Fonghoulish Freakout 7 Theme: Star Wars

Set  I = Episode I: Happy
Set II = Episode II: Mooboo\'s Voodoo
Encore = Episode III: Awakening

Intros (see 2 posts down) were projected onto two screens on stage before each episode. The band played the 20th Century Fox Theme and the Star Wars Main Theme along with the first two intros. The Episode III intro was just the scrolling text of the story lead-in, which was shown with a delay loop at the end of Mooboo\'s, during the encore break.

* from the \'Star Wars\' movies; first time played.
** with bass solo; Jordan on lightsaber during bass solo;
^ Adrian played drums with 2 lightsabers at one point.
^^ jam only; under 1 minute; band then decided to do HLH before ending Mooboo\'s because they still had a lot of time.
# first time played.

Episode I
Happy

Space City is happy. Buquebus and Gladys Pimp have freed the planet from
King Folix\'s oppression. By putting Black Domino in the Breakfast processor,
they opened everyone\'s mind to think and act for themselves.

The people rapidly overthrow the Royal Extremists and discover the king has
killed himself in fear of upheaval. But Mooboo escapes, maintains her
anonymity, and takes the remaining Royal Extremists to the badlands of
Abrasia.

Meanwhile, Space City celebrates the revival of freedom, art, and love.

Episode II
Mooboo\'s Voodoo

Buquebus and Gladys have settled into their life in Honalee, though his itch
persists. Gladys knows Buquebus must fulfill his destiny and lets him go.

Buquebus travels for two years and stumbles upon Abrasia, oblivious to
Mooboo\'s Grand Scheme for revenge on Space City. With her desirable beauty
and evil mojo, Mooboo sets the trap and seduces Buquebus.

Sadly, the Voodoo consumes his energy and Buquebus becomes Mooboo\'s
slave. His weak spirit cries for help, but solace is found in her lust.

Episode III
Awakening

Buquebus is in constant inner struggle. His glow has been suppressed from
satisfying Mooboo\'s sexual thirst over the past year. His life force alerts him
to break free now or be destroyed.

Buquebus plans his escape. He must slip away unnoticed from Mooboo and the
Royal Extremists, leave Abrasia, and regain his individuality. Mooboo senses
his emancipation and prepares her coup de grace.

Buquebus wakes in the middle of the night to finish the battle between his
soul and the intoxicating Voodoo.

Sounds like an incredible night; wish I could have been there. Unfortunately, after judging a horseshow from 9-6:30 yesterday I discovered that my horse had fucked up his leg and  needed stitches. No, not the one that was already hurt. The healthy one. So now I have 2 broken horses AND I missed FF7. What the hell!

last night was easily one of the best shows i\'ve seen (might be biased cause the star wars jam throughout the night were sick), but the boys were on FIRE!!!  Eppy 3 might be one of the best songs i\'ve ever heard, i can\'t wait till they play it more and get really really comftorbale with it.  good to see the bacon suit making another appearance this year.  Puppetry was really dark.  Did they really sing those words to the star wars songs without messing them up????  how can you possibly remember them

and beef barley was awesome....best doughboy to date coming out of a perfect segue?

WOw, ThaT\'S a heavy claim! It was a good show though...I was wonderin\' if they\'d do a cover of Frank Zappa\'s - Goblin Girl. But alas, they did not...

Frank Zappa - Goblin Girl Lyrics

Hob-noblin
Wit de goblin
De goblin girl
From da mystery world

Hob-noblin
Wit de goblin
She\'s black \'n green
\'cause it\'s halloween

Raggedy black
Is the way she dress
Little green shoes
\'n her hair\'s a mess
On halloween night
At de costume ball
She\'s a goblin girl
And she can gobble it all

She\'s a goblin
She\'s a goblin girl
She\'s a goblin
She\'s a goblin girl
I been hobblin\'
\'cause of the goblin
Goblin girl ...goblin girl

Some girls like
To dress like a witch
Some girls like to dress like a queen
Best way a girl
Can dress for me
Is in a goblin suit
(they look so cute...)

