I have never heard girl talk, but if this is some sort of musical battle thread, i would say its laughable at best.
If you would have taken 5 minutes to read the linked article instead of just knee-JERK reacting, you\'d realize how out of sorts your gut was about the intent of this thread.
Wolfie, you\'re a master of the show review and a damn good writer. PS - bravo to some tasty pics by Steve Benoit.

i liked the article, but honestly, the mashup of mmw vs. gt didn\'t make a lot of sense in context of the review. i guess in showing the juxtaposition of two performances at the same venue, but i would have rather had more mmw analysis/discussion than the girl talk stuff. but, well written as always!

Thats whats great about the internet, just quick skim of topic, and then rant away based on preconcieved assumptions about what you think the piece is about based on a sentence or two.........and i cant read.

But in all seriousness, if there is one real criticism to give this show, it is that Chris Wood did not touch the upright bass the entire night. Unacceptable. This is the equivalent of going to Phish if Trey Anastasio only sang and didn’t play guitar, or going to a Celtics game and Paul Pierce only played defense. Come on, Chris! The thing is sitting right there; pick it up one time!

Yes. Except I don\'t bookmark any sites. And music critic sites besides Jambase are for hipsters :D .. and even that one sucks most of the time..
As far as hipster-style music review sites and articles go, melophobe doesn\'t look too bad. Seth\'s writing has always been interesting enough for me to finish the article.

Yeah cuz Tim, Adrian, Chris and Jordan constantly tell us how "fabulous" their work is. Being excited about something you create is different. Wanting people to hear or read something you\'ve created is different. If Seth simply said, "check out my article" I\'d read it with a different approach. But I don\'t want to hear how great it is from the source himself. Whatever.

I think he was just being cheeky about it. I doubt he goes home and compares his articles to the Bible, in terms of which may be a more classic and influential piece of writing, or anything ;)

I was wondering that myself. Maybe the pics are from a different night.
I can\'t explain this one either. The photog was definitely there that night and I doubt he used or owns any other MMW photos that aren\'t from this show. But I stood right there and watched the whole show from start to finish and I have it right there in my second set notes: "Still no upright" and then he didn\'t pick it up. I can\'t explain it. Oh well! I probably blew that one.
And yes, MMW vs. Girl Talk is about as congruent an analogy as Maya Angelou vs. Michael Crichton, or Phil Mickelson vs. New Orleans Saints but it sure makes for a good thread title:)
