good show tonight, i just walked in my door (2 hour 45 minute drive, ouch!).  I LOVED the venue...it feels very good to be able to sit down when you want to.  that place had great acoustics, great lights, etc...worth the extra money.  highlights for me were tunage (i officially love this song), STL was very solid, Matts jazzy keys solo in Dig? (i think), and his rockin organ solos throughout the night (i was very very impressed with matt tonight, he took it to a level i hadnt seen him before), nice to hear EE1+2 opening cause i wanted to hear that tonight, the drunk monk bar/jam was really cool in the encore (liked the spacy sounds, very good build up), what the funk was really good (my first time hearing it live, chick dancin on stage got the rest of the crowd rowdy).

Overall it was a very good show, not the best, but def not a disappointment.  I think of all the people in the band tonight, adrian was a little off.  He missed a few key cracks by a beat that kinda threw off the sync when the rest of the band was doing a build up.  nothing major though.

it was nice to meet more of you tonight, im slowly but surely getting to know everyone not just your .info names.  Slimpickens, doc ellis, mark, marks friend and wife (names?), drew K, and it was nice to see the others that i had already met.

Conversation early in the 2nd set with the 2 45-year old patrons of the theater and their wifes (who were dancing the whole time).  All 4 of them had never heard of the band before tonight:

Me: is this your first time seeing them?
them: yeah they are awesome, especially that one on guitar
me: yeah tims my favorite guitar player of all time
them:  hes the best guitar palyer ive ever seen by far, unbelieveable.  where are they from?
me: new haven, they play at toads a lot
them: thats very good to know, we\'ll definately see them again

oh, and also, i yelled out "no glove" early on, but they didnt give me any love (pun intended).  hopefully soon ill hear it.

wow!  The energy at this venue was incredible!  I loved the 1st set more than anything else, although, Question was definitely amazing also... the whole venue was up on their feet (maybe thanks to the chicks on stage, maybe not...) Overall, the night was a stellar performance.  I\'ll definitely visit the FTC again... good names and a good venue.  This makes me really excited about the whole New Year\'s run!!!  I can\'t wait :D

What an amazing show; my first electric show with Matt in the band.

It took about two minutes to realize that Adrian was going to have an amazing night. My ear is trained well enough to say that the new drum kit made a difference, but he definitely tore it up. Escher\'s was a very welcome opener off of a Space City Affair that seemed longer than average (which may or may not be true). Matt has single-handedly turned Dig into a major highlight, and he didn\'t disappoint on this night. Tunage was epic. Tim, Matt, and even Ron got into the act trading off in a great jam. Set II almost seems like two different sets to me. See the Light, jam > What the Funk brought the majority of the crowd to their feet for good, then Grand Scheme and Question flat-out slapped us all across the face. For me, Drunk Monk was in danger of going to a very weird place (at least for an encore) but Adrian really kept it moving and turned it into possibly the best Drunk Monk ever (though I\'m recalling a 20-minute epic from an NYC show, confirmage?). Though I\'m never overly pumped to hear Vermont Song, the Wild Pack switch is always a fun way to end a show.

Overall, a great show. Thanks for the birthday wishes (and drinks). I hope you all found Circle Diner without incident. See you at Toad\'s on 12/29 if not sooner (Jake\'s next Saturday for Timmy?).

tim = pony tail.

venue, i\'d say around 65-70% full. personally, i LOVED the place. really not at all what i was expecting (smaller than i imagined), and despite there being assigned seating, people were allowed to go pretty much wherever they wanted. it was a very fun, free atmosphere. the sound and lights were great too. i really hope the band gets to play there again.

dave, nice meetin u. band sounded great as usual.  i was hoping the girl dacing on stage during \'what the funk\'  was going to try to dance through \'Grand scheme \', cuz she probably couldnt get into much of a groove to dance during that one , but luckily steve got her off the stage to save her fro embarassment..

great show.  The first set was a little weird I think everyone was just getting used to the venue.  The second set the debauchery began.  Stylistically one of the best Greg Ellis light show I\'ve seen, just looked great.  Every song was pretty much a monster.  Escher\'s was great.  Honeybutter was nice and funky.  But it was all about the WTF>Scheme>Question.  KILLER!  Great place the guys shoulod def return.

quick question. i have three versions of Tunage on disc now -- is the segment of trade-offs at the end built into the actual structure of the song? i guess ive never thought about it but it seems they do it every time and originally i just assumed it was improvised....?

ive heard it 3 times now live and every time theyve done this, so im guessing it is written in the song.

