Now playing on the front page of http://www.thebreakfast.info - live Breakfast shows from the Live Music Archive (http://www.archive.org/audio/etree.php) at archive.org (http://www.archive.org)!
Being able to play (stream) Breakfast shows on-demand has been an idea since this site was started, but was put on hold indefinitely due to bandwidth constraints, and hasn\'t been thought about for quite some time.
Recently, WALSH made me aware of biscoradio (http://www.biscoradio.com/), a site which streams Disco Biscuits shows, where users can vote on which show gets played next. He suggested trying to get something similar going for thebreakfast.info.
That\'s when it dawned on me. The Breakfast Archive Team has been uploading shows to archive.org non-stop, and recently, archive.org started giving uploaders the option to make streams available. So rather than having one show playing where users join in and listen (like a radio station), we have tons of shows available to us, and they\'re all on-demand - any show is available to play at any time!
So I went through the archive to see which shows had streams available, and threw together a center block on the front page, where you can choose a stream to listen to from all that are available, and bingo! You now have on-demand streaming Breakfast, right here on http://www.thebreakfast.info!
Of course, none of this would be possible without the Live Music Archive (http://www.archive.org/audio/etree.php). It really is an amazingly powerful tool, and I encourage everyone to check it out and use it.
Please provide any feedback you may have about Radio Joe. It\'s new, and it was done quickly, so it\'s definitely possible that there\'s a bug or two. Just let me know about it, and I\'ll take care of it.
Enjoy!

Great idea! Thank you for marshalling your resources and putting this together.

Works like a charm. I am listening to Mariaville right now. After listening to the introductions I am in the mood for pancakes and cider.
-
Dave, I don\'t care what they say about you... you are the MAN!
-
now if only we had speakers on the computers at work... and if I had faster than 56k at home... great idea though!
-
this is sweet..Im listening to Mariaville to now and Tim being a complete goof in between songs...as you hear maybe 4 or 5 claps inthe background. Anyway, while i get some work done for school I will enjoy a steady rotation of Radio Joe. Thanks there Dave and whoever contributed.

Great idea Dave - perfect for checking out the multitude of shows I\'ve not got around to downloading yet.

i\'ve added a spin-off to Radio Joe, which you may have noticed..
Lil\' Joe is now available on the left in the forum screens, to make it more accessible while you browse the forums. due to size constraints, only dates are listed on Lil\' Joe.
enjoy!

I noticed that there aren\'t many shows from 2002 and 2003 on Radio Joe though there are plenty from 2001.

thats because those shows were uploaded in 2002-03 before the streaming option was available and i dont think there is a way to add streaming audio to a show thats already there.

helluva job dave, do you ever sleep??

I\'m trapped down in Long Beach for the weekend and realized I could utilize RadioJoe to satisfy my Breakfast craving. I\'m at my girlfriend\'s sister\'s house and I\'ve got some music streaming in the house. I\'ve had Breakfast playing for the last few hours and we\'re awaiting the Easter guests. I\'ve been told to "keep Psychedelic Breakfast playing" while the guests are here. I guess it\'s a hit in this house now too!
