Title: Webster
Post by: Marcial on May 26, 2003, 07:34:51 pm
I noticed on the Webster Theater home page that there are 3 bands playing before PB.... anyone know what the plan is for PB?  1 long set?  2 Sets?  What time do they have to cut off at this place?
Title: hoping for 2 sets....

I have no idea what the protocol for time and shit is at the Webster...  All I know is that I am hopin for 2 huge sets...

I\'m hoping for the same... the reason I ask is because I remember times at Toad\'s when 3 or 4 opening bands would translate into time for only 1 set of PB before cut-off....

now I am curious to start the speculation thread as to what we might be treated to this saturday down in the ghetto...

Marcial...commin from Florida, you deserve a \'Score\'. Looks Like 4 DAYS until the deuce of webster shows in the deuceiest part of Hartford. We may all be treated to a * first time played,or heard at this one.. cant wait. Son of Simpleton would be a good one to end with. i think its been a while?!?

I think the last "local" Son Of Simpleton was at the last Webster show (02/14/03).  I don\'t really recall the setlists from the tour, though.

And not that I\'m ever not in the mood for it, I\'ve been particularly stuck on "Rufus" lately.

I\'d also like to hear an epic jam (think "No Quarter" from the last Living Room show).  "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" comes to mind... but that\'s just because I\'m listening to it right now.

OK, so I lied.  The last local (New England, anyway) "Son of Simpleton" was:
February 28th, 2003 - Dibden Theatre; Johnson State College; Johnson, VT.

They also played it in Tulsa, Oklahoma and Aspen, Colorado in April... but I assume you all missed those shows.

Title: CT cut-off time?
Post by: Marcial on May 29, 2003, 07:33:40 am
OK, according to the PB e-mail I got last night, they go on @ 11pm.  What is the cut-off time in CT??  I can\'t remember if it\'s 12am on weekdays and 1am on weekends or 1am on weekdays & 2am on weekends... if cut-off is @ 1am, looks like we will have one long set.....

AHHHHHHH Dibden, I remember it well.....seems like only yesterday we were driving thru the snow capped mountains......, hey Marcial be sure and pack plenty of SUNSHINE and warm weather and bring it on up this way, we sure could use it :)

This is sure to be a single set.  The positive side is that they do tend to stick to the schedule at the Webster so PB should get their allotment.  We could always kidnap a couple of the performers from the first couple bands or just pull their plug wires or something....

Then why does the billing only talk about PB and RAQ....
UGH to the n-th degree....
Title: don\'t you hate that....
Post by: Marcial on May 29, 2003, 07:01:04 pm
It is kinda misleading... Hell, when I bought a plane ticket I thought I was going to get 2 shows in... last summer I was able to get 3 shows in 2 days... it turns out that I will be seeing 1 set this time... lol... I\'m sure it will be worth it regardless, but I feel your pain....

Anyway, I can\'t wait to see everyone!  The countdown is on... less than 24 hrs until I land...

honestly...the band could come out, cover the theme to 3\'s Company, take a bow, walk off the stage....
and I would be happy as could be....

Post by: Stephengencs on May 30, 2003, 10:52:55 am
it is hard work....but I guess to each his/her own and to a dog...its bone.....

I am wondering re Saturday:
A. What the RAQ scene will be like.  I saw them when they opened for tDB and they were Meh....
B. Who is the 3rd band on this bill?
C. Is there a pregame planned?
Title: Webster
Post by: Marcial on May 30, 2003, 11:05:18 am
I have heard RAQ as filler on a PB disc where PB opened for them... I wasn\'t too crazy about it, but it\'s tough to judge from just a few songs...

There are two more bands... one of them is called Bunji... can\'t remember the other one, but they are all listed on the Webster\'s website.
Title: so there are 3 bands before PB?
Post by: Stephengencs on May 30, 2003, 11:12:13 am
wow.....
Well I have waited since (Grand Band Slam) too see the band, not counting the Vallo NewHaven Party, so I am sure that a one-set-wonder will be sweeter than sweet....but man, wheres my "An Evening With Psychedelic Breakfast"??????

Marcial, you in town yet?
Title: Not yet.....

Title: Webster Weekend Wrap-up
Post by: Marcial on June 03, 2003, 10:33:35 am
What up everyone... I\'m back in FL... at work... lol... seems like only 5 mins ago, I was struttin\' outta here on my way up to Hartford!  I guess time flys when you\'re having fun, right?  Anyway, great weekend, good show, good crowd, good afterparty, bad choice not taking Timmy up on his proposal for a Cheap Sunglasses, bad weather on Sunday, good beer, good burgers, excellent pizza.  That\'s it in a nutshell.

Nice to see all the old-timers and meet the new-timers as well...

Until next time......
