now seems like a good time to get acquainted with some of them. links abound in this thread

spoon - transference
Completely agree on spoon. However, definitely not their best album ever. But still a good listen. Esp enjoyed "Nobody gets me but you" and "Got Nuffin". If anyone out there wants to start getting into them, I suggest listening to earlier albums first. :)
Great Thread, BTW.
With that said, other albums I enjoyed:
She & Him - Volume II
Mavis Staples - You are not alone
(Thank you, Mr. Jeff T****y for introducing her to a new generation by producing this awesome mix of blues and soul...)
Jack Johnson - To The Sea
Sufjan Stevens - The Age of Adz
Arcade Fire - The Suburbs and Arcade Fire - Contra (both were in this same year, right??)
Ray LaMontagne - God Willin and the Creek Don\'t Rise
Josh Ritter - So Runs the World Away
Am I the only person in the world that thought the MGMT album was subpar in comparison to Oracular Spectaculor?? I was highly disappointed....

if you were expecting something similar to oracular spectacular, it doesn\'t surprise me that you were disappointed. i\'ve heard that same sentiment from many. obvioulsy, i thought it was awesome mostly because of how different it was (and how well it was done). they took a big risk by getting psychedelic and i think it really paid off. i would like to see some more of their pop sensibility come through with their next album though...just because they\'re so good at it

Agree with Skye\'s last two picks... Ray and Ritter...
And I would put Dr. Dog\'s "Shame" above both of those. And Sufjan Steven\'s "The Age of Adz" probably at first place.
Been sort of a weak year, overall, though.
-
grabbing \'the age of adz\' right now. i\'ve heard too many good things about it to keep ignoring it
-
zuke you should up everyting in your list. other than LCD and the gorrillaz, ive heard nothing on there. or anywhere else in this thread. i need to catch up on 2010 before 2011 hits

if this is your first time getting into sufjan, i also recommend an earlier album called \'Seven Swans\'. \'the age of adz\' is very electronic, but \'seven swans\' is very mellow/ballad driven.....shows the huge variation he can do as an artist.

completely agree. nothing really wow\'d me. there have been years where a new album ruled my life and playlist. this year, i found myself often going back to old staples....

caribou on the way, maybe some more too.

i\'m currently upping big boi.

Saw Bonobo a couple weeks ago in LA. fucking awesome show! i thought it was just gonna be him (the DJ) but he played w/ a live band, including harpist and flautist. Also, Andreya Triana (who is the vocalist on Black Sands) was there as well. I bought her album "Lost Where I Belong" at the show...really beautiful. If i can figure out how to up it, I will. It is a good complement to Bonobo Black Sands

I\'ve been seeing Orgone for at least the last 4 years. I probably won\'t make as much of an effort to see them because their sets are getting old for me, often playing the same songs every time they are in town (in addition to outgrowing the intimate venue they used to rage at in SF). All of their albums are great and they are a great group to see in the afro/funk/soul category. Their label, Ubiquity, puts out a lot of great albums.
