really? that\'s great news since I wasn\'t planning on going.
-
I was waiting with baited breath for this to get announced.
Tim told us at the Katonah Bar & Grill. I am pumped.
This really makes my vibes. I like a lot of the other bands too but not anywhere close to this band.
I hope some of you will spend the weekend with us if you can. It is always nice to have a big crew. people to watch your back and lots of people in the campgrounds etc etc

sounds cool. i\'m glad the breakfast were finally added to the lineup since Vibes is in CT and they are from New Haven. Scarecrow and the Breakfast for free sounds like it should be a good time even if the Wailers set is the same time as the breakfast. I\'ve never heard of Electric Hill but I am sure they won\'t disappoint.

awesome news!
see yaal there definately!!

Electric Hill
Awesom 3 piece power trio from CT. They have been around for a while
They are like the breakfast but more rooted in traditional blues. They are all very very good musicians.
They used to play a lot at Tobacco Road etc. They don\'t play as many shows as they used to at least I haven\'t seen them in a long time.
2 of the 3 in the band were my buddys wedding band. We tried to get them to play electric hill tunes but they stuck to traditional jazz :)
They do a lot of SRV, Stevie Wonder, Funk type stuff. Definitely check them out
-
i vaguely remember electric hill.
although its difficult to remember almost anything that happened at tobacco road, theyre ringin a bell..
-
Well I am really glad to hear this.
I may end up going to this festival since it is a friend\'s birthday weekend and she is going... the Breakfast definitely are good incentive...

Mel.
I will most likely be in Staff camping. It depends but most likely thats where I\'ll be set up. It sort of all depends when Kim has to be onsite.
-
I\'ll be there with a small crew. definitely was hoping they would get added to this

Article from the CT Post today:
BRIDGEPORT — Gathered around a map propped on the hood of a 1996 Volvo in Seaside Park Wednesday, the Board of Park Commissioners finalized plans for a four-day concert that will split the waterfront park in half.
Gathering of the Vibes, set for Aug. 9-12, will take over the entire east side of the park. A crowd of up to 13,000 concertgoers and campers is expected.
For the duration of the event, the west side of the park and beach will be restricted to city residents with beach stickers.
Fencing for the concert and parking areas will start to be erected next week.
On the west side, there will be 858 paved parking spots for city residents. No day passes for non-residents will be issued for the duration of the Vibes.
Concert-goers will get windshield passes and be allowed to park in both designated field areas on the east side, plus in nearby lots.
City Parks Director Charles Carroll called the job of keeping the west beach open to the public a "huge" undertaking.
Kenneth Hays, president of Terrapin Presents, the Danbury firm organizing the concert, told commissioners and city officials during the muggy, on-site meeting he has a comprehensive plan.
"There\'s a buzz, no doubt about it," Hays said. "Ticket sales are going well. We\'re selling about 125 tickets a day right now. The last 10 days coming up to the event, typically, is when 50 percent of our tickets are sold."
The concert has already drawn 6,000 people who want to camp in the park over the four days.
The concert space has a capacity for up to 20,000. Hays expects 13,500 or more, depending on the weather. He anticipates concert coverage from The New York Times, CNN and Rolling Stone magazine. Sirius Satellite Radio is a sponsor.
"Everyone\'s watching us. We know that and we\'re up to the challenge," Hays said.
The lineup includes about two-dozen bands, including Bob Weir & Ratdog, George Clinton & P-Funk and Los Lobos.
This is the third time a Vibes concert has been held in the park, but the first time since 2000.
The annual event had to find another location while Seaside Park underwent renovations a few years back. Hays said he\'s happy to return to Bridgeport.
In addition to allowing campers to park and set up tents on the grass for the concert, parking space has been arranged at lots on the nearby Remington and Sikorsky properties. Hays also hopes to be able to offer parking at the garage adjacent to Housatonic Community College.
Concert officials are also using facilities at the University of Bridgeport to house and feed staff during the event.
Deputy Police Chief James Honis said police would staff all major intersections near the park. In addition, State Police will be stationed near Interstate 95 entrances. Terrapin will also hire private security guards to patrol the campground.
Honis expects some traffic congestion at the start of the event, with 65 percent to 70 percent of campers expected to arrive starting at 7 a.m. Aug. 9.
Some commissioners raised concerns that the three miles of fencing will interfere with the Nutmeg State Games, which plans some events at the park the week before the concert.
Hays said there is some flexibility over what part of the fencing is installed first, but said the job takes nine days and must be finished by Aug. 2. The venue needs to be secure before equipment and lighting for the production can be set up.
George Estrada, the city\'s public facilities director, said the camping and parking shouldn\'t hurt the grass as long as it doesn\'t rain for several consecutive days before the event. He asked for assurances, however, that ball field infields not be touched.
"They\'ve been a good organization to work with. They\'ve cleaned up after themselves. We\'ll have a meeting on fields that morning," he said.

