I: jam > Tunage > Dig, What The Funk > The Vermont Song > What The Funk > The Vermont Song > What The Funk > The Vermont Song > See The Light*
II: jam > Rufus > Lit > Rufus** > Lit > Peaches En Regalia > LDZ > Tunage, Fresh Cut
E: Lithium
* inverted.
** with \'Inca Roads\' (Frank Zappa) tease.
-
Hmm...I thought there was a distinct break between Tunage and Dig, while Tim talked to the crowd. Was I hallucinating?
-
yes..
-
hands down the best of the 3 RI shows, imo.

Ya, this show rivals the second night of BI for me. All the setlist stuff worked out so well. Flawless transitions back and forth from Vermont song to WTF, and the place was moooovin. See the light was a treat, as always.
Rufus to open second set was a total surprise to me, and when they dropped into lit instead of the rufus reggae-ness, it was totally badass. Again, flawless transitions with the band trying some new stuff. It was certainly the most I\'ve ever enjoyed the trippy circus waltz part of Lit. Good stuff :-)
What can I say about the band playing the song that inspired my .info name at the place I first heard them play it, which in turn inspired me to join .info and delve deep into this entire scene. It was beautiful, and I suppose all I can do is say thanks. My first time at the Wheelhouse Tavern, it was the only song I really knew that they played, and the one song I was trying to get them to play. This time around, it was probably the song I was least expecting, and it was just as sweet and special.
Fresh cut to close the set was definitely added cuz they had so much time left, and I know Igzy and Jenny were hopin for it, so Im glad you guys got your wish, and it was strong set closer, in my opinon. That song used to get so much hate when it was played all the time, but now it seems to only get broken out for something special.
The place was jumpin for Lithium (but it might have just been me) and the night was over. My run was done, as I don\'t have the money, energy, or available schedule to make the fourth night in albany. Kudos to all those who will make the fourth night, I know Booztravelr (aka Ralph) is gonna be there, and I am proud of you Danielson.
This weekend (which we all kept calling it even though it was the middle of the week) was absolutely amazing from beginning to end, capping a wild week of birthday debauchery, which began with a wild Blah Blah Collective show, went into a day of golf and drunkeness, and carried onto what just may be the Breakfast Run of the Year. For me, it certainly rivals my experience of 4-20 run 2006 as my favorite Breakfast experience. Thanks to the band for making this whole thing happen, and to everyone around who enhances the experience.
Go Breakfast.

i hadn\'t planned on going to this but after the insanity on block island i couldn\'t miss out on a show right at the pier...
the wtf>vt song>wtf>vt song>wtf>vt song was something else.. i loved the song selection for this show with the exception of fresh cut. rufus and peaches were highlights of the second set for me. the lithium encore was great..i would love to hear them play that more.
-
good show last night! the first set kinda looks meh on paper but the guys threw down and jammed it out real nicely. see the light was badass, tunage was ill. lots of energy 2nd set- nice rufus/lit sandwich. wheel house is pretty cool, never seen the band there before, good job on da lights too. soooooo good to see everyone that i havnt seen in a while, so much fun dancing the night away w/ ya\'ll!! wish i made it out to block island and got tan like everyone who was there. thanks again to postom for the ride...late night radio sing-a-long WHAT!!!
-
once again i feel like a big gaping asshole, kudos to all. I finally will be seeing this fucking band again (god its been too long) in VT, i hope to see some of you, and feel free to give a nice kick in the balls, thanks
-
wish i read this thread before posting in the last one.
i hope to kick you in the balls soon, until then.....:asskicked:
-
Well I probably should have gotten my act together and gotten down there, seeing as this looks like a pretty incrdible show.
However, there was an awful lot of Vermont Song... ;)
-
c\'mon joc, your smart enough to know that more mention on paper does not translate to more time on stage
besides, it was actually lots of fun goin back and forth
-
Yeah. Clearly I was serious.
Oh, I never got to wish you Happy Birthday.
Happy Birthday!
-
aww shucks ::blush::
thank u :-)
-
:( so sorry I missed this show! Though the sleep was much needed & very nice in the back of the 4Runner! ;)
-

easily, the break between jam>tunage was un-real! Dave did you see the embers on the roof on your way out?

