Perhaps 1 of the newer places. I really need a new reason to want to go in to NYC these days. A lot cool things have been happening in Brooklyn as well but to be honest I would rather go upstate then go in to the city.

but I am not the biggest fan of the sound in either. Thats kind of a toss up. However they do have a meyers sound system in the knits main room. I just remember that now. Perhaps it wasn\'t the room but the mix. hmmmm

Trey is asking for a 5-year, $22 million deal inculding $10 million guaranteed as a signing bonus and a no-trade clause. The band is offering 3 years at $15 million with a band option for a 4th year and a more incentive based structure to the deal to incentivize Trey to stick with it.
-Greg the light tech is doing HGH.
-The Breakfast will play in NYC sometime in 2008.
-DJ Real and MC Hammer will be making appearances at this Sunday\'s acoustic show.
-GM Matt O has been shopping Ron Spears on the trading block. A deal was in place to trade Ron and The Breakfast\'s trailer to Umphrey\'s for Jake Cinninger and cash, but the deal fell through when the trailer failed inspection.
-Ownership is considering moving the band to Nashville or Sacramento.

Meh, we\'re still barbecuing in Syracuse when it\'s that cold outside.
Speaking of the booming metropolis known as Syracuse, I believe the next time the Breakfast play here it will be at a new venue. My mom\'s friend\'s daughter\'s boyfriend and I believe the promoter for Syracuse shows (Dan) bought the old Planet 505 bar. I believe they already have a liquor license and might be doing some remodeling on it. It\'s located in the heart of SU student housing and not too far from Lemoyne college. Thousands of students within walking distance. If this is true this could mean double the turnout for Syracuse breakfast shows. The venue is pretty nice and held many shows there back in its day including The Wailers and Monkeys on Ecstasy (moe.) just to name a few. Hopefully it all works out.

The Breakfast will release a new album entitled the "The Departing Arrival" for release in October 2008. All new songs will be included, all with the new bassist.
The Buquebus saga will be completed. We all might start to understand what the hell is going on.
To support the Buquebus saga completion and the new album, The Breakfast will have a 3 month national tour starting sometime in October and arriving home for NYE.

Yeah, I saw that they had shows booked which hopefully means the rumor is wrong. No money stands to be lost though; if MIT really did get the land then they spent several million on it. Thus, a couple grand from a few nights at the Middle East won\'t mean anything. MIT as the landowner would lose money with the Middle East running a club on that spot compared to if they were collecting room+board fees on a 60-unit dormitory. So MIT would really be smart to get the club closed as quickly as possible.

moe. is playing the Saranac Brewery on Friday, June 13th and Saturday, June 14th. These are the shows being referred to.
The Breakfast is scheduled to be at the Electric Company on Thursday, June 5th. I\'m guessing this show would just be dropped in favor of a two night run the following weekend.
2 night run at an Upstate venue would not be one to miss! Brittany\'s friend is getting married on the 14th so we\'d probably have to miss out on the second night, unfortunately.

Not sure if I agree with this statement. Let\'s look at the stats:
- 7 shows in 10 days
- 5 out of the 7 shows were 1 set
- They played a total of 25 songs when you remove jam and drum solo
- 20 of those songs (80%) were played 2 times or less
- The only songs played 3 times or more were Rufus, Hard Luck Harry, Taboo or Not Taboo, Inner Glimpse, and Metropolis (the last two, I\'ll agree, are overplayed)
But in those 25 songs, they played songs they haven\'t played in a while:
- Earache My Ear
- Spunk
- Indian Summer
- Scarlet Begonias (twice)
- YEM (twice)
- Episode 3 (twice)
Looking at these setlists, I think that they\'d be pretty kick-ass shows to see.

for those of you who don\'t know, jon recently suffered a very severe respiratory attack that caused him to back out of a big YES tour and now the band is touring without him. he\'s still recovering, apparently.
i could definitely see how he would be interested in the band\'s musicianship. and he is amazingly supportive of new music, especially when it\'s as pure as that of the breakfast.
i hope to god (or whatever) that this rumor is true. how cool would it be as a musician to all of a sudden get a call from jon f\'ing anderson?!!