 Wah asking someone else to confirm a rumor. CLASSIC!
-
i do beleive i too have heard that rumur
-
well,im looking forward to the new breakfast members first official show.
i,for one,think its kinda a big deal.
-
is it confirmed? i am very excited as well if this is true..
-
There is truth in every rumor.
-
Is GOTV the last show?
-
Is GOTV the last show?
absolutely not.

it is and it isn\'t.

Ok so its the last show sans keys? That ups my happiness level 27%.
-
imo, timmy should still setup his key rig for loops/extra sounds..
-
imo, timmy should still setup his key rig for loops/extra sounds..
who says he won\'t be doing that?
-
nobody specifically said he wasnt doing that, alls im saying is i think he should.
-
same here.
tim used his keys while matt was sitting in with the breakfast, so i\'m not that worried about them going anywhere. hypothetically speaking, of course.
-
to be honest, i think if matt does join the band, tim might want to think about losing his keyboard set up .i know i know, the more the merrier and tim is pretty good at the keyboard. nonetheless, i feel that if the keys are taken care of (properly ofcourse), then tim should focus on using the guitar as his intrument of choice and leaving the keys to matt...just seems right to me...either way if we have a new keyboard player i would be so happy
-
i couldnt disagree more. with the keys being taken care of "properly" i see it as an opportunity for tim to play more keys improperly and have more fun making crazy sounds.
not that ostreicher plays in a way that many would call proper. he usually ends up on the ground wrestling his keyboards at the end of a crazy jam....that is when he is not climbing up the walls or slithering around on the dance floor on his stomach like a snake while the band jams out.

^^
Hell yeah
I am so ready to see Matt play as part of The Breakfast...

I am so ready to see Matt play as part of The Breakfast...
:that:
What is his background? I did a web search and found that he has played with some prominent people.
-
well word, this should be ill.
-
well, it is official.
According to my source at last evenings show, it was announced that Camp Barefoot is the last Breakfast show as a trio. The band will perform as a quartet stating at the G.O.T.V. There is a picture that TKA took of Tim saying good bye to his key\'s and hugging them.
That is all!

I hope they make an announcement; it can only attract more interest in their set.
-
i am so happy right now
-
So it was pretty close to exactly a year that Jordan left the band and now they are adding a new member.
A big moment in bfast history is upon us.

i think all three guys and to not be forgotten Grellis and Chadwick have all come a long way and improved leaps and bounds beyond where they were a year ago, which is pretty tough in my eyes because they were freak\'n nasty before. And look forward to how the sounds will meld with Matt in the line up and the new direction of grow these guys are going to experience over the next year.

and they are definitely still playing on the free stage, right? :)
-
Yes.
The addition of Striker is going to be a great direction for this band. Matt is an extremely intelligent musician and is going to add some flavor to this band that we haven\'t seen before.
going be ill!
-
in addition to his musical knowledge and skill, he will also add some stage presence. which for him consists of doing headstands on his amp, wrestling his keyboard, trying to climb walls, and rolling around on the stage. all in all, very excited for vibes.
-
I wonder how much of the stage antics will carry over from the Monday night Blah Blah Collect shows.
-
does he sing at all ?
-
does he sing at all ?
I believe he does. I also believes he composes.

Sooo I don\'t have to pay $55 to see a Breakfast show?
Also- anyone going to this who would be willing to pass out some passes for the 8/23 Toad\'s show, please contact me.

i\'m going to a family event on the 11th in south jersey and i\'m not sure when we are coming back. if no one else takes you up on the offer, you can send some to me and i\'ll bring them in case i can make it.
and that also goes for if the show is indeed free.
since no one here seems to know i\'ll get in touch with the scarecrow collection people i know, cause they\'re playing on the same stage as the breakfast but right before them, and that\'s where i heard this from.
it would fucking RULE if it was free, cause there\'s no way i\'m spending $55 for one set of the breakfast.
-
Yes it\'s free. It\'s on the solar stage, which is a showcase for local bands. From what I can tell it will be held on the outside of festival grounds. Don\'t know exactly where, but I\'m sure a simple visit to the TTapes boards will elicit that answer.

i tried for the life of me to find this info on the gotv site this morning and came up empty..
-
From some thread.....
"the solar beach stage is available all weekend to all residents who have a beach parking permit or want to buy one for the day. it is located at the west beach section of the park and will be open until about 8pm.
but there is no entrance to the main part of the festival on thursday if you don\'t buy a weekend camping pass and pay the extra $20 thursday "early entry" fee. "
"ok, from what i was told: there is a "parking permit" sticker for the beach that residents can buy. bridgeport or connecticut? that i don\'t know. OR you can pay to park in that area if you\'re from anywhere and want to pay to get into that section of the park. how much does it cost? that i don\'t know either.
this is all i know about that "
-
or just show up sunday morning/afternoon and get a bracelet from somebody that\'s leaving

As far as the west section goes, this was answered in a previous post via the newspaper:

Basically, if this stage is in that part of the park that parking is only open to city residents, my guess is everyone\'s best bet would be to park in the ghetto and troop it.

