yeah, that was kinda lame imo. at least check them out LIVE before you rant that hard, wtf?!?! hearing the Indy show recording won\'t do a whole lot for many folks...weird room, short show (dammit!!), still learning songs as they were out of the road and a new set-up. but they hit some things and you could see the excitement...esp. after the blowout at 10K lakes!
the transition from Indy to Providence/Southbridge was 10-fold and I liked the Trio in Indy!! (just bummed that there was no crowd and we got shafted on that second set...grrrr.)
The boys are pulling things together, and to discount that and not embrace the change is a choice, but a poor one.
i know a theme that it might be that would rock. :)

They\'re going to embark on a national tour without the new album, then release it at home when tour concludes? I thought it would work the other way. Any chance the album will be on tour (even if a shipment can meet the caravan somewhere en route, once the cds are ready)? Seems like a big missed opportunity if they don\'t bring Moxie Epoxie on the road.

That was one of the openers at FF5 (Lebowski). I believe it was Stanley Maxwell, I could tell you for sure if you could tell me ALL of the opening bands (this was the Webster, so there were probably five or six).

My brother went to see the advantage last night (nintendo band who sold out the middle east).....said they were awesome. They are playing in wallingford on friday and he highly recommended making the trip to see them

not always. go to cheaptickets.com and click on "Expand search options." you can buy round trip tickets with the option flying in and out of multiple cities. thats what i did the last time i flew and i did not pay a lot like i would for 2 separate one way tickets.

From what I understand, it is looking like the FFVIII theme is gonna be the "Tribute To The Trio" or something along the "tre-theme"....I am sure the official announcement is coming soon.....

If you decide to fly in on Friday, depending upon the time your flight comes in, I can probably pick you up at the airport on my way down. I\'m probably going to take Friday & Saturday off, so I could leave NH whenever, and I drive right through Hartford and by the airport exit (which has a GREAT DAYS INN!!! :rolleyes: ) on my way to New Haven. Can\'t help ya with Seracuse though- doubt I\'ll be going to that one.

My major gripe about toads would be the placement of the under 21 side is situated right in front of ronnies stacks. Giving the listener i think a somewhat altered sound of TB.

Okay, the CT General Statutes takes 3 pages to explain this, and I\'m attempting to do so in a paragraph.

Al, those are promo posters which they send out to the venues they are playing so they can get hung up in the club. Someone will write the date and time info in that blank space so they dont have to print up a different poster for each show.......

"There\'s usually a negotiation process involved, where one side can offer a proposal and the other side can offer a counter-proposal, [but] the commission makes the final decision," he said.
Toad\'s Place owner Brian Phelps declined to comment, and LCC Director John Suchy was not available for comment on Monday night.
This is not the first time that the nightclub, a venue that hosts popular musical artists and holds dance parties several nights a week, has been raided following reports of underage drinking. In September 2001, Toad\'s suffered a similar inspection and the nightclub was cited for multiple instances of serving alcohol to minors. The club was fined $25,000 and was forced to shut down for one week after being cited by the commission for 12 specific violations of Connecticut liquor statutes.
While Phelps has remained silent about possible penalties, he told the News in the days following last fall\'s raid that he would avoid a complete closure of the club if possible.
Some students echoed Phelps\' sentiment and said the temporary loss of Toad\'s, which hosts weekly dance parties and pop artists, would negatively impact student life.
"[It\'s the] removal of one extra fun thing to do on Saturday night," John Beski \'07 said. "I think the student body would react adversely."
Jessica Bian \'08 said she thinks Toad\'s is central to the city\'s weekend entertainment scene, and many Yalies would find it hard to replace if the Commission forces it to close.
Since its opening over 30 years ago, Toad\'s has featured many popular artists, including the Rolling Stones.
"The attraction of Toad\'s for Yale students is that it is reliable and trustworthy," Bian said. "[But] people are going to go out no matter what, [and they] would disperse to more [local] bars."
Other New Haven establishments have also come under investigation for underage drinking in recent years. Naples Pizzeria, which was raided by the LCC in October 2001, had its liquor license revoked and paid $12,500 worth of fines to the Commission.

Ron spoke to someone at Toad\'s Place and confirmed that there definitely will be alcohol served at the Freakout!!
As it says in the article, Toad\'s will be unable to serve alcohol for three months next year: May, June, and July.

