That\'s a great setlist...what there is of it.  How does a band play six songs and get their closer chopped off?  I know the Breakfast can come out firing harder than any band, but this isn\'t fair, there\'s no opportunity for real momentum.  This is like going to a fancy restaurant where the food is awesome but the portion is so small that it\'s done in 4 bites.  This is like going to a Red Sox game where in the first inning Beckett strikes out the side and Oritz hits a home run, and then the game gets rained out.  This is like if you bought a Lambourghini, drove it off the lot and smoked everyone for 20 miles, and then it runs out of gas.  This is like you\'re having sex with a super hottie for 30 seconds and it\'s just getting good, but then you throw them off of you, get dressed, and walk out without saying a word.

Well, I hope everyone had fun and it wasn\'t raining too hard on the Rocks Off Boat Tease. ;)

Show ended at 10:50 and there was definitely a clamor for an encore, but unfortunately, that was that.

But fortunately, Gravity was easily an all-time version with Hard Luck and Over Exposure additionally being
top shelf.

Weather wasn\'t too much of a factor, and in fact, the rain and wind made for a nice backdrop for some pre-show
a capella renderings of America the Beautiful and God Bless America while we cruised around the Statue of Liberty.

Tremendous props to Brandon for navigating through some tough traffic on our ride there as we made it with minutes to spare.

My first-ever boat cruise and as much fun as one could hope.

from what I remember these have always been sticklers about end time, I think it may have something to do with docking times or something, I don\'t know really but they\'ve never been able to extend a show.

VERY good show tonight.  Wish it could have been two sets, but The Indobox was a nice opener.  Very Bisco\'ish.  Loved The Who cover by the way...

I was surprised as to how calm the water was .  Nice to finally meet Peaches.  And Galenas, I owe you wasabi peas.  :P

PS - Dave, can\'t wait for the pizza!

Almost didn\'t make it. Left CT at 6 pm because of my procrastination of life.  Totally should have taken the train with Elisa and crew ;)  Literally ran through the parking garage (called dave to make sure the boat was still there), sprinted down five flights of stairs, and across the docks, to be the LAST TWO people let on board @ 8:01.

I have to say, Indobox impressed me.  Elisa and I were grooving the whole time.  I will most definitely check them out again.  (Even though i was kidnapped via my hoodie for like 5 minutes by one of the guitar players....)

I just loved the whole vibe of the boat.  I have never been on anything like it (except maybe a booze cruises in the caribbean...) The energy of the packed dance floor had everyone moving planted this smile on my face.  The rain wasn\'t that bad.  It actually felt good once in awhile to have a cool breeze or get a little wet.  Can\'t believe my first time seeing the statue of liberty was like that!  (Still can\'t believe i never saw it either....what kind of american am i??)  Honestly, for me (and we know i haven\'t seen that many shows),this was the best crowd.  Everyone was into it.  Yes, it could have been longer, but i guess there was another boat show going out after we came in.

Also, loved the crew on the boat, Renee was the best....and if you don\'t know who Renee is you didn\'t get stalked by her all night like me.....

BTW,So great to officially meet you, Juliana!:)

Last night was fantastic, and to think we almost didn\'t make it!  The rain didn\'t bother me at all, and even though the show was kind of short, it really didn\'t matter since every song was great!  That was definitely the best Gravity ever, and I really don\'t care for the song either way but I loved it last night!

wow.WOW. WOW!!!!! an absolutely amazing show last night!

the band was SMOKIN\' HOT!!!! there was a point in which i was very tired of honey butter, but it was HUGE last night. solid jamming, tight transitions.... awesome...and with a Hard Luck wedged right in the middle?? epic!!!   Gravity > OE had some really dark parts but it was spectacular. i wish the show could have gone longer, but i was more than happy with the 80 minutes we got!!

props to The Indobox as well. they are a band i\'ve heard a lot about but was never able to catch.... but now I can\'t wait to see them again! they are the most electronic sounding non-electronic band i\'ve heard! and what a dance party ! i didn\'t even know the songs and i was groovin like it was my 100th show. the guys in the band are awesome, their fans are great, i hope the breakfast collaborates with these guys again real soon!!

Great energy on the boat last night... awesome times.

i did shots with her and bought her a beer.  after i ducked ordering a drink from her and she called me on it.

towards the end of world needs us i started getting very queezy and had to sit next to the garbage can with head between l;egs.  i was very dissapointed in myself for that bullshit.  first ever time i have felt sea sick.  wasnt fun.  show ruled.  glad to see the OE after it got cut from last weekends show!

She\'s lethal for those shots. I did tequila with her....it kicked me in the ass....