Great fuckin\' show. I was happy to see all the people who were there. After seeing it the "first" time at Porter\'s I figured they\'d never play the twisty, intertwined WTF and Vermont Song sandwich, whatever you wanna call it thing again, so I was happy they decided to play it again. Tough to decide which one was better, not that it matters though. I think that this one would have the advantage by smoothly gliding into STL, I have to say I absolutely love how whenever they play this it always seems like they\'re trying bury all the versions that came before it. It just keeps hitting that next level again and again.
Uh....Rufus>Lit>Rufus>Lit>Peaches>LDZ>Tunage!?!? Seriously?!?! Goddamn. There\'s really not much to say about that. Where would I begin anyway? Perfect. Some of these little grooves, for lack of a better term, they\'d get into and actually be able to maintain so many times throughout the show is something that I don\'t feel I can accurately put into words. Lit coming out of Rufus was fuckin\' nasty and Peaches, which is always done really, really well, going into a really aggressive LDZ that did that did that silly little start and stop shit right near the end?!? Come on now. Never a fan of Fresh Cut ever, and I was glad to see it not take that long to end, no offense, it just wasn\'t a Fresh Cut kinda night for me. Maybe something like Surreal or good ol\' Doughboy woulda worked better, though I didn\'t see anyone complaining about it. Nice see Lithium finish off a great night of marvellous music with it\'s little noodle(y) parts at the beginning and again near the end was that were just right, I think made people feel just as happy as the first time it was played. What a fine show I must say. One more to go....
-
Thus far the best show of the 3 nights. Everything was right on. Sounded great, especially Save, felt the bass in my balls. Thought the floor was to drop through. Almost cried during Peaches (which I felt was the best part of the weekend) out side of the zyets sa hwee on BI.
-
lots of love floating through that venue last night i must say... everyone in the crowd had a huge smile on their face all night, it was really awesome. when i go on long breaks of seeing the band live, i tend to forget just how psychedelic it can get... last night was just the right amount for me. really dug the whole show, highlights included STL, rufus, peaches, and that LIT insanity. also tunage has offically grown on me. good times last night all! :)
-
Of all 3, if I was only able to go to 1 (even though all where incredible!! )this was the show to see!
I couldnt wait to see my folks and tell them all about everything and the great time I had(well not everthing)
I was rambling on,and on....my mom said "slow down" and ....
I said to get to the point "this past trip for me was like one of those dreams you have thats so happy and you wake up only to want to fall back asleep to stay in the dream!I wish I was still there)
I didnt sleep for days!
I also didnt stop dancing, smiling or laughing .:)the sunrise, the moon,I love Block Island!I loved to see The Breakfast there!
The Narragansett show was a great ending to the three days of music, sun, boats, riding waves, fun. and friends that can keep smiles on your face!
Melanie and Fitzy- I am sorry for the all night and early morning disruptions to to get back in the room. and anyone else I disrupted and kept awake beacause I couldnt stay still.Sorry. (if If it helps, I am making up for it now.)I can honestly say I absorbed every bit of vacation as possible.
-
Wait, what?
Holy exclamation points and puncuasion. :P
-
well...now that i\'ve regained my energy, i can give my review :) This was definitely a great night...felt like shit and vow that i won\'t be setting sail with the captain any time too soon (stupid heartburn!) but that didn\'t stop me from enjoying this show. definitely didn\'t mind hearing LDZ twice this week (i love it), the breaks in this night\'s version were timed incredibly well. i liked that they played STL as well...don\'t think i\'ve seen them play that in a while. i\'m happy they waited to play rufus until the end of RI-run...definitely a blast and i enjoyed the flip-flop between rufus and Lit>peaches. after this night, i\'m surprised that wheelhouse is still standing in one piece! what a great run! :)
-
you better get your ass there timmy, so we can rage, smoke some diesels. i know its nothing coming from me, but sure would put a smile on my face, and whats the deal with tainty mctainterson, tell alexi to get hiss ass to the party (i got a pool full of bitches)
-
Tunage is huge. Break it up and it becomes a monster. Tunage has what it takes to be this years ToT champion because of the diverse use of the song and structure. It should also be noted that the pause in Tunage was a little longer than usual and it was funny to see Tim just standing there like a statue. Lit was also super trippy, thought I ate some heady LS, brah. This really was the best playing I seen in a long time from them, musically they were tight and sounded great. I know I hadn\'t felt that way in a long time. The service at the Wheel House Tavern was a little slow and looked to be undermanned at the beginning of the night, the doorman can go choke on a d anyday. Otherwise, best show of the weekend.
-
the doorman can go choke on a d anyday. .
I got carded approx. four times by those idiots.