When they\'re a goblin
There ain\'t a problin
When they\'re a goblin
I start a-wobblin\'
Pink all over
Some is tan

Goblin girls
From every land
They look good
From any which-a-way
Every halloween
You can hear me say:
"goblin girl, take it away..."

Hob-noblin
Wit de goblin
De goblin girl
From da mystery world

(trick or treat now...etc)
Talkin\' \'bout the bad girls
All the goblin girls
Talkin\' \'bout the bad, bad girls
The little goblin girls
Some are called doreen
Some are dressed in green
They\'re tricking your treat
But they\'re bad girls
They\'re very bad girls
(leprechaun light...etc.)
They make your face look like
You got scales on it
But that\'s okay...
When the green light shines down
On the black guys in the band
Everybody in the audience
Thinks they\'re seeing something
That looks like it\'s made out of
Fish skin
But coy leaves the green gels in the truss
Because he knows the guys in the front
Really enjoy looking like they\'ve got
Scales all over their body...

what an incredible evening with the breakfast!
everything was perfectly executed; i was so impressed at the amount of time and planning that obviously went into this show, it was absolutely mindblowing.
second set was probably the most fluid set of a breakfast i\'ve seen... from peak to trough i rode an incredible wave of breakfast originals mixed with star wars classics.
great crowd, great vibes... thanks for a wonderful night all! :D

i had to go incognito for the rest of the show and ditch the costume.... so i stayed glued to the front of the stage for Set II and the Encore.... it was rough ;)

it was sad to lose the costume though, i spent a good amount of time making it and i really wanted to show it off. wolfy was sportin\' it latenight though.... lol i hope someone got some pictures...

The boys showed us what they are capable of....especially Tim. Hope this epic freakout set the bar for Breakfast shows to come!

Amazing show and production last night.  The craziest part was at the end of Eppy II when Tim left a really dark and psychedelic guitar loop going as the band walked off.  (Notice the segue from the end of set II into the encore?  That\'s a first.)  Then the Episode III story appeared on the screens right on cue, everyone\'s going nuts, and the band came back out and played Eppy III.  It\'s an incredible tune, with about 8 minutes of intense composed prog-rock that eventually gives way to a blues theme with vocals.  Eppy II > Eppy III, what more could you ever want?  The rest of the encore was spectacular too.  Confirmage: Tim knew every word of the Ewok celebration.  And the end credits theme was awesome too, some very tough segues.  When\'s the last time you heard a rock band take on John Williams?  This is, without question, the best encore I have ever seen by any band!  Second set was absurd.  Look at all those segues!  It\'s Star Wars, it\'s Breakfast, Star Wars, Breakfast...the theme was slammin.  The opening of each set with the 20th Century Fox logo and the Star Wars-style scripts and the band playing the themes was great.  The Breakfast spoofs on the movie-rating screen were hilarious.  There were just so many aspects to this show:

-It was a Fonghoulish Freakout, most of the audience was in crazy costume.  And how about those band costumes?  Jordan could easily be a stunt-double for Qui Gon Jinn, and Justin Maturo spent 2 hours doing Ron\'s flawless pro makeup as Darth Maul.
-The biggest and best production the band has ever done.
-The most new material the band has ever played in one show
-The long, long awaited debut of EPISODE III!

So I\'ll have to sit on it a while, but this is easily a top-10 all-time Breakfast show for me, and possibly top 5.  Amazing.

opening and closing that curtain in front of the screen for the video stuff got harder and harder s the night went on but the whole thing turned out so great.  At least I was still able to close the curtain though *cough*wah*cough* ;)

What the hell!

got nervous while i was reading that, joce.. thought something more serious happened with horse1.. sucks nonetheless though..

hey, on the bright side, at least they didn\'t play HLH.. errr, wait...

Just seen this post in the thread for the BT. Don\'t know which show he went to, though: ;)

nick1257    2005-10-31 11:29:02
Eh.. iw as there... it went something like this

star wars jam>noise>star wars jam>noise>Noise>noise....

I really thought it was lame and i love the breakfast have seen them a couple times now. It was cool to see everyone in there costumes.. the bassist was darth maul the guitarist had some red emperor suit on, the drummer i thnk was obie won and the key boardist was ben.. im not really big on star wars...

