2006-11-11 The Breakfast - Higher Ground, Burlington, VT
The Vermont song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oyFTJFSPqk8) (Adrian on guitar)
Quote
Encore with Adrian on guitar and Tim on Drums. Single camera, no audio sync. It\'s shakey and distorted at times but still pretty fun. Take it for what it is.

That\'s Adrians fiance at the end of the song. Video by Paul Ryan

huh, well I thought this was the weakest Breakfast show I\'ve seen in the last several months. I mean, still a good show compared to most other bands (we know this).... I dunno, like I normally would go crazy for a Sundance but it was like the band was holding a lot back that I know they\'ve got. Generally wasn\'t diggin the guitar/synth/keyboard-at-the-same-time stuff , the best parts were when Tim fahgottabout all those keys for a while and stuck to guitar.

I reckon I\'m spoiled on far better (Breakfast) shows that I didn\'t have to drive 6 hours for.

One other point--- I will go up there again for a Club Metronome or Nectars show but I\'m all set with any future Higher Ground shows. Their policy that doesn\'t let you even go back out to your car in the parking lot once you buy a ticket is straight fascist. It is a major deterrent for me to not be able to get my blaze on whenever I feel like it. Also I don\'t see why this venue is supposed to be better than Metronome. The atmosphere is "concrete/asbestos" and the drinks are taxed with hardly any booze in them. It didn\'t seem like it holds any more people than Metronome either (maybe it does, I can\'t see how though)

I had a good time though, was nice to see good faces...

and whoever the opening band was kicked ass, I think I actually enjoyed them over Breakfast last night

^Seriously?? i mean they were alright for a breakfast opener, but definately nothing special:tired::zzz:. You must not have really been paying attention to the breakfast or something cause they ripped shit up last night. i was standing right in front of Adrian during Over Exposure and i was completely owned. pretty damn good first set sundance psyn rufus>taboo. the L&tG>Over was once again my highlight. i agree that they are kinda dicks at HG (but no worse than the webster), but i also think playing there is a huge step in the right direction and a step up from nectars/metronome. BTW thanks Tuna for the headie ride up there and thanks to Paul and Fitz for the ride home. much love to bfam for hookin\' this gypsie up.

thanks for that vermont song clip.... damn, that was quick!

I thought the show was great... and yes, Twiddle was definitely outstanding. I went to their webpage today and listened to some stuff. They played that Gatsby song yesterday and it was out of control! Highlight for me was prob. the Rufus and Love Lake. They were very energetic (as always) and the crowd really enjoyed themselves.

Well I\'m outta my mind if I think a show was the best I\'ve ever seen and I\'m outta my mind if I think a show wasn\'t even close to the best I\'ve ever seen......

moral of the story is y\'all should know by now I\'m pretty much outta my fucking mind :P

for the record my boy Loren who I drove up with said the Northampton show last weekend blew this one out of the water. Maybe I\'m not the only one gone totally loco

....

I\'m not saying the opening band was *better* than Breakfast, Obviously not. But I think I enjoyed their set more because it was totally new and original and they had some unique energy, esp the bass player that dude was nuts. Breakfast layed down a couple good sets but having been to a fair amount of shows including a lot of super-serious throwdowns I really didn\'t feel like I got anything new or unique out of this burlington show.

It\'s tough hearing VT Song without Jordan\'s jam in the middle.  Check out 2004\'s Baja Bash version for a sampling.

The bass is the only instrument I\'ve never seen Tim play on stage.

i thought last night was a little rough, but still a good show no less

late and the great>over exposure was the jam of the night i thought, they really laid into that one and everyone was movin

im not sure i dig tim messin around with the keys all the time though.  it seems to always turn into the same wall of noise without really ever going anywhere

Fitz / Gfunk, get up. I want to be home by noon and it\'s already 7:30. Sleep in the car.

"Free

Damn, I forgot I took that :P You two slept almost the entire 3.5 hours back. For some reason I was wide awake. Lots of fog, cops and heavy rain on the way back. Glad nothing happened - easily saw 15 people pulled over/get pulled over in vermont and mass. Vermont is a beautiful part of the country, was glad to get up there again, even if I only did see it from the highway.

"Look man, we could have just taken Rt 5 the whole way!"