It was brutal. I saw people getting harassed every time I went in there. I think he was trying to look cool in front of the girls.
-
oH Good god!if its the same guy Im thinking of,I must have have went in and out hundreds of times and talked to him but, he kept asking to see my stamped hand. Finally I said "look dont you remember my face by now?WTF?Do you think I could take my head off and put it on someones body who doesnt have a stamped hand?"
He laughed and let me be the rest of the night. The other guy was cool.
-
holy crazy posts
-
great night. i got a couple noobs out to a show finally and they thought it was really good.
oh and Ziets Se Hwee!!!!
that is all
-
hands down the best of the 3 RI shows, imo.
you mean you remember the wheelhouse?
after this night, i\'m surprised that wheelhouse is still standing in one piece! what a great run! :)
As I recall, the roof was blown off during lithium. I distinctly recall dave showing me the holes in the ceiling tiles as proof of the event.
:P
-
i\'m kinda late to post since i don\'t have internet at my apartment, but wow! finally a trio show that "took me there" so to speak... it had been awhile.
I LOVE Tuneage! I was thinking the long drive was worth it just for that opener, then during See the Light pure happiness was pumping out through the floor!
So fun gettin\' down with familiar faces (finally learning some names..again..).
Another highlight = Davepeck holdin\' up the Rufus shirt looking madly ecstatic during said song!
Also gotta give a shoutout to the RI cops who pulled us over on Rte 1 but thank God just gave us a warning!
-
hands down the best of the 3 RI shows, imo.
no debate.
best bfast show in a loooooong time. and there\'ve been other good ones!
really didnt think my body was going to survive this one which would have been really sad if i saw the setlist after. i am betting there are a lot of tired fans and band members this morning (or the lucky ones are still sleeping). sometimes i dont know how they do it! ;)
great week of music. still wishing i could get rid of this boat-thing though.

The Wheelhouse Staff definitely had some kind of weird chip on their shoulders. Also, the bar service started out the night as the worst I\'ve ever seen... but they eventually caught up.
But how do you get carded 4 times? I got carded/ stamped the first time, and every subsequent time the doorman would motion toward my hand, look at my stamp and let me pass.
P.S. - Nice glasses Al
E.A.T. A D.
that is all.

-
has the "Put a Little Love in Your Heart" hint at the very beginning of Lithium been noted yet? just a touch of "and the world will be a better place" going on...
I\'ll take a listen tonight and confirm or deny your suspicion.
-
i\'ve certainly heard tim hint at it before. never all of tease or quote, just a little hint...
-
i\'ve certainly heard tim hint at it before. never all of tease or quote, just a little hint...
thats an interesting pick up.
I can hear it but I don\'t know if it is enough.
-
yeah, that\'s why i called it a hint. tim actually does this a lot more than he\'s given credit for. and whether its intentional or just mid jam something that catches his ear and is gone again, is hard to know without being timmy. but there have been a lot of places in a lot of songs where there is just a hint of something else going on. not enough for a full tease or quote to be assigned, but he\'s damn sure playing with some melody line.... there\'s a broadway show tune during the 1000th show, too, for instance.
-
I hear what you are saying. Can notice some of them during the show but they go in and then right back out and I never think of them again. Nice and interesting pick up.
-

I\'ve also heard these hints before. However I wonder if they\'re even intentional... or if the notes just come together that way sometimes.
Steve used to claim that Trey would perform a "fat guy in a little coat" jam frequently at phish and trey band shows. He was convinced that Trey was specifically playing a melody that matched that famed Farley moment.
Maybe, maybe not.
-
with trey, knowing phish\'s history of the secret language (beyond just the ones we\'ve been told about - i\'ve seen a list long ago that had twenty or thirty different signals) it wouldn\'t surpise me if trey did throw in bits that only he and the guys on stage were in on.
with timmy (and the speed at which he thinks/plays), i\'d imagine its probably more just his fingers coming across a somewhat familiar melody , playing with it for a moment, then the next idea comes along and takes over.
but i know 3/1/07 had two or three hints in it - war pigs before spunk and also a nice little chattanooga choo-choo quote in honey butter (if you\'re too young to know that song, think \'is that a picture of otis redding\'). the chatanooga choo choo is a full quote, though, i\'d say.
-
"Lithium"? the one I\'m thinkin of? I hate when b\'fast or Tim plays Nirvana.
-
I got to thinking about the "secret language" last night/today and wondered if Tim was talking to Adrian or Ron with those little hints. We might never know but should take a look at them more when they pop. Not sure what to do with the evidence we collect but we can decide that later.
FWIW, I have heard that "Fat Guy" jam once or twice before and then Steve mentioned it or Slim mentioned it to me. I hear it.
"Lithium"? the one I\'m thinkin of? I hate when b\'fast or Tim plays Nirvana.
This Lithium was pretty rocking.
-
WH Lithium was absolutely great!
-
sleeper = huge Nirvana fan ...I always thought those guys played Nirvana \'too well\'; like as if you had Steely Dan covering the Ramones. Tim sang? uhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
