Hey everyone, this is Wolfman live from the balcony at Puppet House. As I type I have a bird\'s-eye view of the postshow afterglow of what is surely one of the most severely ser Breakfast shows of all time.  They somehow managed to top last night\'s herculean effort.  First set tonight was equal energy to last night, which are now 1 and 1a in alltime greatest first sets.  They each had the boldness, brashness, and bravado of a 2am third set.  Awesome performance by both the band and particularly by the crowd for bringing top energy from box to wire.  Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band turned the place out like few albums could have.  Who knew that Lovely Rita Meter Maid was an epic psychedelic jam vehicle?  Somewhere, Lennon was smiling.  Third set capped off 6 sets of unprecedented, unparalelled, sustained ser face ownage for all who came.  Buquebus first jam featured an early sustained climax that blasted right through several would-be downbeats and drove the place mad.  The energy never came down from that point.  Another huge double drum solo, monster Mayfly, and heavily requested/heavily jammed Rufus had everyone in the house dialed in.  You know those shows where everyone in the joint is completely focused on the show, to the point where the walls could crumble around them and they wouldn\'t even notice?  That was both of these shows.  Superfly was a smokin old-school closer, played right here in this same room almost 7 years ago. To finish off the killer weekend, Rockin in the Free World w/ rotation showed Tim and Adrian\'s incredible musical prowess as they traded drums and guitar with no dropoff.  Ser, ser, ser weekend.

As I listen to the awestuck comments eminating below me from fans old and new, it is clear that everyone who was here this weekend has seen the light in a bigtime way.         Those who weren\'t on board before are in it full-steam now.  To all who were here and those who could not be, I\'d recommend getting on the Breakfast train and getting comfy, cause this train is gaining steam and I\'d hate to see anyone left behind.  Until next weekend...

Wolfman

there was a discussion about making breakfast discs to hand out to newbies... I think we should just burn mutiple copies of both nites and hand them out at moe.down as a 6 disc sampler. these 2 shows say it all.

tonite was insane. so glad I went. review later. ingest now, then sleep.

the show was definitely intense. big party scene, with the BYOB and all.. the place was stuffed both nights, only difference last night was that it was about 30 degrees hotter in there. talk about a sweatbox.. it appeared that G-Spot Tornado brought in quite a few more people than Fuzebox did as well..

girl/guy ratio was very good both nights; i\'d say even better last night. when they \'flopped two pair\' at the beginning of the second set, they were definitely some nice ones, although it was later confirmed that one of the floppers was under 18, which kinda made me feel all dirty and what not.. but, i digress..

the gladys finisher was a great opener, but it was a little uncomfortable for a bit with tim\'s non-working mic. dobs got it going though, and they were off..

i was saying as good as the first night\'s first set looks on paper, i think last night\'s first set was better - much more energy, imo, with quite a few old-school songs!

sgt. pepper\'s - they nailed it. specifically, the Within You Without You and Lovely Rita. to quote Kevin Ross: \'that Lovely Rita made my anus tighten up.\'..

third set brought the big guns, and Buquebus was definitely the highlight. \'off the hook\' as they say. Walsh: \'that Buquebus made every other song they played wish it was named Buquebus.\' now take that, raise the volume on it about 30db, lift it up a little closer to the ceiling, and repeat about 53 times. that was Walsh after the show. :D

overall, this was right up there with 06/10/05 (my favorite show to date).

WOW!

I can not describe in words the feelings and emotions that I experienced last evening. One of the greatest sets ever experienced, was the 3rd set. Monster tunes. Buquebus, Rufus, May Fly, FFT.

I love this band.
I love all the fans.

A new chapter in Breakfast history was started last night. The page turned during the Sgt. Peppers Lonely Heart Clube Band reprise. You could feel it.

Thank you to all of you that I had the pleasure to experience this with. From JKing to Daffadil to Leith to Oldnewbie and Mark to Stephengencs, Pitchie, DavePeck and finally my buddy Tim, who was completely owned last night.

Long Live The Breakfast!

