I: jam > Cut Me Some Slack, The Sound > Over Exposure, Echidna\'s Arf (Of You) > The Vermont Song > May Fly Disarray
II: Metropolis > Tunage, Rufus, Buquebus, Living Daylights jam > The Chase
-
how long was the second set?
-
yowsers
-
Great show! Well worth the drive from Burlington. Got there just before 11 during the sound and they played until 1-1:30. Two solid sets at an awesome venue.
-
Absolute sickness!!!!
Setlist addition:
after Buquebus, Living Daylights tease jam >> The Chase to close the show.
This weekend showed me that this is my favorite and definitely the baddest band in the land!
I think I heard a Foam riff in there somewhere too.

And that second set looks ser.

that is a monster second set.

70 minute queeb.

70 minute queeb.
that\'s pretty damn hot.
-
70 minute queeb.
that\'s pretty damn hot.
haha, the queeb was more like 30 minutes but with the lead in from rufus it def felt like a 70 min jam. The java barn is one of the chillest venues i have ever attended. The green room was all sorts of fucked when we left. def need to book some more shows there.
i think the best way to start any show is a heady jam>cut me some slack. always gets the room off on the right foot. i had not heard the sound in a long time but it was very well placed, great bass jam leading right into OE were the bass just got even more ridiculous. Arf>vermont song>may fly... all song i have not heard in a while and they were all fucking great.
I dont remeber much after grabbing two 30\'s during set break, but i know it was Epic! doozy for anyone who didn\'t make the drive.
thanks for the hospitality Booze, and thanks for driving Ellis.

Absolutely unreal. Over 150 in the house with everyone getting down HARD. The entire place was spun and the energy bouncing back and forth between the band and crowd was electric. Absolute mayhem all night topped off wth the upstate anthem; living daylights. Id call it more a jam than tease since it existed on its own. TRB in full effect with a little help from some crazy gypsies. I could not have asked for a better way to cap off my tenure jn the northeast, and if the bamd plays here again anybody that calls themselves a breakfast fan should make the trek. I cant think of many places that rival the java barn in serness
-
i\'m sorry greg ellis. gonna miss you bro
-
looks like a killer night, sucks i missed it...boozie got a review for me?
-
yeah after he wakes up from his nap...

-

and i got goose bumps
sounds like it played out well- wish i coulda been there!
-
after the reaction of those who posted and what they played, why would a review even be necessary?
-
g00d fuckin timezzz br/\\h!! prolly the nuttiest OE i\'ve ever heard.. hetty rufufs followed by a queeb!?!? can\'t ask for to much more.. sick shit kiddies.. living daylights jam was the icing on the cake... almost!! good to see all as always... :inky:
-
i\'ll maybe post a review later. this show was the serest ser biz.
"Let \'em breathe!"
-
Buse?

I can\'t wait to buy a recording device to tape these kind of shows!
Gfunk, very cool meeting you!
Vassillios, will let u know when I\'m travellin\' to the next show.

The Westcott was def the better show musically. The jams were totally off the wall and went crazy type 2 places but were still all ridiculously tight and tasteful and driven. The crosseyed and painless jam was so seamless it was beautiful. The DWD riffs and the sections in between were crisper and livelier than Trey has ever played them. Java was fun but nothing too adventurous musically. Just your typical straight forward rage fest and 30 minute upstate queeb (what is that 5 in a row now since last year?). The crowd ate it up and as far atmosphere goes, NOTHING...ABSOLUTELY NOTHING beats the java barn!!! If you have never been there you really just do not understand and wont till you go there. I hope this band goes on forever because it’s simply the best live music ever. I would not trade the last two nights for an entire tour of phish or the dead or bisco in their prime. The breakfast is just infinitely more entertaining and thrilling and fulfilling to me than any other music. See you all again as soon as I can.

NOTHING...ABSOLUTELY NOTHING beats the java barn!!! If you have never been there you really just do not understand and wont till you go there.
I\'ll bet it\'s an awesome venue, however Butterfield will always hold the 1 spot.

