those bass runs are something that you just have to feel. I myself am a bass player and Ron definitely rips it up. Check out his work on Hot Lanta on the music page of their website....pretty close if not better than the original by Allman Bros as far as bass playing goes.

you should talk to fatboy about playing breakfast songs... he\'s got a bunch tabbed out. you two should collaborate... it may take a few minds together to figure out the great guitar mind of Mr. Tim Palmieri.
**Have you guys figured out who fatboy is yet? No one ever responded my clues...
Anyway, i\'ve played guitar for a couple years and started playing bass in a band this summer, and would love to do a breakfast cover or two....I\'m new to the bass so its not so easy for me to just pick up bass lines from listening to a cd....
So to the point of this thread: lets start up a breakfast guitar/bass/keys/skins tab section on the site. I have a few simple songs figured out for guitar but don\'t really know how to tab that well...anyone else interested?!?!

(Doesn\'t stop us sharing them between ourselves by eamil/pm though, I suppose, if it\'s just for personal use. I mean, I\'m not going to be playing in a band, but it would be nice to strum along to pb & breakfast tunes. Only worked out VT song myself)

Oh yes, something I\'ve been waiting for, for quite some time.
I have a few excerpts from a couple tunes: No Regret, Glady\'s Pimp, STL, Buquebus (obviously not too much for this one) and a few others. If I find some time I\'ll lay them out for ya\'ll. As of now I\'m working > drunk for the weekend. I\'ll start this task on mundane Monday.

Hey whats up everyone? I cannot get Mayfly out of my fucking head! I have played drums for over 20 years...I try to play guitar..and I try....anyway....lately when I drive to school I play Mayfly to excite me..I was wondering if someone could write me a guitar tab that plays out Ron\'s bass line in the intro....I think its the BADDEST shit in the world!!!!!(On a side note..has anyone seen "Im going to get you Sucka" with the Wayan Bros....At the end they talk about everyone should have a background themesong to their strut..Boogie Down Productions is their background band....if you havent seen that movie, then rent it! What I meant by that is when improvising and adding fills over that bass line play the notes in a G minor 7 scale, a.k.a. a G dorian. Here is a good website for learning chords and scales \'n\' such .http://www.looknohands.com (http://www.looknohands.com)

but the first chord voicing that is used is this:

Ant-Man, Tim usually uses major scales or pentatonic scales over the jams or when he solos.
Take the jam for Buquebus, it is in G minor. So tim will usually use G dorian (G,A,Bb,C,D,E,F) but
sometimes he\'ll use G natural minor (G,A,Bb,C,D,Eb,F), I think I\'ve actually heard him use Dorian
in the first jam and switch to Natural Minor in the second or vis versa.

No, a good ear I guess, I just graduated from Berklee, so I\'ve been studying music for years. I\'ve been a huge pb fan for years. Over the last few years I\'ve figured out almost every pb song on guitar, so I know how to play the stuff, I just haven\'t tabbed them out, so this is kinda fun. I\'ve also taken guitar lessons with Tim for the last few years as well, maybe one every year or six months. No, a good ear I guess, I just graduated from Berklee, so I\'ve been studying music for years. I\'ve been a huge pb fan for years. Over the last few years I\'ve figured out almost every pb song on guitar, so I know how to play the stuff, I just haven\'t tabbed them out, so this is kinda fun. I\'ve also taken guitar lessons with Tim for the last few years as well, maybe one every year or six months. Not enough, but seriously, it varies. Now that I\'m out of school, I find I can practice a lot more because I don\'t have to do so much school work. It\'s kind of ironic since you\'d think that a Berklee student would practice like 5 hours a day or something while in school. I found that to be impossibe since I had a job and commuted 1 hour to school 3-4 days a week. But the thing is I love to play, so if I\'m not "practicing" I\'m probably playing. Discovering PB was great for my playing, as you know Tim is a beast on the guitar. He definately inspired me to be a better guitar player. I\'d go to PB shows a few years ago and leave shocked saying to myself "wow I have a lot of work to do". Thanks for the tip on that perfect pitch site. I\'ll have to check that out. I don\'t know if you can develop perfect pitch this late in life but you can always train your ear to be better.

It\'s funny, I can transcribe music, but I find with tabs, it\'s much easier to visualize it on the fretboard. But you have to know the song.

The usual thing to jam over a spanish type jam is
l: E / / / lF/ / / GF :l or just l: E / / / lF/ / / /:l
Use E spanish phrygian. The easiest way to think about this scale is to take the three notes of the E major triad (E,G#,B) and play a 1-2-4 fingering off every note. It gives you the spanish phrygian scale without having to really think about every note you\'re playing.
So you can play off every E chord you know.

No prob man. Yeah that is a tough one to get down. Timing is everything. Another thing to think about is that Tim doesn\'t usually play it the same every time, he\'ll thrown in different fills and improvise around the basic structure. The version I tabbed out was from 99 (from the archive).

Yeah there is a great program called Band in a Box, just search it in google. You can download the demo. It lets you type in the chords and you can select the tempo and style of the tune. You can do a lot more with it but I\'ve only scratched the surface with the program.