Good first set.  Esher\'s was good, but Tunage was truly great.

The second set may have been one of the best second sets I\'ve ever seen.  STL was a killer.  What the Funk was huge, but I think that Grand Scheme was just pure magic.  I really can\'t think of anything that can put it into words.  Question blew it up, and Drunk Monk was fuckin\' smokin\' from begining to end, I still don\'t know how they figured a way to bring it back from where they took it.  Something other than Vermont song would\'ve been nice but at least it wasn\'t a cover.

Very good show.  Solid first set.  MONSTER  of a second set.   Nice little place, hope they come back.

Ugh... Long day. Got home at 6:15 this morning. Holy shit.

Yeah the girls got old. Entertaining at first... but then when one is in between Ron and his mic stand so he can\'t get at it it is pretty annyoing. One song... cool. When you start interfering with the band... not cool.

Great to see everyone... Seemed like everyone was having a blast. I was in serious recovery mode. Too much beer/wine/vodka/Jager on Thanksgiving. I was happy for the seats, that\'s for sure. I really liked the venue: intimate and very relaxed. It sounded great, the lights were good, I would love to go there again. Looking at some of the names on the wall, I couldn\'t help to think what it would be like seeing Pat Metheny or Al DiMiola there. They definitely book some good names.

Great show. First set was fun; Tunage is a monster. Have to love that song. I\'m kind of sick of Honeybutter.  I was actually happy to hear IG because it has been so long. It really is a solid song, just got overplayed. Second set was pretty scorching... I have to agree with Chris about the WTF> TGSOT > Question... I was thinking the whole time how a show like this really disproves the "every TGSOT is the same" theory. Don\'t think I have ever heard such an interesting DMB, but I could be wrong. I still hate Vermont Song.

Dave, those two you were talking to who saw the band for the first time and loved them were the guys sitting to my left. Serious jerks. I\'m glad they liked the band and I hope they come back for more, but I really could have done without their snide remarks about all of the people up and dancing and having a good time. Not to mention the throwing shit at Mark with the "hey asshole down in front" comments. I mean, there was no shortage of open seats, and no one was making them stay there. They could have moved instead of being bitchy about other people having fun. Bleh. Also the guy/girl shouting a conversation  for half the show right behind Mike\'s mics. Double bleh.

Thanks for the heads up on the diner Drew. We made it. Good times. Our waitress hated us I think.

I don\'t even know what to say about Rock Band. I think my ears are still ringing.

Thanks Paul for the ride from and back to Meriden.

Also... my favorite quote of the night may have been someone shouting, when they came back on stage for the encore, "Play Question again!"

That or something about a rotunda ;)

So much crazyness last night. Props to Robyn for selling a free sticker for 0.35 cents after being belated to give him cds for free for a while. Where is drew kingsley and why doesn\'t he just magically appear when we speak his name? The waitress, I think she was just upset with her son trying to sell pictures on the internet. Fitzy slamming down the pitcher. Tunage was a monster. Best dmb I\'ve heard in probably years, wonder how they will segway back into it out of this reggea dub jam, up, just cut right back in. A little jarring. Dobs back behind the soundboard. Jen K. always knows what I\'m thinking. Funniest girl I\'ve ever met.Not to mention rock band.I suck at drums, turns out fitzy can belt out smashing pumpkin songs on vocals PERFECTLY :wah: TimmyP on the cheeseball can. Mikey nailing mettallica on guitar. What do you want to drink? Can I get some chili? You want that to drink? Well, can I get a straw also? That was spacey with the "play question again." drums sounded sick. Place has awesome acoustics, perfect seperation of instruments. what a night.

"How did the band beat us here? Oh yea, we went to that dinner."
"play Reba!" "wrong band!"

And of course, props to tangie for making it out to a show!

And didn\'t tim tease queeb in one of his tunage "solos"? Maybe I\'m hearing things, but I also thought there was a thumpasaurus tease in there somewhere too, I\'ll have to relisten (it\'s downloading now, thanks dave)

I didnt realize they were throwing shit, and i only heard them say "down in front" once so i didnt think they were all that bad.  i think they were patrons of the venue, these "middle aged folk" that someone was talking about on .info before the show, so they had probably never been to a show like that before.  yeah, they definately could/should have moved no problem.

it was tied back , but then he let it loose for the encore.

i would say there were about 80 people at the show, i may be off though.  everyone was havin a real good time.

you can take the kid out of east haven but you can\'t take the staven out of the kid!!