The band that played before them were dressed up like the people in the sand that have burlap hoods and lights as eyes.. the name of the band was rayne i think.. they were actually not half bad.. i enjoyed them a hella lot more then the breakfast... anyway.. download it check it out.. btu from my expierence iw ouldnt even waste the disk space

You should feel sorry for him, though - judging by the typing at the end, it looks like his brain was fried - the guys obviously need to provide a health warning: Watching The Breakfast can seriously damage your brain - if you have one that is!!

Then the Episode III story appeared on the screens right on cue, everyone\'s going nuts, and the band came back out and played Eppy III.

yea... *right on cue* ;) :P

just to set the record straight, alot of people were working crew for this show and should be recognized (in no paticular order):

Andy from Groovin\' Lumins: Brought screens/cameras/projectors/ect and ran them
Justin Maturo Besides doing the backdrop artwork of death star and millenium falcum, he was responsible for the increadilbe makeup job for Ron (pics in gallery)
Freddie Wah / Me! curtain pullers for the projection screens
Dave Pec/Matt Vallo/Chris Fitz: The trio hittin\' up the sound recording at yet another show. Special note to Fitz for uploading the timmy tour show that was the first ep 3 the next day.
Seth Wolfman Ran dvd player for set/encore intros and ran camera
Josh Woodruff Ran Camera
Mark Peters Brought equipment
Paul Ryan I made all the set intro video and graffics, orginized and ran the video shoot.
pizza the hut aka DOBS Soundboard
vader aka Ellis Lighting
the band On top of learning all the complexities of the williams scores, Tim and Adrian had to memories songs written in made up languages.

sorry if I missed anyone. take a bow everyone, there was a ton of work that went into this and it came off excellent! Party on Wayne!

what an unbelieveable night. i\'m not a star wars fan at all (never seen any of the movies) but i was totally blown away beginning with the 20th century fox theme along with other movie themes that i recognized. the stage, makeup, decorations and general backdrop were incredible. the band and other dedicated people involved with the production of the show did an amazing job. before the show, i honestly thought that the theme was a cheesy idea, but loved it once i got there. the debut of ep3 was awesome..it was my first time hearing it, wasn\'t expecting the blues jamming but loved it. sick show all around.

thank you so much elisa and carla for being such great hostesses. i think i am one of the few that managed to pass out for a few hours around 6:30AM but was up not very long after. anywho...was great seeing everybody...i can say i had an amazing time this weekend because my brain/body/back/feet hurt today at work..see you all soon.

I should have a review done soon, but I wanted to thank all who were involved in the production of this show and of course the band for one of the best Breakfast experiences I have ever seen.  Obviously to my BFam I love you all and what a night we had.  Princess and MoeBass, thanks for the hospitality, what a strange and amazing time that after party was.  Thanks to Tickler for finding my axe, even though you were the one who took it away...I am guessing that was for the better;)  Football in the early morning hours in an alcohol-soaked, boomer-haze is a different thing all together and all should try it.  See you freaks Wednesday.  Snuffweisen!!!

Hey everyone...

i took a couple of pics too, I\'ll post them at some point soon

the show rocked, but at the same time the webster sucks. I feel like i got lost there. i lost track of where the energy was coming from, or where it was going. the stage is at an awkward position from the fans, so it was really strange trying to get into the music when there are all these factors against you... does anyone else feel this awful balance of energy there?

Ahhh... the after party. I wish i coulda been there for more of it. But when a mine calls, you gotta go dig, right? I really had to get some sleep to make the 3 hour drive to NJ in the early morn. I think I partied, slept, and was outta there even before the halfway point of that crazy ass party. Hope everyone had fun. I\'ll be sure to catch you serheads at the next one.

one thing i\'ve always noticed about my personal behavior at webster shows is that i\'m easily distracted.. i find it a lot harder to pay as much attention to the band as i would at other venues, especially when going back for a drink.. then by the time i\'m done with my drink, i feel so disconnected from the band/music, that i find myself just sort of wandering..