Never been to the Butterfield but The Java Barn probably gives it a fair fight. We were told by the students who ran the place that the cops never show up on campus, which the barn is right in the center of, and public safety would not be stopping into the show. or as i like to say "no ID required"
on a side not, my friend just told me that Phish payed law enforcement to confiscate drugs from there show goers. I didn\'t believe it, but then i looked it up. it all adds up. sad.

Yeah, but Butterfield is the only place that you can put blow up mattresses down, dress up like Hulk Hogan and wrestle at set break the day before Wrestlemania. And where else does Darth Vader show up for a Psychedelic Breakfast show?

Yeah i guess, if that\'s your thing. We were more interested on keeping our cheap beer stash plentiful during set break, and trying to hit on cute college girls. But yeah wrestle mania is still cool, right? NOT! Maybe back when ECW still existed, and people wern\'t just being a bunch of hoo haas with a plot. Tell you what, ill go to the next Butterfeild, you go to the next Java barn and we\'ll talk then. Bra

In observance of the ragers played on 3-30-2001 and 4-1-2000, PB is playing a 2-night Butterfield run tonight (3/31) and tomorrow (4/1).

You don\'t get it do you? I\'m not trashing Java Barn, but you obviously have little respect for Butterfield Hall. It was the site of the first Psychedelic Breakfast show and a total of 9 monumental shows (including 2 that were played at Baker Quad). Those shows solidified PB/TB and brought in the early fanbase from UMass and the surrounding area (ala - Wolf and Al Z). We were all college students (or not that far removed) back then, so we can understand "keeping the beer stash plentiful" but it wasn\'t designated to setbreak only. And yes, there were plenty of cute college girls there (some were even displaced jersey girls)... Is WWE or Wrestlemania cheesy (of course it is), but who didn\'t grow up watching Hulk Hogan, Rowdy Roddy Piper, Macho Man, the Junkyard Dog or the Ultimate Warrior... And was the wrestling on blow up mattresses cheesy, no, it was fun. When was the last time the band interacted with the fan like that? Anyone? It may have been in poor taste for me to squeeze my fat ass into red spandex or to drop $150 on a Darth Vader costume. And it might have been cheesy when two friends dress up like Bluntman and Chronic. But you know what, we were having fun and those were shows that fans remember and will remember. Do you think that 5 years from now, fans are going to say "remember that Java Barn show" - I hope they do, but if you weren\'t at any of the Butterfield shows, you can\'t really knock them.
Do a search on Butterfield and look at all the stories posted about that place...

St00pid to try and compare these 2 venues. Obviously Butterfield has a lot of PB history and will always be the home of the Psychedelic Breakfast. Just peep the lyrics to Honey Butter. The thing is, they no longer have shows there. Java Barn is like the new Butterfield. All you oldschoolers who have fond memories and nostalgia for Butterfield/Baker, GO TO THE NEXT JAVA BARN SHOW. I will even wrestle if you want (no homo).
-
who the fuck cares about butterfield or your bullshit theories and ramblings yoda! nobody! your constant NJ banter and living in the past is just that..... the past. sorry you can\'t relive your glory days on the football field but that\'s your choice. you can do whatever you want....
-
Okay, so butterfield doesn\'t mean shit anymore... bite me...
-
it doesn\'t.... they are not PB anymore. the legacy is gone!

Anybody notice something about this Java Barn... Maybe that it\'s at a college? Hey- so was the Butterfield dorm. Can something be learned here? No? Ok. Nevermind then.
DW- Yoda=Al Bundy

If that\'s how you feel about it, then so be it...
To me, PB and TB will always mean the same band (just a different name).
- The band officially changed names on 2/25/04 (press release)
- Nearly 72% of the bands original tunes were written while the band was Psychedelic Breakfast
- With the current line-up since Jordan re-joined the band on 12/19/08, 58% of the tunes written during that era were played; 51% played in the 10 shows this year; 25% played this weekend
If they are not PB anymore, then they should only play songs written as TB with the rare occasion of a PB song. That would leave you with the following originals:
No Regret, Fresh Cut, Good Things, Psygn, Episode 3, Honey Butter, Surreal Radio, OE, Intension, Future Peek, Tricky Ways, Rust, Tunage, A New Beginning, EE 3&4, The World Needs Us, The Sound, The Message, Rush, Synergy, Living Daylights, Reel Time, Infrequently Asked Questions.
Do you really want to go down that road? I agree that it\'s not the same band, but to say that the legacy of PB is gone, well, as a fan of the band, you might as well bend over and stick your head up your own ass.
End rant...