- 31% of the songs were played 3 times or more as compared to the 20% this time around
- The songs played 3 times or more were ATSD (3), Intension (3), Psygn (3), Buquebus (4), Future Peek (4), Puppetry (4) and Rufus (4)
I think to gripe about a song being played too much is a waste of time. If you look outside of the jam band community, you\'re most likely going to get 75%-80% of the same songs every night of a tour.

I think it\'s time I share this little Ken story with .info. A few years back there was a few of us hanging out in the parking lot @ Porters during set break. We were all pretty fucked up. Spacey walks over to the dark side of the lot, I guess nature was calling... or he had to puke (you know Spacey). Next thing I know you hear him screaming, frankly like a 7 year old girl, we look over to see him getting dragged into the brush by this huge Swamp Thing like creature. It had to be huge to drag Spacey anywhere, right?! We all run to the edge of the lot and grab his arms and shirt to try to free him from this wetland creature, but it was just to strong and tore our poor friend from our grasp and into the darkness. Out of nowhere Ken comes flying in on that step ladder (you know the one he jerryrigs his recording gear to). And when I say flying, I mean this cat was like 6 feet off the ground, riding the step stool like a chariot. He plunges into the darkness and emerges moments later with Spacey on board. As his step stool chariot comes hovering to the ground and Spacey hopes off, I notice that between Kens teeth is the torn "flipper ear" of the Swamp Thing. I tried to point it out to the others, but Ken slurped it into his mouth. As he glided away, I heard him say "Mmmm, tastes like chicken."

First off it\'s your own fault for listening to the radio. Of course you\'re going to get sick of songs that you hear 732873 times a day.
The first two albums "Yes" and "Time and Word" are more prog/pop, but still contain some gems like "Every Little Thing" (Beatles cover) and "Sweet Dreams". Interesting to a hear a band of that intensity in a pop format.
Then "The Yes Album" is bloody brilliant. "Your\'s Is No Disgrace", "The Clap". "STARSHIP TROOPER" (Best Yes song), "Aventure", "Perpetual Change" ( gorgeous masterpiece... and of course your favorite song "I\'ve Seen All Good People"..
Fragile can get tiresome after awhile, but it does have "Southside of the Sky on it", which is in my Top 5 for best Yes songs.
Close to the Edge is my personal favorite and would probably be the best place for you to start off. Three songs, "Close to the Edge" (18 mins), "And You and I" and "Siberian Kharutu", all of which are composed and played with precision and ferocity that was unheard of at the time.
This was unfortunately their last studio album with Bill Bruford, as he left for greener pastures with Crimson. Bruford was then replaced by Alan White. The band released one live album with Bruford called "Yessongs", which is a great introduction to Yes IMO.
The White era starts off with Tales From the Topographic Ocean, which contains 4 songs that average 20 minutes each. A bit too much for me in terms of grandiosity and Anderson\'s voice, but still considered a montser by most Yes fans.
"Relayer" followed, which contained "Gates of Delerium" another epic 20 minute Yes song. A short, yet powerful album. The "Close to the Edge" of post-Bruford Yes.
Then "Going for the One" tends to be my favorite of White era, with more accessible rock songs and another epic called "Awaken".
This era is highlighted on a live album called Yesshows.
With some more lineup changes the band released "Tormato" and "Drama". They still rock, but pale in comparison to older Yes. After that we fall into "Owner of a Lonely Heart" era and that\'s when I get off the train... Hope you actually seek out some of these albums instead of bitching about the three Yes songs you hear 43 times a day.

Second... When I\'m driving by myself, there\'s no such thing as listening to the radio, but when you\'re driving with someone else that doesn\'t share most common interests in music, it\'s a nice compromise to listen to 104.3 or 92.3 in New York.

Thanks for the 411... I just find it odd, or I feel as though there is not much promotion put on for these guys. Since Kung Fu started they have been hardcore about promotions and going public. I realize that in years past the B\'fast was like this as well, but am I alone in feeling that there has not been as much public announcements made or promotion (aside from the members & the b\'fam) at least since the latest incarnation of the band? I do my best to promote gigs via fb, and invite new and old friends when ever there is a gig that is local. I admit I don\'t do as much for gigs that are outside of my travel range, but I\'ve taken up putting the gigs on .info as often as I can as long as I know when gigs are going to occur. Anyways... I\'m not at all trying to be negative, I just love these guys so much and as I\'m sure most of us do... I\'d love to see them catch a big break! But... without being the right promotion, I don\'t know if it will happen. I know this has probably been debated over and over through the course of the years. But it\'s never bad to bring things back to the surface sometimes...