Ewok & Roll for Breakfast

The Breakfast celebrated Halloween a few days early by hosting its 7th Annual Fonghoulish Freakout at Hartford, CT’s Webster Theater on October 29. Weaving a Star Wars theme into its show, the group ran through a number of selections from the popular space fantasy including “Duel Of The Fates,” “Cantina Song” and “Yoda’s Theme.” Nodding to the movie house responsible for George Lucas’ creation, the Breakfast also served up the “20th Century Fox Theme” before each set and also utilized lightsabers as instruments various points throughout its performance. “Star Wars Ending Credits” Theme served as an appropriate show closing number.

Hey, I asked the question, you came up with an answer.  That sounds like a really cool New Year\'s concept by Bisco.  I will chip in that those themes played by Bisco are way easier than the end credits theme or Cantina Bind or Duel of the Fates.  What I really want to know is, who the hell is writing setlists for Bisco with numbers instead of asterisks?  Oof!  What if a song has a number in the title?

I loathe Star Wars so I had my questions regarding this theme. It feels great to be proven wrong. The theme\'s maninstream appeal and the creativity in  its execution played perfectly.

I liked the Star Wars songs that I had never heard, or didn\'t remember from childhood, like Lapti Nek and Ewok Celebration. The jams out of Puppetry and Psygn grabbed me (I\'m completely on board with Psygn). Clearly, the utilization of the Episodes was an appropriate framework for the show and Episode 3 was strong enough to overcome the insane amount of hype that preceded it.

Aiding Tim in the revision and editing of the Episodes\' text was like most writing: fun, tedious, and time-consuming, in this case two to three hours per Episode. In the process, he explained to me the entire Buquebus saga, for which the Episode text is merely the tip of the proverbial iceberg. I\'ve urged him to complete it as we all should. There\'s yet-to-be debuted songs that tie into the story, besides the ones that have already been played: the three Episodes, Buquebus, Gladys, Simpleton.

In conclusion, I like Lebowski much better than Star Wars, yet thought this show superceded last year\'s. That\'s sayin\' somethin\'. May the Schwartz be with you.

Last time there was 400. We lost a few heads. Our goal was 500.

My experience from handing out flyers for the Webster is this, "ughh, well, maybe if it wasn\'t the Webster I\'d go"

How do you respond to it?

So playing the Webster is losing fans for The Bfast? Not good. One thing these guys lack is a venue to call their own once they can fill it. It seems each band that is making it these days reach their goal of "filling" their local theatre or large club. They then tour gain more fans and come back to a sold out crowd and move up to the next biggest club in town. The Bfast were/are able to do this up to a large Bar level and w/ a place that is as shitty as The Webster as their only option locally, maybe they will need to figure out another way to leapfrog up the jamscene ladder to theatres. How? Got me.
All you guys can do is everytime you see a bandmember tell them the Webster loses fans for them. Everytime you see one. They may just get sick abt hearing it and stop playing there. ???

At least New Haven has more to offer than Hartford. hartford has always been a lame place with very little going for it. New Haven isnt much better but everything is at least very centrally located there. They nightlife sort of centers around the Yale area. Whats Hartford got?

UHA is sort of close but not really. There has never been much of a night life there except for a samll Bar scene and I dont even know if that still exits but I would imagine it does.

NYC isn\'t much better either. All of the bonus points that NYC had went out the door with quality of life laws etc. There are only a few good venues left although I cant really think of more than a couple. Especially for a band this size.

It seems like Upstate NY is the most wecoming on all fronts from some chill venues and decent sounding places but this isnt really local for the band.

Go on Tea Leaf Green tour, ;).

I think, after relistening, that Psygn->Ep.1(Happy) could be some of my favorite Breakfast ever.  It is simply a new style of jamming that I cannot remember ever hearing from these freaks before.  Psygn is quickly becoming my favorite Breakfast song(right behind Buquebus; of course!).  Also, Good Things, PERFECTION!  Now, we\'re starting to talk DYNAMICS people!!!

LOL At least I can go on TLG tour.

Yeah the new songs do point to a new direction in writing which does display a growth in dynamics within their show. Very nice to hear.

No sarcasm, I always thought jocelyn looked good with dreads.

They have got to be brutal to your hair over long periods of time though.

Joc could do anything with her hair and still be hot.  dreads, bald, twist, garfunkel... she\'d look good no matter what.