That totally sucks...i feel you.  i am always sea sick.  But i took dramamime last night, totally worked.  I drank with it and had no side effects..that i know of....(maybe we should ask the resident rph). i do think it got me drunk faster.  I recommend it highly for the next boat cruise, or find me on the ship, cause i\'ll have some.

good times last night! my 4th boat cruise with the breakfast and although the weather wasn\'t great, i still had a blast. we almost didn\'t make it onto the boat and i could have very easily killed us on the fdr driving down.

awesome seeing the indobox too! i\'m really glad to see them teaming up with the breakfast. my friend forest manages the band and they\'ve been psyched for the cruise. unfortunately, they will not be opening for the breakfast at the toad\'s show in july anymore, but will be at the up north fest and strange creek along with the breakfast..so jump on that wagon! also, for anyone interested in seeing them locally..there is a free show going on down in westport on june 20 at bobby q\'s! should be a lot of fun.

highlights for me were hard luck, gravity and seeing davepeck\'s bare ass multiple times throughout the night. i\'m also wondering if medusanyc was in dimension 5, 6 or maybe 7 last night..? sorry to see some pukers...

yeah..it definitely did feel way too short. sucks that scheme got cut off the setlist at the end. it would have been a great way to end the night. in the past the band has done 2 sets on the boat but with an opener and having to be back at the dock by 11pm, it wasn\'t gonna happen.

man oh man. what a blast. can\'t wait to give this show another listen (assuming/hoping it was taped).

my brother in law had a classic case of ser face ownage last night over adrian\'s playing. and i have to agree, the dude was on fire. what i loved was that the crowd literally was only like three feet from his drum set, so the energy was just overwhelming. there were times when i was like, "whoa buddy, pace yourself" but then he just kept building and building to the point where you just wanted to explode. incredible, really. blows away any drummer i\'ve personally seen live perhaps with the only exception being neil pert. that guy\'s just a machine. (love the hair cut, adrian!)

wish matt were a tad bit louder. i was standing right smack in the middle and it wasn\'t quite balanced out with tim\'s guitar. but matty o sure can set a groove. i was getting down at one point during HB, i believe, with an Indobox kid and he was really feeling matt\'s rhythmic styling (as was i)!

i forget what jam it was but there was a point when tim was doing some crazy sound effect shit that completely blew my mind.

chris was solid, as always.

amerrrrica! amerrrica! god shed his grace on thee!

wassabi!!!!

time to get new glasses...

breakfast fam unbeatable in my book! thanks for posting those photos, princess!

Very fun cruise.  Rain did not deter any energy that I could tell.  In fact, with the plastic windows all up, it got pretty hot and sweaty in that joint a few times and it felt good to retreat to the bow for some cool breeze and tasty rain.  That\'s right, I drink rain.

Right from the get go, the heavy hitters came.  Adrian was just BUILDING hard luck like crazy with HUGE drum fills/rolls/noise like thunder.  HoneyButter was much fun and definitely got my juices flowing. Get it?  World needs us was great, and I think Matt\'s singing is better than ever.  By Gravity I was gettin wasted and loving everything, but I do remember it hitting very good peaks and Overexposure throwing down SER untz so much that I was talkin shit to Zuke for missin it...

Thanks to RudeBwoy Laslo for hostin me and Geoff Mitchill, and it was a pleasure meeting you PennyRedstarChristine ( i think) and FizzleFestCraig ( i\'m pretty sure).

I\'ve also been told by like 5 strangers that I look like Julia Stiles and everyone who knows me says I don\'t, so I guess it\'s all about the angles.

She was a stray in Portugal. I kneeled down to take her photo because she was sitting up on a rock wall looking very pretty and she saw me and chirped and ran over and climbed right up on to my lap, purring. I wanted to take her home; she was really skinny but sooo sweet.

I guess it sort of does look like I\'m slitting her neck or something.

Womens\' butts > mens\' butts

No offense Fur Butt.

Is Dave gonna be the new Breakfast flasher, successor of Enraptureme\'s 2 years on the job?

Sidenote: kind of a risky move with Johnny Upstate in the vicinity  :inky:

Post by: groovinlumens on May 20, 2008, 02:22:19 pm
For all of you who wished they had played more on the boat trip and didn\'t get a chance to really get it rollin then your prayers have been answered. TWO freekin sets at a festival~!!!!  What more could the true honest B\'fast fan want?? Sterling Stage is the best little venue in the Northeast that many of you have not been to. Where else all summer are you going to get TWO SETS, outside, killer lightshows(yes that is plural because me and ellis will combine forces) and the weather is going to be perfect!! You have NO EXCUSE!!! And the fact that some of you are going to go to the show on sunday in Mass. because it is closer to your house is lame. Go ahead and go to that show and see your 7 songs in the hour long timeslot that they have!!!

In fact here is what i am gonna do!!! I have two free ticket to sterling stage. And I am not talking a day pass I am talking a weekend pass. A 75.00 value. Send me your stories, reasons why you can\'t afford it, and any other lame excuses that you can all come up with and I will pick two lucky souls to receive the free ticket!! The best story /reason will win. And if you can convince me that you will be coming with other friends who have not been there before that will increase your chances of winning the tickets.

Send all of your responses to my email groovinlumens@gmail.com The winner will be announced on thurs at high noon so get them in early. The winners will have their names on the guest list at the door so we don\'t have to worry about getting tickets to you. Good luck and can\'t wait to read all of these letters.

Groovin Lumens

Incredible show, short but amazing. honey butter and hard luck definately kicked ass as well as overexposure for sure. highlights to me include asscrack tv, the singing of god bless america in front of the statue, and the balloon party on FDR.
Thanks to the breakfast n indobox for playing a kick ass show in my shitty city.
