early start but what time can they play until?

The Engelman Recital Hall is a beautifully appointed classic recital hall with 174 seats and intimate, raked seating. The hall houses a Steinway Concert Grand piano, which can be used as part of the rental. The stage is 23\' x 14\' with a blond hardwood floor. A Strand mini-board offers eight preset cues, and recording within the space is possible. With near-perfect acoustics, it is a true gem.

Baruch\'s generic contract says they have to be finished with load out by midnight.

If Jordan gets within 10 feet of that piano it will start playing itself in anticipation ;)

Nice Pic!

Note to everyone: The address listed in the first post is for the main building, not the building where the band will be performing.

Quote
The Engelman Recital Hall and Nagelberg Theatre are located in the 55 Lexington Avenue building, with access available on the East 25th Street between Lexington Avenue and 3rd Avenue

I probably won\'t be able to get to the show until 9:30 so I am really hoping they play until 11 at least. Even if they don\'t this band is worth it.

yep....very interesting crowd.  i think there was a family or two with kids there, as well as some older couples and possibly tourists probably looking for some jazz on a thursday night.  at least it started out that way.  i think some might have left after a little while but i didnt look back enough during the show to tell when.  other than that it looked like there were maybe 20 or 25 students that looked about 18-20 years old and they were all really into it.  the recital hall was actually a really cool place to hear them play.  the description of an "intimate venue" was pretty accurate.

they played one great set for slightly over 2 hours and definitely played a huge variety of styles for everyone.  i always suck at remembering setlists from the night before, but i think they started off with shotgun butterfly and then synergy.  i forget the order of the rest, but there was a great cut me some slack, a really sick puppetry, and a blessing in the skies.  highlight for me was eschers 3&4.  the set ended with a crazy tunage complete with drum solo, bass solo, and a homework solo by jordan which was the most hilarious thing all night.  encore was question.

overall it was a pretty awesome thursday night i would say.  it definitely was an interesting experience seeing them at this type of setting, which is pretty different from the usual bar show.  the stage was really nice and it definitely seemed as though the band were on display as an art exhibit of some sort.  got the feeling that most people there had not heard of them before or maybe had seen them once or something, but they were all dancing and into it for the whole set so that was really cool.  it was a very fun atmosphere and the band killed.  adrians solo felt close to about 10 min and was insane at times.  pretty good for a thursday night :)

good stuff. thanks for the review.

homework solo? i\'ve seen him play a setlist solo, where he blew on the piece of paper that the setlist was on to get a kazoo-like effect going. was it similar to that, or was he doing some calculus problems on an overhead projector?

haha no, it was the kazoo effect.  it was a solid 2-3 min of it.  sounded awesome.
