Title: Real Radio Retail issues
Post by: Steffmo on March 21, 2005, 03:37:29 pm
For those of you that don\'t know...retail marketing for a record by a small band is very tough, very competitive.

If you are near a Tower, Virgin, Bullmoose, Coconuts, FYE, Strawberries, Camaelot, CDWherehouse check to see if they have it.  If not, see if they will order it....

Let us know what you find....we can market the stores that don\'t have the CD.

Went in a Virgin and a HMV store over here in the UK and they didn\'t have it, though amazon.co.uk are listing it not as an import but as a regular UK release. Next time I\'m in town, will ask. It can\'t help to make enquiries over here; I might strike it lucky and find a shop  assistant who\'ll order it in and give it a listen.

You can just about get the later Phish albums over here and the odd panic disc, but that\'s about it. "Classic Rock", a British music mag, did review the Umphreys album, though. Am just glad I had my source to get a copy of RR already.

fye.com has it for $12.99, and its one of the top three when you search for The Breakfast (thought that was pretty cool). HERE (http://shop.fye.com/product.aspx?sku=63950858&loc=50244). Although buying it from amazon.com helps out Dave. . .

we have a privatly owned music store here in Aberdeen, South Dakota that got 4 copies in and can get as many as you\'d like for just under $15.  They sold the last one yesterday and ordered more that will be in tomorrow.  Sam Goody of course doesnt have it here.  The only other places to buy music locally are Target, Walmart, Kmart, & Shopko.

They had two or three copies at the Strawberries in Providence, which I found shocking, although I shouldn\'t have.

They had one copy at Newbury Comics in Boston.  Shocking!!
Title: Newbury\'s
Post by: Steffmo on March 26, 2005, 09:37:31 pm
Newbury Comics took in I think 90 copies for all the stores.  If you think of it...find out how many  a store has when you are there......it will help us judge how they are moving.
Title: Virgin Boston
Post by: Steffmo on March 26, 2005, 09:39:51 pm
We are getting a listening station at Virgin in Boston.....if this proves successful we might do more, but they tend to be pricey.  if any of you are there....please check it out and let me know how it looks and if they have stock.  They took 10 for the store, which is pretty good.

I\'m hoping RR does well in Boston, its shaping up as a Breakfast town.

Boston better become a major Breakfast hotbed.

Listening stations sound good.  I\'ve been buying music from bands that I\'ve never heard of strictly from listening to 30 second samples on amazon.com.

Bullmoose ordered copies for the stores.  That store either sold theirs or was left out.  They should be able to get it no problem.

So i just bought my 2nd copy from Tower and as they only had one I had them order 3 more(limit) for each store which equals 6 copies. My concern over a skip in TGSOT is gone as the new copy is pristine.I will not play it in my old cd player for sure.lol

I am down in Long Beach for the weekend but hear that my Real Radio copy finally arrived via amazon.com the other day.  I\'ll check for skipping in TGSOT as well.

How many copies are you planning on ordering?

I may actually purchase more in the near future as gifts for people.

I ordered 6 in all. I will probably buy 3-4 of them. I plan on doing the same as you and hand them out as gifts.

although ive heard the song 6 billion times, i was listening to 10/2/04  in Baltimore courtesy Radio Joe and Tim announces the\' Chase\' as being on Real Radio. i think it would have fit well in the scheme of things. a catchy one..maybe they didnt want to have to pay royalties to Peck since he was a part of the song\'s origins!?

the chase was recorded but they decided not to put it on the album because it didnt fit very good in with the other songs.

2 copies of R.R. at the Virgin Megastore on Market Street in S.F.  I\'m going to make a friend of mine buy one.
Title: Winston Salem options
Post by: Steffmo on April 02, 2005, 01:46:05 am
Best Buy, Target, Circuit City, Wal Mart and similar super high volume places will not have RR at this time.

Transworld stores such as Camelot, FYS, Coconuts, Strawberries should have them.  I\'m not sure which or those Winston Salem has.  Mom and Pops also get the record through Alliance (AEC) on stop or from Homegrown Network.

If you still have problems Amazon is always an option, or http://www.homegrownmusic.net

HMG doesn\'t control Deuce....although I do speak to them on occasion.  Same with Bona Fide.

As day to day manager Alex tries to keep them on top of this....but Sonance is semi inactive right now....which means they don\'t care all that much.

What I MIGHT be able to do is buy some product from soanace and make it available through the HMG Store...which will be up in a week or so.

I do think you can get Deuce and Bona Fide through a disclogic download.

We are working on the iTunes thing as well.

This will be resolved shortly.  We are trying to get a much bigger distibution deal for yhe breakfast, and having a deal in place for downloads makes that harder.  Soon though.