Absolutley. The smaller colleges shouldn\'t be ignored. Nor should weekdays. A Wed-Sat night run would be interesting. Weeknights work just fine for college kids. It even eliminates any suitcase factor. Keep the schools somewhat close, and encourage kids to follow to the next gig. Runs like could really make the regional thing work, and build a fan base.
But I\'m beating a dead horse here. For whatever reason, this won\'t happen.

in my opinion, it\'s because they are entering their 30\'s and have wives and or kids and deserve better than what they are getting (such as playing college dorms) dont get me wrong i think their fan base will grow a ton but i just dont think they will do it anymore based on all the risks involved

Once again yoda, your inability to function on the same plane of thought as ghe rest of us makes you sound like an ass. Everyone remembers nd respects the greatness that was butterfield, but your incessant ranting leads to others sarcasm leads to more nonsense from you and so on. Why must something good today be compared to something good yesterday? Sorry you had to get old and your missing out these days, but for those who are real fans still making the effort, let em enjoy what theyre experiencimg now. It aint 2001, much has changed, deal with it.

Which Butterfield show was this? If it\'s the one I\'m thinking of, I\'m somewhere in that picture, but you wouldn\'t be able to see me, I was on the floor somewhere. Floored by the music and the fact I had some sort of very painful infection in my left eye that I really thought was gonna make me blind in that eye. I drove up alone and my brother drove my car back even though he was completely against me being there.
Chances are, it\'s not the show in the picture though.

Alright clearly this has spun into some Ser bullshit. Yoda, in no way am i saying you are any more or less of a fan then anyone else, except maybe for some shady newbs. Like that kid at the barn who was smoking crack and talkin jubberish. I digress. I don\'t blame anyone for not coming to any of the upstate shows either but, that does however entitle us to a little ball busting. There is no need to cause a feud in the fantastic network that is the breakfast family. have you all read, http://www.melophobe.com/articles/this-is-not-normal-behavior/, because i think wolfman got it perfect. So lets all just enjoy this awesome band and hope they play any and every show they can book. Lastly, java barns better! haha.

what risks? seems pretty legit and def. very possible. I would much rather see them at colleges than at Sully\'s, IH, millstreet etc. (although i will try and be at those as well).

First time I saw PB was @ Hobart College. I had no idea who they were but Gladys Pimp sure kicked ass. They played a bar in town a few weeks later and I was hooked for life.
So yeah, college gigs ;)

After a great night\'s sleep at boozer\'s(thanks again man!) we hit the road bound for Canton. I love the north country. There is something special in the air, without a doubt. I love going up there and I hope the band decides to play there again.
What a great deal those kids have going on up there. I would be so stoked if I went there. live dank music almost every night of the week, fo\' free!
Like the pied pipers of rock n\' roll that they are, the first few notes and rhythmic currents drew the kids in from the wilds of St. Lawrence and soon enough the room was full and digging it!
A great groove jam started us off into an awesome CMSS. The Sound was purrfect. Hadn\'t heard this one in a minute and it was good! The room was grooving to the sounds and the band looked like they were having fun.
I was hanging on every note and trying to keep up. Tina must of noticed my intense concentration and asked me, "who\'s leading the jam right now?" Well it was Jordan at this particular moment and damn man, its good to see you back behind the boards. Driving the zamboni. Well, this became a little game throughout the night to pick out who was leading the jam at that moment.
The homebrews were kicking and the second set lived up to the headiness of the first set with a barrage of jams of ridiculous sickness. I loved the juggle in Tunage where the boys passed the hat around and traded licks. Pretty cool.
Funny, I was just reading a thread about the team Queeb vs. team Rufus thing. So sweet to get them back to back and ripping taboot.
The Chase, the chase, I love the chase.
This lineup has limitless potential. I love it. I can\'t wait for my next road trip. A Breakfast adventure.
Upstate loves the Breakfast!!