Yea I would have to say in my mind this might have just topped the infamous 6/10/05 Porters Show.  Rufus was just out of control, it mellowed out perfectly with the Inca Roads tease at the end (my fav zappa tune).  I really can\'t get over how many heavy hitters they brought out.  I could have run a marathon and would have perspired less sweat. Glad to see the videotapage goin on, this is one show I def cannot wait to relive. Def the best Breakfast weekend ever! Breakfast.......the best band you never heard live!

Hey, delfunk1 finally nice to meet ya man...your buddy looked confused during the whole show...he was seriously foaming at the mouth...

But anyways...Jed on bone for the first tune of SPLHCB was F*cking sweet!  Then they played When I\'m 64....That needed a horn section to!  But who cares they nailed it will the lectric stuff....

I think the band enjoyed playing there to...from what Tim was saying in the end...praising puppet house and such...I do hope they plan on returning there next summer or even earlyer than that!

Oh ya, BTW, one of the kids I brought, his face melted off at the end of the night, he could not control his emotions, he was yelling and screaming at the gas station down the street!

I have never witnessed such a special evening with the Breakfast since the first time I walked in on them in Callahans. I was still saying, WOW, 20 minutes into the car ride home. At times I felt like crying from the emotional overload. I plan on returning to the Puppet House to find my brain and face. Hopefully, they haven\'t swept the place yet.

As for returning to the Puppet House in the near future, I wouldn\'t count on it, IMO. The Breakfast has made a bold statement to the jamband community and now it is only time before they explode, I expect moe.down to propel this band to new hieghts. The place was packed and after a 2 night run like that, a gig next year at the Puppet House would surely bring in an excess of to many people for the venue to handle.

Enjoy it while it lasts, my friends. A new day has dawned for the Breakfast. Buckle up!

Just wanted to say what an amazing night I had last night. Being a newbie, I was just floored by the whole experience. I hung out w/ great people and put faces to names w/ others.
I also saw an amazing little glow stick show thanks to Walsh.
There\'s not even words to describe what I\'m feeling about the whole thing.
So, thanks.

I don\'t even know where to begin. That was one of the best turnouts for females at a Breakfast show to date, Friday night too, that I have seen. The tides are turning. Soon, there will be many more to fend off.

As the drum solo was starting last nite. Tim turned to me and said " I don\'t know(shaking his head) This is only the 2nd song, I know we have more songs to play but..(shakes head again w/ the biggest smile) I have no idea what... After the show the words"possibly the best set I have ever played" were uttered in pure exhaustion by the man known in these parts as TPalms PME. As evidenced by the devastation of the  groupmind this was probably a pretty accurate description of his playing.
Oh and that 2nd set? whatever guys! Talk about making a musical statement!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was so blown away by the bands performance, I personally thanked Adrian, Ron, Jordan and Tim for letting me be part of the best set of Breakfast ever. When I went to talk to Tim afterwards I said, "that was the best set of music I ever seen" and just like Leith said, TPalms PME answered, "that was the best set I ever played". I then went to thank him for it happening and told him that I was glad we could share it together.

Not to bad for a "shitty, 3rd tier bar band", IMO

Title: The Breakfast: Bringing Down The Puppet House
Post by: Wolfman on August 21, 2005, 04:19:29 pm
OK everyone, here\'s the jambase/jambands review.  Hopefully it gets published.  56 adjectives, all different.  Phew!

*  *  *
The Breakfast: Bringing Down The Puppet House

This is Seth Wolfman reporting live from the balcony at the Puppet House Theater in Branford, CT, where The Breakfast have just finished a colossal two night mega-throwdown.  As I type I have a bird\'s-eye view of the post-show afterglow, which is quite bright because The Breakfast lit this place up.  The air is so thick after these shows that you can taste it.

This two night run started last night to a stuffed house that came ready to party.  The first set was highlighted by a creative and seamless “Garcian Fishbowl” > “Escher’s Etchings” that featured scintillating rock-trance hybrid jams juxtaposing many ins and outs, highs and lows.  The band’s newest epic composition, “Gravity”, yielded its finest version to date.  The gargantuan exploratory jam and vocal reprise were garnished with glistening gobo work by new light tech Gregg Ellis.  Overall the energy that the crowd packed for this set was unprecedented for the first set of a two-night run; it felt like a 2am festival set.

