I missed a MGMT cover?????!!! WHAT?!?!?! Please please please, I ask of you... do it again during the April residency, boys. Please.
And I agree with you, Leith. I totally dig the The Doors encore. :) I smirked as soon as I read that!
-
hot damn!! nice!
-
whatcha wanna know??
Uhuh yes I taped it and it sounds pristine as fck so that\'ll be coming atcha probably later tonight after I sort through photographs and get to tracking it all out.
That was easily the best Breakfast show I\'ve seen in some time. One of those nights where it didn\'t matter what they played it was just all rediculous. But they also played several of their most serious songs (Existential Funk, Tunage, Synergy... and a seriously proper GLADYSPIMP).. in the most serious fashion. Everything about the evening, in fact, was so serious, that it ripped a hole in the time space continuum so that it was also incredibly rediculous at the same time.
Parallel universes existing side by side, wo0ked out beautifully.
All the new songs were totally slayed and definitely are here to stay.
-
Looks like an amazing evening. Bummed I missed it!
Tuna - nice job on the tapage. Looking forward to that!
Tim, happy birthday brother! Hope it was a great one.
-

haha... this was my 1000th post!

Now that I\'ve listened to this show a couple times.. tracking it out and then enjoying it once again afterwards..
Ahead of Your Doom ... bass is gnarly as possible and I love the way the jam progresses.. last night was a super strong performance for such a new song
Time to Pretend... Chris and Tim sound fantastic doing the vocal harmonies on this. Really uplifting stuff. Guitar sounds amazing as well. The song sounds somewhat familiar to me but I never really listened to MGMT. Either way they killed this cover and I love every second of it.
Shotgun Butterfly... first couple times I heard this I was lukewarm about it.. then it got better.. last night was the best I\'ve heard and it made a ser opener.
Blessing in the Skies.. gets better every time they play it
The Grobe.. I don\'t really know a damn thing about Ween except they wrote Roses are Free. haha. Sounded good last night and I assume they probably slayed it compared to the original version.
Silver Bullet.. last night proved this song is serious business. I was previously not so sure.
Gravity has been one of my favorites since the debut. Existential Funk is a masterpiece. Honey Butter rages. Synergy is epic. Gladys Pimp is practically their most serious song and I was super thrilled to see them bust out a rediculous rendition with heavy emphasis on the high octane funk.
Break on Through (To the Other Side)... obviously the band is intent on playing some Doors so at least this is one of their better songs.
Think I got it all..
-
didn\'t even see Gravity when i first read the setlist. shit. hurry up and upload that shit tuna. no time for small talk.
-
dude it\'s been uploaded for like 5 hours now. See the thread in "Score".
-
i can only read one thread a day without having information overload.

or more likely misinformation overload around here..
Zuke I\'m sure you\'re right. I will make a point to getting around to that soon.
-
show download success !! and its about time they started playing some ween i can foresee a real good relationship happening between the two of themz
-
Huge "Low Spark" tease in EFunk. I would have been yelling for them to do it!
-
I have only gotten through the first set so far, and it is good! Its exciting to see some new tunes appearing in the setlists these days. The fellas will have quite an album on their hands pretty soon. I am eagerly anticipating something that Jordo will be singing lead on.
Anyhoo, Shotgun is a great song and keeps getting better. it works very well as opener or closer or encore. Well, it probably would rip just about anywhere in the set. Blessing is excellent. Love those changes! ExFunk contains a really nice jam, the guys are trying some new things out and the results are good!!!! Silver Bullet has ser potential. I like what I\'ve heard so far.
I like Ween but don\'t know too much about them. I did get to catch them live a few years back at the urging of my girlfriend and they were great! I need a few more listens to the Grobe but it sounded pretty good.
Over the weekend I was thinking about the show and wishing I could be there and Honey Butter was the one song I knew was going to appear. And Merge is so delicious when combined with honey and butter :scooby:
Hope to get into set 2 today. Damn i need to see a show!
-
That\'s six straight Upstate shows with Synergy and/or Tunage.
2/26 - Utica - Synergy and Tunage
11/26 - Albany - Tunage
9/18 - Sterling - Synergy and Tunage
8/05 - Ghent - Synergy and Tunage
6/19 - Ellicotville - Synergy
6/18 - Ellicotville - Tunage
"The cheese is old and moldy. Where is the bathroom?"
Outside of that this setlist is jam packed with newer songs/covers. Thanks for recording!
-
tunage & synergy are pretty much staples for the band right now. there is a good chance you will get em at any show not just upstate.i am so excited about the new t00ns right now they are monsters with ser potential. Dangletunes pwn
-
big ups on recording tuna. thanks a lot. cant wait to listen.
ween and mgmt bust-outs? fuckin ridiculous. especially the grobe.
and always excited to hear a freshy tunage. whole set looks nasty.
-
listened to part last night....not a fan of the ween cover, or vocals in ahead of your doom, but the jam was good. I dig silver bullet the best out of the new tunes, just hope every show doesn\'t have as many new songs in it as this one did, need to slowly put them in, keep the old stuff that people know and love in regular rotation.
-
I like hearing the new stuff in heavy rotation, at least for a few shows. The new stuff changes rapidly and sounds fresh each time, while the kinks are worked out. I\'d guess they\'ll reduce the ratio of new:old songs when April residency starts, but the first show of that is fools day, so who knows what\'ll happen ;)
-
agreed. its great to hear the new songs evolve. hearing a chunk of the first handful of Existential Funks and now hearing it today, that song took a nice journey.
-
The Grobe.. I don\'t really know a damn thing about Ween except they wrote Roses are Free. haha. Sounded good last night and I assume they probably slayed it compared to the original version.
i have a patented ween mix i\'d love to share with you if our paths ever cross again... glad to share it with you and enlighten you to the unparalled, epic force that is ween, as the mix has done for oh, so many lost souls....
.... been a long time since i\'ve made a .info post but had to come out of hibernation to give props for the ween bustout..... glad to see some tasteful covers coming into rotation..... ;)

Which raises the question, will our paths ever cross again?
You should come to Acoustic Cafe, where I will gladly grab a Ween mix and play it on the car ride home :)
