Not sure if there is already a thread for this, but I couldn\'t find one so I am starting this.
Anybody know what Tim uses for his pedal board? I know he plays an SG and a Strat, not sure what amp he uses, but I am mainly interested in the pedals he uses. The boomerang is obviously one. I\'m pretty sure there\'s a whammy, and some sort of flanger.... anybody else know anything? I wonder if he uses a compression pedal and what kind of overdrive he uses. I\'ll def try to check it out the next show I go to but if anybody knows anything please post here! I\'m looking to buy some pedals and would like to know what the master himself uses.

Hope you have a big budget!

I know who would know this answer but he never posts.
Sean Miller since he is the one who basically has helped Tim put together his rig over time.
I\'ll see if I can\'t get Sean to post for you.

Yes, I hope I do too.

Clapton sucks
-
Seriously... Old Slowhand is far from "the master"..
I dont know much about Tim\'s rig except it\'s a Boomerang + aka Boomerang 2 ...
I have the first version.. maybe one of these nights I can try to see how the old swaparoo goes over
-
Seriously... No love for Clapton? All I needed to hear was the 24 Nights version of Have You Ever Loved A Woman and I was hooked. .. I guess it doesn\'t mean anything that Hendrix made it a stipulation that he be able to meet Clapton before going over to England.

I don\'t think he\'s bad but Robin Trower is/was 100x better. One of countless examples.
-
See - I may be dumb, but I had to look up Robin Trower to see who he was. See, I\'d have to be in the mod to listen to Protocol Harum, but I can throw on Blind Faith or the Rainbow Concert any day of the week and not get bored. I guess it\'s all personal taste.

Here is what I gathered.
Yamaha Magic Stomp
Boss DD3
Digitech Whammy
Dunlop GCB90
Boomerang
Boss CS3
Boss OC3
and the pedal that makes Tim sound like Tim is...
Dunlop BD-55Q (The Bucky Dent 55Q)
-
(The Bucky Dent 55Q)
the most power pedal legally sold in the US. Activating it is like slamming a line drive into your audiences face.

indeed.
I believe they are only made to order and he only makes a dozen or so per year.

Does he also use a MXR HGN 22x
or the "Higgins Compressor Pedal"?
- Miller
S.M. also forgot to mention the Boss BB-65
the "Bill Brasky Overdrive"

Anytime I can help.

Robin Trower had no creative liberty in Procol Harum. While they were a good band... Robin Trower\'s solo act following the split is a whole different animal.
Please check out Bridge of Sighs.... possibly the best British blues album of all time.
peace!

How about a follow-up: Does Tim run the Strat and the Spider through the same FX and amp? Or are there variations?
-
Bridge of Sighs - Oh yeah! Bought it new on vinyl when it came out and still have it. Classic!

Last I saw TB Tim was playing a Mesa Boogie Mark IV. I have a Mark II C+ that I should take to the show for him to play through tomorrow night;) Nah...that would be too much amp for Tim....I\'m kidding
-
The biggest component of Timmy\'s tone, aside from his hands, is his guitar amp. A Mesa Boogie Nomad 1x12 that he pumps thru a 4x12 recto cab. The foot switch to control the amp is dead center in his pedal board and is the majority of his distortion, beefed up with the aforementioned pedals. I am also a mesa user and have had a few discussions with Tim about how wonderful there amps are and how he should think about utilizing the effects loop with such a long chain. He has has taken care of the signal loss instead with a buffered line level pre- in his pedalboard. He did use to rock a Mark IV which is similar in sound to the his current Nomad rig.