To make this run even more interesting, the band announced that it would be covering a complete classic rock album each night.  After much anticipation and predictions, the crowd was surprised and pumped as the opening strains of “Roadhouse Blues” signified that we would be the first people to ever hear a complete live rendition of The Doors’ Morrison Hotel.  Familiar tunes such as “Peace Frog” and “Ship of Fools” kept the audience grooving, while the band capitalized on the one-time opportunity to jam on rarities such as “Maggie M’Gill.”

When a band opens a set with a song that is usually a closer, it always brings an element of excitement and intensity to the table.  Tonight’s third set opened with “Taboo or Not Taboot” which immediately set the tone for a funk-down party atmosphere.  The highlight of the set was a roof-raising “Great Big Fiery Ball In The Sky.”  (Operating word: Fiery.)  No pretenses here, just a titanic in-your-face rock jam that made me picture the doors of the building actually blowing off.  The set ended back where it began, in funkytown, with funk monster “Gladys Pimp and Kangaroos With Me.”  After inciting a raging dance party, the band ended the show with the song tantalizingly unfinished.  The crowd was so utterly dialed in during this entire show that the walls could have crumbled around us and we wouldn’t have even noticed.

Show #2 opened with the daunting task of having to be better than show #1.  A packed, rowdy pre-show house showed that the fans were clearly up to the challenge.  Then The Breakfast showed they were equal to the task by opening up with “Gladys Pimp” right where they had left it off the night before.  You could splice the recordings together and not even know that it was a different show.  This set was defined by the Breakfast’s unparalleled segue savvy.  “Puppetry” > “Garcian Fishbowl” > “Frankly Po Zest” > “Puppetry” looks great on paper, and sounds even better in person.  Puppetry featured a puppeteer working one of the incredible 2-foot classical puppets that hauntingly decorate the venue.  By the time the conquering new tune “Doughboy” closed the set, it was impossible to tell which was hotter: the wild audience, the jams, or the anticipation as to what tonight’s album cover would be.

The crowd waited eagerly for The Breakfast to strike up the first chords of set II so we could see what the album would be.  Few songs could have brought the explosive response that accompanied the opening strains of “Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.”  The added elements of hundreds of balloons and Jed Kordell on trombone signified that there would be no messing around with this unthinkable covering of a seminal rock album.  The highlights were a triumphantly trippy “Within You Without You” and a superbly psychedelic “Lovely Rita.”  Who knew that “Lovely Rita” was an epic psychedelic jam vehicle?  Somewhere, Lennon was smiling.

Third set capped off six sets of sustained stimulation for all who came. The first jam in “Buquebus” featured an early climax that blasted right through several would-be downbeats and drove the house nutty. The energy never came down from that point. Another huge double drum solo, monstrous “Mayfly Disarray”, and heavily requested “Rufus” had everyone in the house in full freak mode.  “Superfly Phaddy Phat” opened with an impressive beat-box vocal jam, then emerged as the smokin’ old-school closer it has always been.  The encore of “Rockin In The Free World” featured the musical prowess of guitarist Tim Palmieri and drummer Adrian Tromantano.  For the entire encore, Palmieri played drums and Tromantano played guitar and sang lead vocals, and there was no drop-off in musical quality whatsoever.  Unbelievable.  The place went mad one more time…the lights came up…and the audience was left to bask in the glorious aftermath teeming with love and satisfaction.

I can feel it from way up here.

No doubt.  Right now i can\'t conjure up the words to express the emotions i felt and am now left with after this weekend.  The music was amazing, the people were cool as shit, the beer was abundant (and cheap), and venue was rocking!  PHT by far the best venue....in the world! I\'ll have a full review later, i just wanted to check the setlist and thank everyone (the band, the serheads, the newbs) for a fuckin\' amazing weekend!