Just got back around 11pm. I LOVE Burlington!!! HG is def. a step in the right direction for the guys!! 246 paid in a room that holds 3hung. Not too shabby!!! I know I\'m spoiled, but the HG has a GREAT little balcony off the green room for chillin\'/ pics/ video!!! And the people that work there were SUPER friendly!!! (at least to us they were)

We only caught the second set. OE was def. my highlight. Adrian was grinning up a storm during VT. Song. Great closer to a great night.

How can anyone say that Tim should stop playing the guitar and keyboard at the same time?  That was fucking incredible to see and if youre gonna talk smack fuckin try it yourself.

Alright, i admit that was harsh..but you gotta appreciate his talent.

^^
I guess I hinted at that.

First let me say I never talk smack about TPalms... he\'s been a huge inspiration of mine ever since the first PB show I caught over 4 years back. I can\'t even guess how many times I\'ve made the claim that he\'s the best guitar player I\'ve ever seen.

Now that we got that outta the way.......

Not everything that is hard to do musically is what\'s going to sound the best. I do like Tim\'s keyboard/guitar combo playing..... in small doses. But I\'ve seen a bunch of shows since the band lost Jordan and the novelty is sorta wearing off for me. Much of what I\'ve seen Tim do when he\'s playing keys and guitar at the same time has been pretty much the same thing. From song to song, from show to show.

This is a dude who can bust out incredibly tasteful / impossibly-hard / tripped out guitar solos ----- orrrrrr, apparently, he can play a few notes back and forth on the keyboard and hammer-on the guitar at the same time. It\'s a cool trick, but not nearly as cool just playing the guitar rediculously well on its own.

Small doses is all I\'m sayin. Lately it seems like every song that gets jammed out has some of this combo guitar/keys playing and its starting to seem repetetive to me.

..... and if that\'s "talking smack" then call me Donald Rumsfeld..

....... oh btw, Jaime, I see this is your first post on .info and already you\'re calling me out!! That\'s awesome. Really, I mean that :D

And I think the answer to that was pretty obvious.....FUCK YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!

Great latenights all around this past weekend.....
Amazing Ser laughs at the Hotel Utica watching the Esteban infomercial with Gavin, Adrian, and Tim

We could have raged out Rochester harder considering the hotel got us 4 hotel rooms.  But the party room did rage with a couple of Oneonta\'s finest (Jeff and Jen), and Eldwayno....We definitely did have people knocking on our door and hotel security trying to quiet us down.....

And as for the University Inn in Brahlington.....well all I have to say is hotel radio dance party....cops and hotel security called....Silent Dance Party......Fucking A

Tim was definitely getting pissed at Gabo cause he was bezerking and he was hammerstein for sure. silent dance party and wrestling matches were hilarious. gooood times.

Well this was my first trio show. Very impressed with Tim\'s legatto, however bummed out that two of his synths were mixed so poorly that you could barely hear them.  I felt like there were more people for the opening band, but once again the band showed no dissonant signs and played with their same consistent enthusisasm.  I had mixed feelings the whole night.  The band got sloppy, played out of synch, but still were able to deliver some fantastic moments ie Pysgn, Taboot, TLATG>OE.
As for the newer new Love Lake. BOOOO, I loved that song for  its lounge jazz qualities, now it\'s been jambandgenerified into something bland and tiring.
Very young crowd, but  a very enthusiastic one...

However, they need a keyboardist. Plain and simple.

Title: Trio
Post by: Vassillios on November 16, 2006, 04:12:28 pm
My first show since the breakfast has been a trio!! i last saw them at club metronome on 420 (which was delightful). And i hate to say this, but i think they almost rock more now that jordan is gone. Tim doin his guitar/key work is utterly insane. sometimes it does get to be a little much, yes, and i agree with "small doses" but it makes for some sick jams. i was right up front for the second set, and i was deaf for the next two days in my left ear, but it was worth it. I thought the first set was a little more solid than the second, but i liked seeing tim and adrian switch instruments for the encore; i actually switch with the drummer in my band every show, and we have done that at the higher ground stage before so i thought it was cool they did it. Twiddle also rocked, they have gotten a lot better, we played a show together at higher ground last january. But after seeing this show, i realize that i need to see the breakfast all the frigging time. when are they playin next