Dave and other Bfast tapers.
Are you planning on taping this show ?
I am trying to figure out my taping schedule for vibes and was wondering if this set is going to be covered.
The whole day sunday on that stage is really really good. I am leaning towards taping this stage and either patching for Buddy Guy and Los Lobos but still trying to make a decision
-
if i\'m there, i will be taping, but unfortunately, i won\'t be able to commit to anything until day-of.
-
Oh crap - if the time slot was a couple hours earlier, I could\'ve made it.
-
for those that can make it, its going to be a nice Sunday afternoon and our first fresh taste of the Breakfast.
-
I would go, but I\'ll be on my way back to NJ.

:shrug:There better be passes/promo available, since they don\'t have any more upcoming dates, and I can\'t really pass out sampler CD\'s (bc Matt isn\'t on any previous live discs), and it\'s a local gig with approx. 13,000 attending people!!!
-
We will not have access to 13,000 people from outside the festival but might be able to get a couple hundred.
Derick, when was the last time you saw the stack of passes for the August 23rd show? I have heard nothing about this. Those passes could be from the freakout last year.
-
We\'ll be there all weekend with passes in hand.

Well I\'d hope he\'d be able to comp, did jordan comp changes???

I am not following you Ant-Man, comp changed?
Google Matt and see what he has accomplished, easier then spewing what I read.

The Solar Stage is free to residents with a beach pass and Vibes ticket-holders. If you\'re neither, you must pay for a "parking pass" - I think it\'s about $20... It\'s still cheap, especially if you can fit many people in one car!
Here\'s a pic of the stage Breakfast will play on:

So then it\'s not a "free" show...........
thanks for clearing that up..........
Regarding the "stage" still looks better than the "stage" we played on at Rock Your Art Out festival in Saratoga Springs earlier this summer........and the boys rocked the everliving fuck outta that......

What if we walk from the ghetto?
Park in a decent area, ride a bike down?
Walsh & Gencs drunk on a tandem, biking through the ghetto; beautiful!!

first 1 i have had in a loooooooooooong time.
I Will be onsite tomorrow. I will try and find out what the deal is for the "free" stage and post from Seaside Park. I will have my cell if anyone needs to get in touch with me.

worse case scenario that is what gets done.

For anyone going for the whole weekend that doesn\'t have a ticket yet...
FYE still has cheaper tickets available. $144.75 total as opposed to $170 at the gate.
-
as i study the schedule, i\'m concerned about their time slot. i expect to see a steady stream of people packing up and leaving by the time they hit the stage. i hope not.

I think one of the largest camping areas is right across the street from where they are playing. If people are in fact packing up, they will still be able to hear the band loud and clear. Maybe it will entice them to stick around.

So is there any word on the validity of my presumptions from reading this thread?
As of yet, I have been assuming that this show is free, but I\'m not sure why... I believe someone said it was the "Local Stage" and that made it free? But maybe that was contingent on being from Bridgeport or something? Or maybe that is just for parking? And we should go through a ghetto before we get there?
I know a good many people that are interested in coming JUST to see the Breakast set, and would prefer not to pay $55 if possible....
If someone has a clear answer, please do tell...

i believe this is where we\'re at:
to this point, no one has been able to find specific official evidence, in writing, that anyone will be able to access the stage that the breakfast is playing on for free.
kindm\'s is going to be posting the official word, possibly sometime today, once he talks to the powers that be at the vibes.
-
The show is in fact free. It\'s the parking thing that is unsure. I\'ll try to find out today once we get there and get it posted today or tomorrow if Mike hasn\'t.

again, there has been no evidence of an official (todd, your post on .info does not constitute \'official\') word on this. show me something on the GOTV site that says this stage is free to access.

if we don\'t find this out today/early tomorrow morning, i won\'t have internet access up until the show. who would be the best person to call to find out info about this? there\'s no way i\'m paying $70 for one breakfast set (sorry guys)
also, if it\'s not free i\'d just say in nj/ny til sunday night...

hey guys! I just figured out how 2 get internet service on my phone. we still don\'t know about the solar stage yet, but as soon as I find out i\'ll post any info I get! the festie is great so far... & I ca\'t wait to see Pfnk & DBB tonight - woohoo!!!

thanks robin you rock :)

ok. I just spoke to information - the solar stage is, in fact, free. it\'s on a public beach about .75 mi away. there might be a \'beach afmission\' fee, but they\'re not sure & it\'d be cheaper than a gotv pass. see y\'all here tomorrow night! its def gonna be a rager !!

Anybody want to carpool in? My plan would be SCC>Breakfast>exit stage left.....
And if anyone on the "inside" can get concrete info on where to park for this that would be mighty nice.
-
nice, glad to see this is panning out. this is gonna be the sheeeeeeznit
-
ok....here it is......park near the corner of iranistan avenue and atlantic ave. walk down iranistan to atlantic and turn right. the campground will be on your left. walk about 1/2 mile and tell security your going to the beach. walk to the beach and then walk back (very short) to the solar stage. TRUST ME. i\'ve been doing this for three days and you know where i work. see you all there
