trend phrases in sports talk

seems like there is a new one each year. i hear MANY sports analysts on tv and radio saying "having said that" while trying to link to ideas together. i realize this is a proper way to speak, but it seems like they make a point to use the phrase. has anyone else noticed this? at first i thought i was just going crazy (i question myself constantly) but I have heard some of them saying it two sometimes even three times while still trying to make the same point. it\'s seriously like it\'s becoming a trend while talking about sports. odd... listen for it next time you\'re listening to sports radio.

randy johnson is an old hick, having said that, he\'s a big asshole, having said THAT, he can eat a bag of dicks.

Yeah she\'s the best dog around. And definitely my best buddy. Right now she is laying on the couch behind me. I\'m n the floor; she kicked me off the couch.

That must be tough dealing with the diabetes. I have known plenty of completely blind dogs who have done really well; just had to be careful not to startle them. But dogs hear so well, startling them is harder than you\'d think....

Bichon Frises have really cute faces....

My dog would be cuter if she wasn\'t constantly poking my ear with her cold, wet nose. Damnit Sadie!

But back to the thread topic... I am always amazed by how inarticulate sports analysts/broadcasters/announcers, whatever you call em, can be. Considering their job is to explain things....

some of them, hate them or not (joe buck, john madden), are really good with play by play analysis. but when it comes time to look back on the game, they are completely worthless.