Peace,

As the drum solo was starting last nite. Tim turned to me and said " I don\'t know(shaking his head) This is only the 2nd song, I know we have more songs to play but..(shakes head again w/ the biggest smile) I have no idea what... After the show the words"possibly the best set I have ever played"

Late last night, even after wolf had finished writting his post and come downstairs, I was talking with tim. He looked exhaused. He just looked at me with a smile as wide as his face and said "I don\'t know what happen. Somewhere in that show something clicked - everyhwere. The whole place came together on it. I\'ve never played like that before in my life, I don\'t think any of us have. I went somewhere completely different for the entire 3rd set... And you have it all on video."

then we both just laughed in disbelief.

balance...balance...Balance...Balance...BALANCE...BAAAAAAAAAAALAAAAAAAAANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Food for Thought=best verison ever

Buquebus=best version ever and possible all-time top Breakfast jam

Sgt. Pepper\'s=most emotional, crowd-crazy-yet-attentive set ever

8-20-05=unquestionably my favorite Breakfast show to date

Great job on the review Wolf...more later about the performances...but a quick word on life.

A thank you to everyone for one of the most enjoyable weekends of my existence. I thanked each member of the band afterwards for their intensely original performances and I will thank all of my wonderful friends for our intensely original lives. We lived the shit out of this weekend and we do it up llike no one else.

I mean, who else can you do this stuff with? It was 5:45 am at Todd\'s and we had just completed a game of darts (Me and Tim, Team Pasta, vs. Seth and Jed, Team Matza). We lost a close decision to the Matza Boys, after which we danced like fucking maniacs and sang to some Seth-led Hebrew number.

Fred summed it nicely: "You guys are nuts."

IKEY! MIKEY! JAKE AND SAM! WE ARE THE BOYS WHO EAT NO HAM!

RONNIE! TOMMY! MARY AND LISA! WE ARE THE BOYS WHO JUST EAT PIZZA!

MAZEL TOV!

FONGOUL!

My favorite part of the second set was She\'s Leaving Home.

Sure, the Within You Without You and Lovely Rita jams were excellent, but She\'s Leaving Home was my favorite moment because of the crowd reaction. The crowd was screaming insanely from the opening of the album right through Fixing a Hole with balloons going every which way. The start of She\'s Leaving Home was drawn out for a few seconds while the band apparently waited for the crowd to quiet (they looked a little anxious). Literally, in one second, the crowd went from screaming to pindrop silence and soaked in an elegant version of a beautiful song. Then as soon as it ended, the place erupted in unison and was loud for the rest of the set. It was just a great to feel the crowd recognize when to lay up and when to slam dunk.

The happiness in Tim\'s face while he sang it was evident. In fact, the facial expressions and body language of the band during this set were something to behold. They clearly knew they were engaged in something special and were loving every last note of it. They weren\'t alone.

Ok buddy, first step...get a bt client (this is the program you use to do the download), i suggest Bit Comet , the free download is here: http://www.bitcomet.com/doc/download.htm

do whatever you have to do to install it (if you need help with that just ask, but i\'m sure if you can sign up and post on this site you should be ok with that)

Next step: click the links to the show downloads on the main site or here:
Aug 20th
http://bt.etree.org/details.php?id=17467

Aug 19th
http://bt.etree.org/details.php?id=17446

Next step: click the torrent links and wait for it to show up in your Bit comet screen (which if not open already should automatically do it, if i\'m not mistaken)

Then all you have to do is click ok and it should start up.....

if that was too confusing or wrong anyone feel free to correct me....good luck dude

Thanks fellas.  Before I asked for help, I did download was I\'m assuming was a BT client - not sure if it\'s the best one, I\'ll deal with that later.  And, it appears to be downloading as we speak.  But, it\'s been almost an hour and it\'s only 24% done.  Does that sound right, I thought it would be much quicker.  In any case, once this is downloaded, do I have to convert it to a wave file in order to burn it onto CDR?  If so, how?

Thanks for the responses.

Yes Kevin, it\'ll take a while to download. After it does, all the songs will be what are called FLAC files. You will need to download a music converter (I suggest DB powerAMP http://www.dbpoweramp.com/dmc.htm ) to convert the FLACs to MP3s or WAVs. Their website/wizard will show you how to do everything. I\'m a 19-year old computer software illiterate chick and even I figured it out after doing the proper research. :) For your BitTorrent client, I personally use Azureus, but there are plenty of other programs that work just fine. Any other questions, just PM me here.

