This looks absolutely ridiculous to me. I bet this wailed! The video clip of the encore is straight up nasty good. I love this stuff!
-
omg it was so good i cant say it enough
-
They def segwiched in from In Memory of Elizabeth Reed, and stoops and jenson were on for Willie the Pimp as well as Tricky Ways. Crazy show. Loved the peaks in rufus although it wasnt your normal rufus. Beef Barley from left field followed by TGSOT from even lefter field. And i yelled I am the slime, but willie the pimp was ser. Place was pretty packed too. Next time they play iron horse everyone pay in quarters.

Iron Horse is really a shite venue for The Breakfast, and it reflects badly on my home town to Breakfast fans that they are still seeing the band play at the Iron Horse -- which is actually a nice club for old people having dinner while they watch a concert at like 7:00PM -- instead of being at Pearl Street Nightclub which is actually a decent venue and better suited to our type of crowd anyway. Most of the other "jam-bands" play Pearl Street.
When Psychedelic Breakfast started playing in Northampton, as far as I remember, it was at Pearl Street Clubroom and Fire & Water (closed). So for real please get The Breakfast to play Pearl Street Ballroom. JGB, RAQ, Rubblebucket (tonight) ... they all seem to be able to play at Pearl Street.
I\'m on a rant right now cuz Northampton is a great town with lots of music but it\'s insane to have The Breakfast play at this town\'s shittiest venue!
The same dude owns Calvin, Pearl Street, Iron Horse, The Basement, Look Park, Mountain Park ... regional music venue monopoly! But at least Pearl Street is a fun venue and a place people actually enjoy going out to. So what I\'m saying is... I\'d rather have one show a year at Pearl Street than two a year at Iron Horse at this point. Make moves!
oh yeah, I recorded this... give me another couple days maybe...

Really not that much of a difference... Also, you have to realize that this was when PB hit their stride and they were really drawing decent crowds from North Hampton, UMass and the CT crew... That being said, looking at the schedule for both IH and PS, I really don\'t see a difference in who they\'re booking these days. Management should try and get their foot in the door again...

Yoda don\'t know if you\'ve been up to a Northampton show lately but the crowd size is pretty much the same if not even a little better sometimes than 2002-2003. I could be wrong... yeah a lot of CT peeps don\'t come up to Northampton anymore but there\'s a lot of fresh blood especially from a couple different towns around here who\'ve taken to raging Breakfast shows pretty seriously over the last year or two.
But yeah, interesting stats. Wonder why dropping "Psychedelic" from the name coincides with being stuck at the Iron Horse 100% of the time?

Haven\'t been to NH since \'01, but back then, PS was packed... So, I\'m only assuming that the attendance went down and that\'s why their back at IH... I could be completely wrong on this...

PS was great! Bonafide baby!! They were doing about 250-300 then.. A little light these days.

i think that a better/friendlier venue might bring the CT folks back. it would me. nobody wants to drive up there from here to get treated like shit. side note......did the name change help or hurt overall. enough time has gone by to merit discussion IMHO just not looking to bring any negativity. i thought it wasn\'t a good idea then, but i was the oldnewbie so i figured "what did i know". looking back now, i don\'t see any benefit although i\'m sure i\'m unaware of a lot.
-
IMO name change saw an almost immediate drop in attendance... and the fact that a lot of people who haven\'t seen them in years still fondly remember them as "Psychedelic Breakfast"... yeah it definitely didn\'t help :P
-
I still refer to them as PB... I personally think the name change was stupid, but I\'m not in the band, so I don\'t get a vote...

how about a psychedelic breakfast reunion show. book it at toads along with some promo and the fans vote on the setlist.
-
The name change has some historic relevance IMHO.
See it wasn\'t that long ago that are wonderfully esteemed congresscritters decided to pass this little law called the RAVE ACT
This for a very very brief moment caused promoters some anxiety.
This was just about the same time / prior to the name change.
My understanding was that a few promoters "dissed" the name of the band and the kind of attention it supposedly attracted. There was some talk that it could perhaps hurt the bands potential and that is why the name change happened.
I have always felt that it was a bad idea but for the right reasons. I at one time considered myself a psycho-naut so being associated with these rapscallions never bothered me. But the band in a way was declaring itself publicly that they were one of us to. I think that is what disappointed the "originals" more than anything when the name changed.
It is always easier to reflect back and make a call about the situation. I always thought Psychedelic Breakfast was a ballsy name.

:awwyeah:
At this point I wonder if the guys would even consider it. It is easy to make the call so long after the fact, but I think I would\'ve stuck with the name. But, the Breakfast works for me!
-
I have completely forgotten they were once called psychedelic breakfast. They are the Breakfast now. Accept it and move on.
-
^^
I agree. Pointless to do otherwise. But Northampton is a strange market for this band. One where it seems they should be having more success because the music scene is so alive here and there\'s so many hippie-peoples. So when it comes to Northampton + Breakfast ....... "what the fuck?!" is pretty much fair game discussion :P
-
lol agreed. how does this show sound tuna you get a chance to lisen yet ???
-
Sound isn\'t as crisp as I\'d hope... the balcony of the Iron Horse is a pretty bad spot to tape from. Sorry been tied up with shit but I\'ll get that up as soon as I can. Takes a few hours without distraction to get done... something I haven\'t had the luxury of much lately.
-
... I always thought Psychedelic Breakfast was a ballsy name.
Akin to "The Disco Biscuits." They did not change their name to "The Biscuits;" and now they have an annual Red Rocks gig.... food for thought.
I hear "Psychedelic Breakfast" and think wild rock band... when I tell people I like "The Breakfast" they think I\'m talking about "The Breakfast Club" movie or flapjacks and bacon...
I recently had a conversation/disagreement with a band member who was trying to come up with a name for their band... I was stating that "newbies" will decide whether or not to go to a show based on the band name, if no other information is available instead of the quality of music bringing in the fans. In actuality, it\'s some mixture of name and reputation.
Anyways, I think bringing back "Psychedelic Breakfast" would be a good idea IF the band wants to return to that direction... which could, in my opinion, lead to greater success, and lots of hard work touring. As far as I know, the band has many other commitments (families, etc.) and closer shows might be the only feasible option for everyone involved at this point.
n e ways, I figured I\'d throw my opinion out there. I\'ll keep enjoying all the shows; regardless of the name, they still fuckin rock!:guitar:
and tuna, thanks for taping!

It\'s too late to go back at this point... It is what it is at this point...
-
i think they should switch shit all up and change it to just The Psychedelic!

Ultimately I agree. They are the Breakfast! Changing back, while cool, would be a step in the wrong direction. Continuity is needed. This line up is supa-strong and kicking out great stuff in their limited schedule. Keep it up and good things will come.
Fun to talk about, though.
-
wheres the audio?? :)
-
Sorry lost the memory card.. will put this back on the list of things to do.. hopefully I didn\'t write over it..
-
its all good buddy just curious lol
-
I feel like I have heard this audio. Maybe in MP3? But, I don't have it archived.
Does anyone have this? Am I getting this mixed up with another show? Totally possible.
