us Dead heads get our fill and then let an up and coming band which is more deserving have the headlining slot.

Nugroove has Particle, Raq, and Brothers Past, and most importantly the Breakfast which are all great bands, but they are taking a back seat to DSO.  If you want us to come to Nugroove, let the Breakfast and Raq headline both nights, and let DSO play a fat set somewhere around 8:00- 10:00 one night.  Nugroove looks awesome and I would love to check it out - and I definitely will next year if the Breakfast could get the headlining slot they deserve.
Title: I wish you weren\'t right
Post by: nr1217 on June 23, 2006, 04:52:00 pm
DSO does kindof muck up a perfectly good live tronica festival, but they are slated to end at 11p both nights. The schedule hasn\'t been leaked yet, but everyone seems to know BP and conspirator get late night sets. Pnuma and umelt get the until dawn sets. But I\'ve said too much. Honestly, it will probably a lot of fun down south. Rock on, Barefoot!

I don\'t know how long they\'re playing at nugroove but nr1217 says they\'re not doing late night or headlining so that means it will probably be one hour.  At Camp Barefoot, the Breakfast are getting the 3rd best slot on Friday, which means 7:00-9:00 or something like that.  I know that on Fri, The Breakfast gets one fat set, Cosmic Charlie gets two regular sets, and Barefoot Manner gets one fat set latenight.

Just thought that would help... Once you are on 81 there will be a big BAREFOOT sign on the interstate, then then once approach the campground just follow the barefoot print signs to you get to the destination.