The Breakfast should never again play a gig without Greg Ellis. now that he\'s there, the visually entropic levels he adds to the show completely envelopes you into the music! the music was mind-bogglingly incredible, but i thought a couple tunes went over the top due to the lights (doughboy, for example).

now all we gotta do is get jordan tunred up some, and world domination is soon to follow!

get thee on the road, boys, you\'ve got it ALL now!!!

I agree totally with you except got #3.

I might have been annoying to a couple of .infoers at the end of set 2 on Saturday night, when I came to the revalation that the Breakfast have turned a new page in their history. They know who they are and I am sorry if I went overboard on it. For those who were there, I am talking about the Sgt. Peppers reprise and set 3. I bet you can hear the page turn on the recording.

awesome fucking show..unbelieveable. no one mentioned enough about these balloons that went up in the air when the band started playing sgt pepper\'s..me, gavin, gencs, elissa, sallyalli, mandler and a bunch of others blew up 150 balloons that were released and definitely kicked ser asses.

Cool now I know who to blame for those fucking things. Had me jumping around all 2nd set just trying to keep them from hitting the mics. Not to mention all of the popping ballons made the levels on the recordings hit 0db. I honestly didnt really start listening to the band until Benefit of Mr. Kite.

You might have blown 150 up. I def. took out at least 30 by letting the air out.

It really distracted from the tunes eith the constant popping of balloons

aaaawwwww come on bro! you gotta admit though it added to the energy of the show, or at least it did up front and it looke KILLER!

Seriously though I hope it didn\'t screw the recording up too much(especially your equipment), cause this is one in the books, I agree with Spacey you could feel the page turn , and I agree with Gencs I didn\'t know what it was till he said so, you could feel the breeze baby, that\'s a giant fuckin page!!

I liked the ballon idea. I do understand that the amount of mushies I consumed this evening might have added to it. I think the energy was wild with them. But, in all fairness, I can understand how annoying and distracting it must be as a taper to have to protect your mic stand.

while i agree that the balloons were a nice *sight*, the sound is what kills it.. the band had even mentioned that they were very distracting while they were playing, considering the pops were much louder than adrian\'s snare drum.. and yeah, it sucks to have to listen to it on the recording too.

In all fairness I was being semi - sarcastic.

Funny story sort of. right before the 2nd  Set. Peck looks over the balcony and points to a balloon in his hand. I immediately think he is offering me 1 and grab Kim and run to the top of the stairs. He looks at me and says " I just wanted to warn you they will be coming down in a few." I must have looked so dissapointed :)

Here I was thinking I was gonna get some N2O. LOL

I felt like an ass.

Balloons are cool and it wouldnt have been a big deal if folks didn\'t pop them. I just let the air out of them and send them back in to the crowd.

the awesomeness of this weekend surpassed anything i could have ever possibly imagined...

... the greatest part was the fantastic company... leith it was awesome to meet you, todd i can\'t thank you enough for the unbelieveable hospitality, the whole weekend crew: you guys are amazing. I feel so honored to be part of such an awesome family!

hey guys, sorry about the balloons interfering with the recording... it was never our intention to make your job difficult... the mindset of an avid show-goer is much different than a taper, and this is the first time the differences have been brought to my attention.... again, my apologies....

i may be wrong, but i was under the impression that the enjoyment of the showgoers comes before the convenienve of the tapers.  granted i know that the tapers make big sacrifices to get these shows to us and i am eternally grateful for this -- it\'s you guys who allowed me to get into the breakfast in the first place -- but come on, i\'ll bet the balloons looked great and i\'ll be the people who were there will have that as a wonderful memory from the show, and me, i\'ll have to deal with popping when i listen to the show.  those who tape are on a high pedastle in my eyes, but the experience of the show definitly comes first.  i dont remember who said this but it was said by a .infoer, and i paraphrase, \'if the show was all about the recording, shows would take place in a recording studio and we\'d watch them play from behind a glass window and listen to them on monitors or headphones\'.

no reason to apologize at all.

Sure it made for some exciting moments but overall I would rather tape a show where people are having a blast than not. The energy was great. the crowd had some sing-a-long parts lots of fun.

For Fun. Things tapers hate in no paticular order

Balloons
Beach Balls
infaltable toys
Loud Whistlers/screamers
people who have conversations under the mics
people who grab the stands while trying to move around the crowd.

having said that we had almost all of the above during the weekend and the tapes sound pretty good.