I can\'t believe some of the ridiculous speculation that was stated as fact on this thread. I have certainly been guilty of speculation in the past, but is usually a case of over positive wishful thinking.
As someone who has taken time out of his own personal schedule to help promote this show, and improve Toad\'s Place\'s opinion of the Breakfast and it\'s fans I am incredibly dissappointed.
This type of unfounded negative publicity for the show is what produces doozies folks.
It\'s been mentioned at length in other threads that it is important for the growth of the band to have a strong showing at local venues especially. Good attendence @ tB 1,000 was what got them this gig. If FF VIII turns out poorly it could adversely effect future bookings, costing the band money and reputation. Not to mention if god forbid venue owners catch wind that people are anti-promoting on a band fan site.

Sorry but perhaps Toad\'s needs to keep their house in better order. When local newspapers are talking about the place loosing their liquor license over serving underage kids it is easy that these speculations will happen. The article was printed TODAY.

So it is easy to understand why people would think what was expressed in this thread. Especially considering the PROPOSAL states next year. The article says nothing about the potential ramifications of the proposal is not accepted.
If Toad\'s were my club I would be asking the yale news to print a correction or atleast a follow up stating that they still are serving booze and that life is normal at toad\'s until further notice.
I am glad that things got clarified. I honestly wasn\'t going to bother to book a hotel if they were not serving booze.

Stop this silliness. This whole issue is still being debated and appealed, and certainly there will be ample notice before anything like this happens.
I talk to these people three times a week. Lawyers can waste more time than you would ever imagine.
In a word.....the show goes on. Hopefully some great press for the show as well. We really need a good turnout at this show and the money from CD sales will be largely put back into promotion....so lets do it up.

how many shows have I had to sneek in (or not) and EXPECT not to drink...ya maybe i can\'t drink for obvious reasons, but guess what, I still was there knowing that I was 18 years old and wasn\'t going to be legal for another 3 years...
and lets not be delusional here, this shit is all over the news. It\'s not bad PR it\'s a real issue, you can\'t just expect to keep something like this on the DL just for attendence purposes...
BTW toads is the only place I\'ve seen good size crowds at, for some reason i don\'t think their home town venue reputation is going anywhere...

First, maybe I\'m crazy. I never went to a show to get drunk or stoned. I always went and still go for the music front and foremost. I like that I am able to remember every concert I\'ve ever gone to. To each his own.
That being said,
Could people complaining that they will not go to a show on a fan-run message board hurt relations between the band and venue? Sure. Could silencing peoples voices and keeping this under the radar maybe get a few more people to the show that might not go if there were going to be no beer sales? Sure. Is it the fault of the person who posted it? no. Is it the fault of the band. no. It is not a site run by the band. It is run by an individual who makes up and enforces his own moderation rules. If a huge thread pops up as a result and a bunch of people say they are not going to go to show #x, but will go to show #y instead will it piss off some people? sure, but it doesn\'t mean they don\'t like the band anymore.
However, it is not the fault of a fan to say they will not go to a show because of any reason. If you don\'t like it, try and persuade them, but if you censor them you will only alienate your fan base. I didn\'t go to new years last year. Not because I don\'t like the band, but I don\'t like the Webster and didn\'t want to go there. Does that mean I\'m never going to another show? Of course not. I just chose not to go to that one. If toads place is pissed off because people on a fan run message board are saying "hey, I\'m not going to go to that show because of reason x", then let them be pissed. It was not the band making an official statement to boycott the show, it was a few fans saying that based on a rumor they would not go. If you have proof to sway them, then post it and sway them to go!
So who\'s to blame? In my opinion, no one here. You could blame toads for not enforcing their security good enough, you could even blame the police for doing a routine age check at the venue, but ultimately the people who everyone should be mad at is the under aged kids who sneak into shows every day and brake the law. They got caught, but because of the law, the venue gets fined, and it will affect some shows in the future. Potentially this breakfast show would be one of them, but based on info from several reliable sources, it sounds like the beer sale ban will not go into effect until next year.
Sure someone making a post like that does not help the bands relationship with the particular venue, but there is nothing wrong with someone voicing their opinion.
ok, rip me apart now, but even if you completely disagree with what I say, understand that I have the right to say what I think as much as you have the right to disagree.

Yes, people have the right to say what ever they want. Just b/c you have the right to do something doesn\'t necessarily make it a good idea.
I am not trying to censor this board, nor am I suggesting anyone else do it. What I am doing is urging people to be careful when an untrue rumor could hurt the band. They don\'t have to, but it would be nice.
Posing the question of the status of the show is fine and good, but when people who don\'t know the answer provide a false one it is irresponsible. When a question is posed, give a few hours and someone who knows the facts will likely provide them.
With that said I heard from a reliable source that Page McConnel will be sitting in on keys for FFVIII. ;)
