Post by: davepeck on October 26, 2007, 01:42:09 am
I: Drunk Monk Bar, Great Big Fiery Ball In The Sky > Wild Pack Of Asscracks, Escher\'s Etchings (Parts 1 & 2) > Cosmic Spaceway Rhyme, Spunk > Drum Solo, Hot\'Lanta > Rufus > Food For Thought* > jam > Taboo Or Not Taboot, Keyboard Solo > The Chase, Honey Butter**

E: jam^ > Inner Glimpse

The Psychedelic Breakfast album Bona Fide (2003) was played in its entirety to start the set.

 * Thought 1: "Is the king really alive or dead?"
Thought 2: "Give. Give. Give. Give. Give.... Strangers Helping Strangers putting food in peoples\' mouths. Think about that for a second, and give, give, give, give, give."
Thought 3: "Sound guy solo - Take it away!"
   Thought 4: "FREAKOUT!!!"
** Caitlin Kalafus on drums; Adrian on keyboards; Tim and Matt switch instruments twice during jam; with \'That\'s All Right Mama\' (Elvis Presley) and \'Take Me Out To The Ballgame\' jams.
^ with \'Split Open And Melt\', \'Reba\', and \'Bouncin\' Around The Room\' (Phish) teases and \'Don\'t Stop Til You Get Enough\' (Michael Jackson) jam.

Looks REDONKULOUS. That SOAM and Michael Jackson tease reminds me of 10/21/95 when Phish teased Black Or White and Beat It to make everyone think they were gonna cover him for the Halloween set. So... we shall see if the "tease" is actually a tease! I myself would LOVE to hear them play Lawn Boy, but I could also see them doing the Melt tease as a fakeout type thing, then they bust out a Zappa album or something. Whatever man.... i just can\'t wait for tonight and tomorrow! Let\'s go Breakfast!

show was fun, but definitely not one of the best i\'ve been to. i thought it took the guys a while to get it into gear and all connect. loved dancing to Don\'t Stop. unfortunately i was just getting warmed up at that point -- and it was already the encore. at that point, i sincerely wished i could blow off all my plans for the weekend and go on tour. last night just sort of wet my appetite for more!

loved inner glimpse. also really great to hear cosmic, spunk, taboo and wild pack. personally hadn\'t heard those tunes in a really long time.

and don\'t forget the tripped out Seseme Street song and the "take me out to the ball game." (fucking red sox fans...) ;)

as always, i feel it must be said that i love the breakfast crew and am overjoyed each time i meet more heads. have a fan-fucking-tastic weekend everyone!

I had a blast last night for sure. Meeting some new "old friends" was great. I thought the Rufus was incredible. The jams went places they have not b4. Great to hear more and mree variety in the setlists and the one thing I really noticed was the incredible patience the band has begun to develop in building jams instead of blasting right to them.
Tonight is going to be incredible but Sat. if missed will be the biggest regret of a Breakfast fans life so far.

This show got ZERO hype.  Not even that much on this board.  No jam bands in the month before for the club to promote to either.  This is what happens.

I\'m glad you said it.  I\'ll add this: As much as I like Matt O. on keys I\'d be thrilled if I never saw him pick up a guitar again.

I\'m sure they\'ll rebound with the fire tonight.

Debating an unplanned Mass run...

It was nice to finally meet you, Leith!

I totally enjoyed the show....tenth in my history (yeah yeah yeah 8 years and only 10 shows,i know).  i was also really surprised by the turnout.  I really thought there would be more of a crowd.   Why can\'t we lure in the college kids??  The yalies?  SCSU?  QU?  AMC?  It was a thursday night.  It definitely should have been packed a little more.  Hope everyone has fun tonight!

Close enough. They opened with it, and it did get cut-tempo was too fast.

not very good. i was really looking forward to it, but it never really sucked me in like i\'m used to.  not that it was bad.  rufus was great.  hadn\'t seen cosmic spaceway in a looooong time, i began to actually lose hope, of hearing it as a matter of fact.  nice teases.  it\'d be funny if they decided to play a michael jackson album tomorrow night....

Ok.....In my worthless opinion...I thought the show took off after Ron\'s bass solo.....A little slow on the start but to be really fair.  IT ALL DEPENDS ON WHERE YOU STAND IN TOAD\'S....  I move around and the sound and energy changes.  Some spots the mix is great other...NOT.  Not blaming the place or Chad because everywhere it\'s like that...but it seems more pronounced at Toad\'s.

Rufus...awesome!!!

Freddie..."Horrific"?????  Ouch......

Oh...who forgot to MIC the snare?????  (all night no mic....)

I would term this show as slightly above-average. It was good to hear Bona Fide seeing as how I haven\'t heard many of those songs in quite a while, but truthfully, I needed a break after that  and couldn\'t fully sink my teeth into the rest of the show. The Honey Butter craziness was interesting, but not nearly as a good a version as we would get the next night.

Rufus was easily my highlight.

Still is and always will be an underrated point. I agree 150%. (I\'ve never been to Toad\'s but many venues hold this same problem which can destruct someone\'s experience, enhance it, and then cause fights between both parties the next day.)

caitlin, that might have been a bit harsh.
i didnt mean you personally.actually,i watched u play your balls off.you were great.
that jam went nowhere fast.i was literally cringing.there was no direction.matt should stick with the keys and timmy should stick to playing the guitar.
i can honestly say that toads place was the worst breakfast show ive ever seen.
however,last night=whole different ballgame.consermified

I found that the "over 21" side was, at first, lame compared to the kiddie side.  The kids were dancing their asses off, while us old folks were kinda standing around.  Of course, this changed as the night progressed.