Who are these people who will walk up and stand on other peoples coolers ?
On Friday at the begining of the show this asshole decides to walk on everbodys coolers until he got to Nikki\'s (which was styrofoam) and crushed the thing. I could\'nt believe it. The room wasn\'t even that pack at the time and he just kind of shrugged it off like no big deal. Then on Saturday this other guy decides to stand on my cooler right next to my mics. When we asked him to move he acted like we were crazy for not wanting him to stand on our cooler.

Just to be clear I HAD THE BEST FUCKING TIME AT THESE SHOWS none of this really pissed me off except when beers were stolen out of my cooler. We still had a killer time and it was all worth it

The Breakfast should never again play a gig without Greg Ellis. now that he\'s there, the visually entropic levels he adds to the show completely envelopes you into the music! the music was mind-bogglingly incredible, but i thought a couple tunes went over the top due to the lights (doughboy, for example).

now all we gotta do is get jordan tunred up some, and world domination is soon to follow!

get thee on the road, boys, you\'ve got it ALL now!!!

wait till you see the light show in a smaller venue with more than 3 intelligent lights.

what you saw this weekend is honestly now where near as intense as it gets in a small room where the haze has a chance to build up and the light arent 15 feet above the stage.

FFO at PHT is SER.

Did the band have plans to use the Webster Theater (BOO!) for the FFO this year? PHT would be so much more fitting and after a show like that, the place would be packed with freaks and geeks. I remember Walsh posting that Saturday, October 29th is confirmed for the Webster. (Any truth to this?)

Set III on Saturday was the best single set of The Breakfast I have EVER HEARD!

Buquebus tore through my cerebral cortex into my medula oblongata and sucked my brain dry.  It then travelled down my central nervous system violating every synapse then made a jump into my bones and devoured the marrow...the song now owns my soul(more than ever) and dictates all my actions(although it is letting me still go to Camp Bisco).  This weekend was...you know what I\'ll just let the events speak for themselves...those who were there will NEVER forget it.

I love all of you...Sept should be fun.

Title: Thanks and random items found in the aftermath clean-up
Post by: Todd on August 22, 2005, 07:16:13 pm
First...Thanks to the band for one of my most enjoyable weekends in years and years!!! Also, thanks to all who made the after-parties at my house an absolute blast. It was my purest pleasure to be able to host them!!! BIG HUGE props and thanks to Elisa and her helpers for feeding the masses!!!

OK, found in clean-up:

One sleeping bag and one shirt----owners known. To be delivered Friday.
One small glass jar that smells REALLY good. Empty. No really, it was when I found it...unfortunately :(
One "Scunci" comb
One "Real Radio" t-shirt
One SOAKING WET "Monkey Farm" t-shirt (Gencs????)
One bottle "L\'Oreal kids( )" shampoo----I thought I didn\'t allow kids into the party.
One bottle "White Rain" conditioner.
Six struggling for life brain cells----sorry, I put them out of their misery. Hopefully they weren\'t your last ones. (But, of coarse, if they were, you don\'t care) :P
Two mostly melted faces----hung them as artwork and proof to my other friends what this band that they can\'t stand will do to you if you have a clue about music!!!

Thanks again to everyone who made this past weekend go down in history!!!!

Until the next blow-out....

It really distracted from the tunes eith the constant popping of balloons

sorry it ruined your recording, but i think the few minutes the balloons were up there made it all worth the 40 minutes i spent before the first set blowing the damn things up.  it looked to me like people were diggin it............. i wouldnt mind doing something like that again, maybe something not so loud next time............

^^^^^ i was wondering who that jerk drawing on the balloons was.  anyone remember the kid who was up in the air for a little while in the beginning of rufus??  sometimes i get really excited when i hear the amazing drum intro to rufus , and what other person would i rather share my joy with - the dude who  got me into the scene, and played rufus to me for the first time.  so as long as i am with george and rufus is played, that kid will be in the air.

by the way, thanks george

Nice review Leith......

Regarding the whole balloon thing....
sorry, but balloons will forever be a part of the live concert scene as far as I am concerned....
Do you think Phish and/or the tapers from NYE 2002/03 were pissed because all you could hear through Runaway Jim was balloons popping all throughout the song?  It was part of the show...hence its part of the recording...

