Post thoughts on why attendance is down at CT. shows. There were many discussions going on at Daniel St. as to why the crowd was so low.

- People have moved out of the area
- People are not coming from UMass to see shows anymore
- People have family that take priority
- People are into other bands
- People are not happy that Jordan and Ron have left the band
- The crop of fans that were in their 20\'s when the band started are now in their 30\'s and they do other things with their time than go to bars on the weekend.
Just some thoughts off the top of my head.

last night was one of the biggest doooze shows i\'ve seen in ct--yet it was probably one of the best shows i\'ve seen since chris and matt joined the band. the guys were so fucking on top of it last night that it\'s frustrating to know how so few people were there..

i remember the daniel st show almost a year ago (9-14 (http://www.thebreakfast.info/forum/showthread.php?t=10492)) being pretty packed but that was after the summer vacation/break from college time had already ended..
Too many CT shows. Period.

Speaking as a 41 year old married guy with 3 young kids,... (Yoda\'s point #3) I wish I could attend more shows myself, but there are only so many times I can get out and be "irresponsible."
Not sure about the under-promotion (never seen any, although I want one of those hats!) or over-saturation (is there such a thing as too much Breakfast?) issues. Sounds like there\'s a lot of history there. Same with Ron and Jordan. Band makeups change over the years, and Tim and Adrian are still the heart and soul from my perspective--but I wasn\'t listening a few years ago. Chris and Matt have jumped right in. The band seems like they\'re firing on all cylinders. The recent lightly-attended shows sound great.
From a purely selfish perspective, the more shows the band play, the better chances I get to see or hear them--if only courtesy of Fitzie, Peck, and Zappa. It would be great if more money ended up in their pockets for their trouble, but I don\'t know too much about the business side of running a band or even who\'s involved in that.
Hopefully, the guys are still enjoying their art and make enough dough at it to make it worth their while.
There\'s another aspect that not many people "get" The Breakfast, but that\'s probably another topic.

as someone who turned 30 this year i still love this band and all and i really echo the last statement.
i don\'t want to really go to bars on weekends up here, let alone 3 hours away, get home at 5-6am and then throw away the rest of the weekend.
i did a ton of partying and music going this year, i enjoy chilling, waking up before noon, hanging out with people who live 5-10 minutes away, and doing stuff outside. other than moe.down, the rest of the year i\'m just gonna chill and go to what\'s convenient for me and my close friends/family situations.

All you can do is continue to make it to as many shows as possible and do a little promo when you can.
maybe the reason kids are not coming to shows is that they come on .info and find out the fan base is full of big bitchy bithes. ;) that was a joke.

don\'t shoot me, i was just reiterating that brilliant statement from the first page. This is the number one reason I hear from non Bfam Breakfast fans. At this point it\'s beyond laughable, and now starting to seem absolutely pathetic and pointless. It sucks too because musically this lineup IMO has been the best and has the potential to bring a lot of amazing music to a lot of people.

i think its 2 MAIN things...
1. Ron and jordan are not in the band anymore
2. (which is in essence part of 1): most of the original fan base (that is now in their late 20\'s/30\'s, yet another point), are from new haven proper and originally somehow through the grapevine knew the band. Now everyones older, the band isnt the same hometown crew band anymore, and that "vibe" isnt there anymore.
I mean, just ask most of the people who have been there from the start (and the ones who have clearly stopped going since jordan, then even more since ron left).
The REAL test for the breakfast will be if they can get out on the national jamband scene and really wow the crowd that doesnt yet know them. START FRESH, dont worry about booking shows in new haven area just because you know there will be that home crew who will go to every show....unfortunately, as everyone can see, that is not there anymore!
from what i have gathered in my short time here, the breakfast rode WAY too long on their hometown following. and it was GREAT for a while (hey, who wants to travel when you can pack 1000 shows into the northeast and get good crowds for almost every one?). Now it is a reality check because a lot of the originals arent into it anymore (for whatever reason, there are MANY as i stated before).
go out, tour, find new people. and you old timers, tell young kids how cool the breakfast are, they will come. its the only way the band will keep rolling.

I\'m from Mass so coming down to CT to see them like I used to all the time costs way more now than it did a couple of years ago. It\'ll probably costs me like 50 bucks in gas alone.

If blur your eyes and you use the up and down arrows on your keyboard and scroll back and forth over that really long message you can start to see patterns in the words. Do it for long enough and the patterns start forming a message. Keep doing it and the message becomes clear.

are you sure that\'s a joke? There may be some truth in that statement. On Friday I was talking to some long time fans at the Daniel St. show and they seemed to think this is part of the problem. Some people think many fans have gotten chased away from the band by the negative vibe that starts on this forum. The harassment can be brutal sometimes and the how many times can people defend someone by saying, "oh they\'re really a good person and they mean nothing by their comments".
The rule should be: state your opinion (because everyone has the right to) but skip the brutal attacks on people who don\'t agree with you.

a lot of people who go to the breakfast don\'t even read this forum. also, if you like a band, and don\'t go see them because a few people you\'ve never met were jerks to you on the internet, then you\'re a giant loser and should stay home anyway. ;)
look at say, the biscuits message board. if this philosophy were true they wouldn\'t have any fans at all. ;)
if they like the band enough to find the band\'s message board, i don\'t think that \'randoms\' being jerks will be an issue.