No no. My boyfriend does vibes. I work with Jeff, and last year we had serious issues with line up leaking to shady promoters. No worries, as we are all family.....but yeah. Wait for the announcement. We worked hard to put this year together. And dont worry. You\'ll have plenty of help with the website. And by contracts I mean with the bands. Not the web guys. Seriously. The help I\'m going to need asap is a full lineup, which I assume is being wo0ked out at the moment. Press-kit photos from all the bands. And server credentials to move over the hosting, which is possibly already in my email.
In regards to announcing anything prematurely, I\'m sure nobody, including Jeff. Jeff being my client, in this situation. Could care less if I said I talked to him about Breakfast and Kung Fu doing the festival.
Actually it\'s about to be my job to make sure as many people know everything there is to know about this festival in a short matter of time. Hopefully that\'s not to be about to be a problem... I mean, Jeff just did hire one of the top advertising agencies in the country.
What makes a promoter shady, exactly? Guess I\'m lucky promoter isn\'t part of my job description.

Well, I guess. I think doing the web site, finding artists to work with, doing the posters and other printed materials, Facebook page, professional photography, etc is a pretty key role.
It\'s a little offensive to keep calling me unprofessional, honestly. I have about 300 clients at the moment, a current waiting list of over 10 clients waiting for me to work on their projects, and my work is actually in incredible demand at the moment.
Anyway I have nothing else to "leak" about the festival. Didn\'t think telling a few Breakfast fans that the band was likely going to play the festival was a big deal. I still don\'t actually.
I mean, it\'s my job to stir up as much possible buzz for the festival.
enough bickering, I hope I\'ve explained myself as well as possible. Anything else I have to say about the festival will be on the web site and other promotional materials.

What I get from this is that maybe you got lucky Tuna. If what she posts is true and the promoter thinks her total lack of professionalism in this thread was funny as well... maybe you don\'t want to work for people like that.
The facts as I see them. Bella Terra 2 bit fest that needs lots of help in web design.
You got the gig and made a post in a RUMOR thread on a board of a band not even affiliated to the fest. (Hell I have half a mind to hit pretty much every message board there is and say that band is playing the fest but that would actually give cause for someone to investigate said fest and fuck that.)
Another person employed by the people that employed you saw it and overreacted and proceeded to act very unprofessional and in doing so gave the people she works for a bad name. You either got let go as she says or you declined. Either way the fact is you will not be getting that cash specifically due to one person acting in a horrible manner.

But regardless of whatever role Lauren is playing here, I wouldn\'t let that reflect badly on the festival. I guess it\'s not a huge festival... maybe 3000 people I\'m estimating? But that\'s just about the ideal size for a festival IMO anyway.
In my talks with the actual promoter of the festival, he has been nothing but professional, and I understand the stress of putting on a festival and then having to deal with this rediculous drama. It is my clear understanding that he did not think any of this was funny, at all. Which is why I\'m trying to set the record straight and hopefully we can all move on. He is right to be pissed, although I feel like what\'s said on .info only reaches a few eyeballs won\'t affect perception of the festival at all in the grand scheme of things, I can see why he\'d be concerned.
The fact is that I did decline the job, after hearing that Lauren was trying to get me fired anyway. I was starting to have second thoughts about it as soon as Boogie began to have words with me at all. This is pretty much irrelevant, though. I would have been pleased to work for Bella Terra, I was not pleased to be in this particular position.
Anyway let\'s keep away from Bella Terra bashing. What\'s happened is no poor reflection on them at all. AFAIK Lauren is a volunteer and doesn\'t exactly represent the festival in any serious way.
That quote, in the giant quote sandwich there, is an example of one I wish I never made on the forum. I felt like I wanted to respond to Lauren, but in the end, the only satisfaction I\'ve gained is by trying to smooth over the situation and set straight any misconceptions about the festival.

I did point to the Big Up site as an example of a good festival website of the quality I think anyone should be shooting for, and which I could actually easily surpass.