Thank Gencs.

As for the balloons I forgot to mention them in anyway as I was sooooo absorbed in the band that I never got the full effect of having a 100+ balloons dropped on us. I remember watching Alli poke them away from the band and Timmy looking perturbed a couple of times. If I had bothered to turn around I probably would have been transported back to GD NYE shows I\'m sure.
As for the Phish tapers I guarantee there were a large majority of those tapers :pissed: that balloons were hitting their mics. It\'s a bummer but I agree w/ Gencs in that is all a part of the show. As a matter of fact the pops help bring back the night just that much clearer for me.

Not sure how this thread took on the ballon topic again but please read my post where i said i was being semi - sarcastic about the balloons. I dont want anyone to have hurt feelings about it.

I was making a sarcastic comment about the balloons because of my experience at the show defending the mics.

Trust me. I am very aware that the last thing people are concerned about is the tapers. It has always been that way.

I think it is great that folks would take the time and effort to try to make the experience of the show better for others. and for that I commend you guys.

So not true...well not in this scene anyway....

There was initial talk about getting balloons and beach balls.....
I quickly said NO to the beach balls because at Toads on July 1, Fitzys camera and mics were almost simultaniously knocked over by a beach ball...

we care about our tapers here....

I totally understand where people are coming from. It is just a totally different experience between concert goer and taper. I really appreciate the NO BEACH BALLS ruling. it could have gotten ugly. :)

I would say that this was the best "The Breakfast" Rufus ever, but hands down my vote still goes to the Rufus from the Toad\'s show when PB opened for Amphibian for the "BEST" ever Rufus.  That Buquebus->Rufus tandom was world bending, shape-shifting gooey-ness.

The PH \'Queeb made all other Breakfast songs wish they were called Buquebus.

BTW, I cannot stop listening to this recording. Totally insane. I still don\'t understand why these guys aren\'t a household name yet.

thanks rujah!

we use roxio, choose the first disc\'s worth of songs, hit dao, and it starts its reading of the wav files and tries to set up a table of contents. i think that part is normal, but jill says she\'s never seen roxio set up a toc before. it then just gets stuck. usually at about 3%, not of burnig, but 3% of reading. after a minute or so an error message pops up saying that there is a reading or toc error. it then pops out the blank fuji. however, sometmies it\'ll sound like the burner is firing up, but only when the disc is ejected. i\'ve tried burning all six discs, but i just realized i haven\'t tried to burn anything else since this problem started. it did burn fine last week, though.

Gordo, lighten up; that wasn\'t meant to be taken so seriously.

Also, it had nothing to do with you. I probably should have stated thus.

Anyhow, you probably should send a magnifying glass instead of kneepads because I\'m sure I would need some help finding that thing. :P

Families argue amongst each other but they also know that they love each other. I agree, if Leith can come out here and enjoy it, feeling welcome in this family, then Kate or Gordo can surely come out to CT and feel right at home.

Bringing this thread back on track (;)), have just got done listening to this show - finally got to it and screw my ISP!!

All I can say is I don\'t how you survived the third set - though my brain was going to explode listening to it on headphones, so what it was like if you were there... And as for Animal on guitar, can he shred or what? Even better than the last recording I heard with him on the axe.

I now have to decide which is the show I use to try to convert a big jefferson starship fan to the band - 19th or 20th?

IMHO. (I havent heard Daves copy but we were set up right next to each other so...) My guess is that his recording of the 19th is probably a better recording then the recording made on the 20th. However having said that I will say that the show from the 20th probably gets the nod over the 19th.

The recording on the 20th has this 1 guy who just cant seem to stop whistling. And he has a pair of lungs on him. All throughout the 2nd set and in to the 3rd set it gets worse. Its like he thinks he is in the band or something. That shrill loud ass whistling is worse then the balloons. It isnt so bad when he is doing in between songs but during the quiet parts of Sgt Peppers it is just down right obnoxious.

So I guess I would say if they are used to listening to live recordings then go with the 20th buit if not go with the 19th with maybe some "higlights" from the 20th

Two possibilities:
